Apparently, there is a chinese expression about six ears in a conversation ( two of the person talking, two of the one listening, and two of the one spying on it); the character is called Six Eared Macacgue in Journey to the West due to his incredible senses letting him see and hear across great distances (part of the reason he could make such a convincing Wukong impersonation).
In the original legend, macaque was a villain of the week that showed up and impersonated Wukong while causing chaos. Long story short only Buddha could tell them apart and the real Great Sage defeated Macaque-
Via murder. The novel also states that there are actually 2 other celestial primates besides Wukong and Macaque. But unfortunately they never made appearances themselves
Macaque is indeed one of the other monkeys from JTTW- he's actually the character called; Liu'er Mihou (aka the six earred macaque). Who is supposed to represent the negative of sun wukong (basically following an evil twin trope). Sun Wukong ends up killing him in JTTW and it is implied (later on), that Lego Monkiekid follows the same-ish timeline as JTTW. I quite enjoy the dynamic that grows between Wukong and Macaque as the seasons go on though. One of my favourite duos! I'm really enjoying watching your videos on LMK, as it's my comfort show! I'm eagerly awaiting season 5's release (hopefully soon), so this is a great distraction to help me catch up on the episodes again! (You're gonna love when you get to the season 4 special, ITS AN EPIC EPISODE WITH AMAZING ANIMATION AND STORY TELLING
I felt like Wukong should have shown up during episode 10. Like he could have sensed Bull King’s power up, try to fight him himself instead of MK doing it to protect him, but end up fighting together cause Bull King is too strong to fight alone, and we get to see the student and master tag team mashup
Macaque is uhhh....complicated character. The show took the interpretation that he and the Macaque Spirit King is the same guy,but the popular interpretation is that he symbolizes Wukong's bad traits that he has to vanquish.Which is pretty fitting since he brutally murdered a gang of bandits and showcases their leader's head at the beginning- Which I think is still a thing in the show,as they parallel each other even if they don't admit it.I see them as a twin brothers of some sort. And a blog I read mentions that turns out the book did mention Macaque King going as fast as winds and disappearing like a shadow.Guess that's why he calls himself Tong Feng Great Sage.
He's also explicitly stated as a cannibal. So when Mr.Tang was traveling across the scroll and he sees three demon kings of Camel Ridge along with Macaque with an empty city around them (the demon kings are known to eat people who are in or traveling past Camel Ridge),my heart kinda sank-
I thought so. Just in that moment, it was confusing because DBK was seeing Sun Wukong when looking at MK, so when he addressed him, I wasn't sure if he was still seeing Sun or not. Gotcha
@@SoundtrackDetector That was most definitely a deliberate choice is casting lolz. Goku is based off of the Monkey King (and I’ve heard Dragon Ball Z as a whole is based off of Journey to the West, but I can’t confirm) so when I first figured out they had the same voice actor I thought it was a cool choice in casting.

So fun fact, Macaque actually does have 6 ears, he just uses magic to hide them. As well as the scar he has. Also, he is my favorite character
He was going to have them in season 3 but was changed

Reminds me of goku and vegeta
Considering Sun Wukong is voiced by the same actor as Goku I don't think it's a coincidence.
