    Those “little scale pieces” are called static wicks. On the real airplane, they dissipate static electricity generated by the aircraft skin while moving through the air. Very nice scale detail

    Dang that was an ACTION PACKED episode. I had everything Drama, Excitement, New Stuff. Great idea re the 3D printing being able to beused as a Mold. I concur whack Locktite RED stuff in there re the as things are pulling some G,s at low and High Speed. Going through everything virtually starting as a kit. Perth Winter lasts a couple weeks Summer and HOT rest of Year FIRE SEASON already started. Looking forward to the next one. 🤠😎

    Hi ,
    I started watching your channel. i don't RC but I am enjoying your content.
    Just a note you might want to share.
    Use Blue loctite only.
    The Red loctite requires 300° f /150 c to loosen. Might not be a good look on a multy $1000.00 plane.
    Thank for a fun channel

    Great video as always.👍👍
    One thing though….
    I’ve been muddling with 3D Printing for a while now and I’m definitely not an expert by any means but I would’ve tried to incorporate the LED to the bottom of the chute box just so that you don’t have to remove, reglue, at a much lower level than original.
    I’ve also found that if I’m making new custom prints, it’s easier to print the piece at a thinner, quicker piece just to see if everything fits as needed and then go back and reprint at the normal specs for the finished product.
    Filament is cheap so it’s easier to try it, go back and change something if need be and try again to get your desired results.
    I suck at CAD. designing but I’ll try my hardest to design something first before just printing squares and reshaping it to fit.

    • @thelightersideofrc
      @thelightersideofrc  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for the comments and suggestion! I wanted to keep the lower portion of the tail end as stock vs making that into a new portion of the assembly. Great suggestion though.
      Agreed on the thinner printing setting. I'm learning as well and it would have saved filament and made it much quicker to print the first thinner.

    That BVM CCU is actually a pretty feature packed device. You can view RX voltage, air system psi, and set a fail safe for pressure and altitude in meters to prevent the gear from retracting if you bump the switch. BVM has a video on their UA-cam channel on how to program it.

    On the real f-16s there is an extended tail version to accommodate the parachute like all the Hellenic airforce f-16s have. I have no idea if it would be feasible to do that with the rc, but if it is, it would be great.

    Question regarding the servo cycling: is there any reason why you do one servo at a time? Couldn’t you use at least a Y lead to do 2 at once?

    • @thelightersideofrc
      @thelightersideofrc  Рік тому +1

      Yea you could do multiple at once but i'm in no rush. At the beginning of the build I just cycle them in the back ground while i'm working on stuff.

  • @RexDavis-f8d
    @RexDavis-f8d Рік тому +1

    can you explain how you can control all the functions on the jet with a 7 channel receiver?

    • @thelightersideofrc
      @thelightersideofrc  Рік тому +1

      For sure! With a Jeti setup you have access to all 24 channels regardless of the actual channel layout on the receiver. So if you were to install a single REX 7 Reciever with a Cortex Gyro you have access to 14 servo outputs. Add an expander port to the Rex 7 Reciever and you now have access to 6 more servo ports. But at all times you have access to 24 channels in the radio. That's the simple explanation.

    Hello thank for video !! Please why do you cycle 990 times the servos ????? thank !!

    • @thelightersideofrc
      @thelightersideofrc  Рік тому +2

      The hope is if the servo is going to fail early in it's life, it happens during the cycle process.

    Hopefully not a stupid question , but why burn in the servos. I know to test them before installation, but why run them for so long.

    • @thelightersideofrc
      @thelightersideofrc  Рік тому +1

      The simple goal is to have any electronic issues happen during the burn in process. I do have servos that fail during this process.

  • @Vangent87
    @Vangent87 Рік тому +1

    Why are you “burning” in the servos? I’ve never heard of this or been told to do this on any of the models I’ve bought.

    • @thelightersideofrc
      @thelightersideofrc  Рік тому +1

      You won’t be told by anyone to do it. Not common practice. The theory is, if it’s going to fail it will hopefully happen near beginning of life. Get the servo working and warm.

    I know you’re building for somebody else but no USAF F 16 in any of their Block series has a parachute, the demo bird which I flew out of Shaw Air Force Base. The block 40 F-16s has no parachute drag reduction system in any US Air Force F-16 only foreign variants have that so it’s pretty Strange to see this option being requested by your client. It’s not even near scale compared to the way the jet was originally made. Just my two cents 😎

  • @RTD1947

    Why Clone and not Dual path? Why no 900 backup? Why a entry level CB and not the 400? You are not using the full capacity of the radio.

    • @thelightersideofrc
      @thelightersideofrc  Рік тому +1

      Because it’s a preferred setup by the owner. He doesn’t run 900 in any of his aircraft. No need for a 400. Why buy something massive and heavy for an aircraft that doesn’t need it? Function wise the 400 doesn’t offer anything more that this aircraft needs.
      Yes we are very much using the full capacity of the radio. This F16 is quite a simple aircraft if you were to compare it to the f14 that we put together (using a CB400).

    • @RTD1947
      @RTD1947 Рік тому

      Thanks for the reply...I enjoy your presentations...Note that there are differences in the CB's and not just in functionality. I run the full complitment in all my planes by the way...and I do understand that even thought that is a big plane the controls can be basic.... I was just curious about Why Clone because to those of us running Dual...it's not the best choice for the Jeti System...again Thanks.....ua-cam.com/video/fpMGPxxWI3c/v-deo.htmlsi=VX8bc60qkQjPTUwO@@thelightersideofrc

    Since you got me closer and closer to pulling the trigger (and p*ssing of my wife again:) it was extremely interesting to see the difference between this BVM versus your usual Skymaster.
    Being an absolute noob.....the Skymaster kit (at around $6000) seems more like a true "build" project versus this BVM $12.000 kit being more of a "refitting to purpose" project??

    • @thelightersideofrc
      @thelightersideofrc  5 місяців тому +2

      LOL. Glad I could cause trouble! Keep in mind you need to add in all the "Stuff" with the skymaster kit. Kit, gear, tanks, pipe, etc, etc, etc. The Skymaster is more work but in my opinion it's a better built aircraft. The BVM will require disassembly and reassembly of everything as I demonstrate in the series.
