Chinese ammunition is banned, tokarev ammo was also specifically banned from Russia long before the Russian ammo ban. That’s why you never saw wolf or Tula 7.62x25. They also ban steel core 7.62x25 because it’s “armor piercing handgun ammo”. There’s still a ton of this ammo out there but we can’t import it anymore
I have a Polish PPS 43/52 that uses this round. The ammo is out there but more than it used to be. I was at a gun show last Sat and found several original tins (cases) of it.
The Mauser and predecessor to the Luger were chambered in 7.63 Mauser not the Russian 7.62x25, the Russian cartridge while similar has far higher pressures.
that surplus ammo is so bad for the guns especially the steel jacketed corrosive primer stuff. it performs really well I give it that. there isn't much hiding from a steel jacketed 30 bore cooking along 1500fps or more. I been able to find ppu fmj and ppu hollow point and s&b online for 25 27 dollars per box of 50 which isn't to bad. I was paying around 15 20 a box for 50 rounds of surplus 25 years ago, retail. plus, I don't like taking my gun apart to wash it with water and soap that's a pain. I would add the ppu hollow point ammo is fussy, it hangs in the mag then nose dives and will jam on the feed or barrel, so to run that polishing may be required, that's what I had to do. as for the mag issue, just load 1 less, because messing with mag springs is tricky and a pain. if the mag spring is too weak the slide wont lock open.
Sir it makes us wonder what people use to fight with 100 years ago i say ammo in world war 1and 2 was quiet devastating as if compared of today less bombing more firing
I have a polish circle 11 just bought some PPU so I can reload and the bore is mirror so I ain't shooting anything corrosive in it. Also just picked up a turk Mauser 1942 in 8 mm Mauser having a little bit of trouble finding it in non corrosive as well without paying out the wazoo got any input on the 8 mm Mauser ammo?
I want to know why we can’t get S&B ammo like we used to two years ago. I don’t want political reasons, as that ammo is not made in Russia. I am just curious as to why the PPU and S&B are ghosted. Non existent. It is nowhere online, excluding gunbroker for a dollar a round
Ok let me try to explain this again, ammunition companies make a set amount of ammo each year according to their past sales, the ammo you are talking about was more expensive than military ammo, so they did not sell huge amounts, now that the panic is on and you have to remember that it takes time to get any product on the shelf. so when it does show up people buy it instantly some online retailers say a shipment of ammo will sell out in 15 minutes, then some people that buy it try to resell it. that is why you find the ammo at a reasonable price
@@michaeljohns1019 thanks for the clarification. I did enjoy your video btw. When do you think I will be able to buy a box of Tok ammo that isn’t milsurp for less than a dollar a round oh wise ammo man? Lol
Yeah great question those PPUs were available and then gone…. I believe they came in JHP but to me that little guy goes so fast not sure if HP would make much of a difference would like to hear opinion on that?? But I do love the surplus rounds copper wash norincos are fun to shoot along w the Bulgarian rounds some have cracks at bottle neck but seem to be ok to to shoot IMO anyways great round… if anyone has lead to rounds please share… God Bless America
@@kaizersoze2606 my Tokarev (yugo) doesn’t chamber the HP rounds, and they FTF every time. But the FMJ feed flawlessly. Not really made for HP rounds though, as it is a weapon of war.
You are not a historian. The 30 lugar while it is bottle necked and about 30 cal, is not similar to the the mauser or tokarev cartridges. But it is designed to fit into the luger pistol that is a redesigned Borchardt system. Bolshevik revolution was 1917. Then the Russian Civil war. During the revolution, the Bolsheviks loved bolo mauser. Yes the late 1920's to 1930's is when the Russians decided on some of the most basic infantry weapons.

I have a CZ-52 that fires the 7.62x25. Neat round.

Good info and insight thanks
Luke 11:21
“When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are safe”
I bought 2 tins of Romanian 1224 rounds back when it was like $150ish a tin. Should have bought more, same tin is $800 atm.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge I really appreciate the information and the longer videos

The Makarov is a neat gun too.
You can make tokarev brass from .223 cases trim to length and size
A tokarev can be converted to 9x19 also.
It really is a better round than 9mm. Plan on making it when I get some 5.56 nas3 cartridges just for fun
I make my own out of 223 cases, ezpz.

Just safer sticking with a glock then 🤭
Yup - i have a lot of it, but as a Com Block guy - how much is enough? Never, is enough…
