Love your videos! If possible, you should do a tutorial on how to rebuild Comand Hard drives. My hard drive died and now the navigation won't work on a 4.5. This will be more common as time goes on. Thanks again for your awesome videos!

is there a way you can clone your old HDD drive into a new replacement (HDD/SSD) ?
@@glasser2819 The HDDs are locked. The keys are out there, and in theory you could, but you would need the file structure if the HDD is dead because you couldn't clone it if the file structure is corrupt. If anyone has info or knows of a tutorial on this, feel free to reply.

Yess is possible but a lot of work, time and money. I don’t know the procedure exactly but I would say is not anything if you not a hardcore mb guy want to invest lot of time into it.
Hi, can you tell me which connection I plug a reversing camera into on Ntg4.5 comand 7inch, car us 2013 pre face-lift e350 coupe, has the double green socket on the bottom row and a single green socket above that, tried both but neither works, I've enabled camera from menu and selected reverse gear, I get a black screen with a safety message on it when engaging reverse but thats all.

hi, great video! I have an NTG 4.5 COMAND on my 2011 W204, but I don't like the gold display. I'm looking at getting a later model NTG 4.5 off ebay because I prefer the silver display. Is there anything I should be looking out for? Thanks

I have a problem accessing the secret menu with phone+1+# buttons. No matter how long I hold it down for, it just does not enter the menu. I checked all the buttons separately and they work. The car is a 2015 e350 with the NTG 5. Any ideas why it would not enter the menu?
I think I have the NTG 4.0 20 without nav, e350 2011, I couldn't find the audio option on the top tab, though my phone gets connected for calls. What should be done?

been trying to determine NTG version on my car for ages. Found this video and it became clear I have NTG 4.0 Audio 20 (no sat nav) until video got to 3:31 ... scroll wheel mine has is from the 4.5 . Not clear again, do I have NTG 4 or 4.5, or scrool wheel is not an identifyer at all. car is W218 CLS from 2011
Is really confusing due to some minor things is not the same on all models but usually it should look as in video. I guess from the year you have the NTG 4!

Is it possible to add a front camera (without carplay box) if you have command ntg4.7 and OEM rear camera?
Yess then you have the input for it so is possible. Don’t know the procedure sometimes original retrofit could be kinda hard and expensive.
Can you retrofit any of the other units? I’ve got NTG4.0 with sat nav but as we all know it’s getting pretty old now and MB have did their last nav update for NTG4.0 in 2018 ;(
Yess you could retrofit but is all about money time and knowledge. I don’t have the knowledge is pretty complex procedure lots of things need to be replaced and coded to the car. That’s not nice they not support never maps.
@@MB212 that's this issue that I told You yesterday:)... NTG 4 is a "hole system" looks like abandoned by the world:)
It's a lot easier and cheaper to install a Carplay module than to retrofit a newer unit that still will lack features, I did it on my NTG 4.5 Audio 20 and it's great!

@@MB212 I work for MB so have access to Xentry & Star etc etc. I’m not sure whether there are any retrofit repair instructions on WIS? I would love a newer system
At 3:21 your NTG version shows as NTG47 6.25 mine in my W212 shows as BLD-NR-212 0.31 I was hoping it would show what version NTG I had?
Then is probably a audio 20 model. Does it write on it audio cd something?

How do carplay works or your ntg4.7 ?
I looking at W212's with NTG 5 and I'm totally confused. Many have code 522 (audio 20) and still have code 218 (rear-view camera) while still showing GPS-maps in the ads. The steering wheels also have a button for voice control. Is a hard drive all you get for opting for Comand? I very much doubt that all these cars have been upgraded to Comand.
Honestly this audio/command thing is so confusing is so many different system also some small differences for regions. But for the newer NTG 5 I think even if is audio 20 you still have the option for rear camera and that’s not the same for the older systems such as NTG 4.5. No command is whole different unit and no any hard drive at least for all other system before NTG 5
@@MB212 Thanks. I'm lokking at cars in Norway and so far all have been here since new. Your video helped me with understanding the different generations, but the things with NTG 5 are pretty weird. Some say the hard drive navi is the way better option, but the difference doesn't seem huge in that gen of systems.
Yess the NTG 5 I have not so much experience from, I only had the NTG 5 audio 20 device at my old 2016 taxi ride. Honestly I don’t really remember how to easy check the difference at that system due to they look identical. Not sure about the screen size? These other system big screen = command and small screen = audio 20.
@@MB212 Guess it's time to go out and check some cars. I can't see any difference in screen size in the ads I've seen. My Comand 2.5 in the 09 w211 sounds pretty good and I like to keep my cars stock. Wonder if the sounds is very different across the NTG 5 line. Even otherwise high spec cars don't have the comand and that might be a sign that the difference between the systems in the NTG 5-line are smaller than before.

I too have w212 e250 September 2012 model. I don't see any options of audio while using radio.
Even engineering mode shows basic functions. Can connect telephone only for calls.
Can't play any music through it.

Hard to find info about APS 50 I was sure it was only on NTG 4.0 so I don’t know man.

Sounds reasonable when thinking about it. Only NTG 4.0 then have the papyrus.
Not 100% correct. There was an Version of NTG 4.5 Comand mit SD Card Ready but fluted Volume Controller. W212 Build in 01.2012
