He actually is. I've mett few people that knew him from his early days. This dude is tuff as nails
If you dig deep enough, you’ll find out the TRUTH about Dan and not the Story book legend you’ve been sold!
In a nutshell, this is the truth as told to me by an insider;
He was given Great Western by a friend who Dan had done favors for; it was just a shell company used to offset tax liabilities and as a result had NO ASSETS.
Dan cooked up a scheme with the help of others who would also profit handsomely in the IPO.
With a little more than $800, he purchased an OPTION for hundred of thousands of barrels of oil, and preceded to represent that OPTION as assets that GREAT WESTERN ACTUALLY OWNED for the purpose of being able to GO PUBLIC!
Of course, today that would be illegal and considered fraud and NOT ALLOWED.
A company going public with NO ASSETS WHATSOEVER except an OPTION for the right to purchase the ACTUAL assets at a future date...IF HE CHOOSES TO...and the cost of that OPTION, only 800 dollars!
