💲Billionaires and Millionaires Lake Shore Mansions in Chicago's North Shore!

  • Millionaires and billionaires' mansions first time ever captured by drone along Chicago's North Shore suburbs before the Spring tree foliage obscures them. These mansions are lakefront properties that have never ever been seen by the general public. Super large dense trees and bush foliage, high fencing, and private beaches make these mansions hard to be seen from the street, sidewalk, boat, or even air.
These towns are some of the most wealthiest in the United States!
A link below will show an inside tour of Michael Jordan's mansion.
This video was filmed in April 2022.

Wow, just WOW! Went to Northwestern and a best friend lives in Glencoe so I have traveled on the street side of them many times and always wondered what they must be like. Until now it was only a passing wonder as I drove by. Now. Wow just wow. As a former film editor - the only criticism is that some of them are seen too long and there was some repetition,
Like someone else posted - I would love to see some of these in Spring or better still in summer. How many people live in these homes? Lots of empty unused rooms. I'm guessing many of these owners NEVER venture all the way down to their private beaches.

Thanks for watching. I'd love to capture these mansions during the summer months, but the large trees(oak trees, cotton wood trees, large bushes, etc...) obscure most of the property. Some residents utilize the beaches( launching kayaks, taking a brisk walk, swimming, etc...). They use the jacuzzis even in early spring when it's still chilly out from what I observed. Sheridan rd. is the closest you get to see these properties as you would know. Even people living in these towns don't even know what these mansions really look like along the lakefront besides some still photographs they've seen.
I'm no professional video editor, but I had a good time capturing these mansions for everyone to see from a different perspective. I'm glad you enjoyed the video, and I hope to become a better editor with each video I upload.

@@chicago4k542 Understand about the large trees - perhaps in Spring before they fully bloom.
I'm thinking that the current number of residents in a majority of those homes is very very low. Too huge a space for only 2 people to live. Kids move away from home.
Ostentatious homes - more for show than actual living. And I bet no one from a majority of the houses NEVER visit their private beach.
Thanks for the many links to more stories regarding: the history you mentioned.

I saw on Nextdoor, something like a Craiglist, that a chandelier big enough to fill my little humble student housing dining room. I never forget a moment when my immigrant Uber driver gasped saying he hasn’t seen any neighborhood like Evanston. He said he has to drive more than ten hours a day to ends meet. I envied him because I didn’t have work permit; I was a doctorate international student who has enough money to study abroad. What a life mysteries.

Intreating history note on the demolished mansion at the 22:00 mark: Before its purchase in the early 80’s, it had been squatted by a pair of Chicago bank robbers.
The next owners were our neighbors in a different suburb.
For anyone who drove Sheridan Rd, it was the red brick three story with massive white columns, next to a small park. It also had a front guest quarters with massive, white pillars in the front.
Most 3rs floor was a gymnasium.
The purchased it for about $2M in the early ‘80s.
Breathtaking. It was a gem when it was up for sale in 2018z such a shame to lose it.

In the winter, it usually stays a few degrees warmer along the lake. The lake water can only get so cold before it would eventually freeze. It stays warmer than the air temperature, which drops well below freezing in Chicago, and actually warms the surrounding air. In the summer the lake has a wonderful cooling effect.

I drive through the north shore a lot and one can only dream of living along the lake like that. It’s wonderful and it also makes me really sad. The racial disparity is so intense, as well as the residential segregation. If someone drove from east Garfield park and worked their way to the north shore, they would see the stark racial and residential disparities. Even if things improved in Chicago, it would never compare to the gorgeous land that was acquired in the northshore in the late 1800s. They truly got the best land, the most space for the least amount of people, while the city is crowded with these crammed apartments filled with the lower class. They also made sure the north shore was predominantly white, and it still is 80-94% white. I wish there was a way to improve the quality of Chicago residential living considering the feeling one gets visiting these places and comparing it to the urban life…as a brown woman I know I may never have the opportunity these people did to build those gorgeous homes along the north shore at the PRICES they did back in the day. The were afforded the opportunities simply because they were white (i think it was 2,000 homes were offered to white prospective home buyers while only 38 black families were even allowed to look in the mid 1900s).
It’s a testament to the divide in Chicago. The city that built the most beautiful buildings, and also built the worse system of redlining segregation the country had ever seen.
Still, I am grateful I can drive down that scenic route, stop at a beach from time to time, and continue to dream/work hard for myself. It’s great motivation to see beauty like that.

This video is certainly high-quality real estate eye candy, but it would benefit from significant editing. It inexplicably lingered for faaaaar too long over each property, and included captioning that read like it was chosen and composed by a nine-year-old.
Also: as someone who grew up in that area 50 years ago, most of the featured homes appear to have been built in the interim.

I'd ride my bike through the Chicago Botanical Gardens, then over to and south on Sheridan Road to the Bahi'a Temple and Wilmette Harbor. Too much concentrated wealth today, not like when I was growing up. Still, when the husband dies and the money is gone, you can find widows living in studio apartments above stores in these neighborhoods, left with a few pieces of silverware and perhaps a ring or two.

It means a lot to them to have a private beach when stinky Lake Michigan is full of bacteria. Another thing is that all the houses have a west-east position, while in architecture it is known that the southern exposure is the best because of the light, especially since it is a huge space. All in all, not so enchanting.
