My Dad did this in the 70s-80s even carried the number 1 plate for a long time while riding for Bull Taco ! He’s always telling me stories about him & Jay Springfield battling it out at the Big Daytona & Springfield . These guys are crazy lol .
@@motoman7445 Could have? I've raced against Halbert and DD32 and Kody Kopp loads of times. I got smoked so bad I might have well been in a different timezone, but I have technically raced against them. The big pros come out for local outlaw races with a good purse all the time.
I went to that race and I can't remember when I had a worse experience watching something I love. An incredibley boreing show, a crappy track in the parking lot, and no one could understand a word the anouncer said. Not to be subjected to endless laps of Royal Enfield street bikes, hugh yawn. And watching little dirt bikes go around for hours only to see on decent race at the end. They previously held this event at the 1/2 track at the Volusia Speedway and it was and awesome show. Moving it to the speedway parking lot was just a money grab pure and simple. I am not just being a grouch I have been following Flat Track racing since 1969. I might go to Lexington this year. Haven't decided yet.
Volusia is a crap track for bikes wayyy too rutted up the track prep is crap….. if you want to go half track go to a half track but the speed way races are great and you are way too old a feeble to know your ass from a hole in the wall. Go visit your grandkids geezer and let the men race
Havent watched flat track races in years. Should be a nice addition to Flo. Lucas oil, High Limit, Eldora coverage, and now AFT. Will like this racing season.
Omg when there's not much grip, an old school xr750 or Rotax will walk around the track like nothing else. The new bikes may look like dirt trackers but they seem to handle like mxers
Is this track built where the greyhound track used to be? This series used to race at Charlotte. I could never get off work to go, but man this is great stuff.

The track is just sand, they put some water on it but it didn't help. I felt bad for the riders I am sure they were less than happy.
