- Bass cover of Anderson .Paak's "Come Down" from his album "Malibu".
Definitely one of my favorite bass lines! Been jamming to this since it came out.
In this cover I'm using one of my new bass guitars - Sterling by Music Man Stingray Short Scale.
Hope you like it, thanks for watching!

Julia doesn't need a band. A band needs Julia.
Facts!
💖
I would, straight up, pay money for just these baselines done if you started a bandcamp, Julia. Thanks for sharing your favorite baselines! Give us a way to buy these and I bet people would do it! :)
Agree
She’s feelin it here😎
Julia: *smiles after nailing the bassline*
Everyone: There it is! There it is!
Trivartraj Chopade hahaha good call
she always do that!

1:35 The Standard Julia Epic Fill Followed By Her Slight "I'm The Boss" Smile.
Best part of her videos.
i love it and have to rewatch it everytime i come back here ^^
yragcom1 I LOVE THE “I JUST KILLED THIS” SMIRK SHE GETS!!
Hahaha totally! The other one I love is 1:40 in the Don't Start Now cover
Remember Marta Altesa? She made that same grin. She blew up then peaced-out a while ago now.
The corners of her mouth: super beautiful and expressive! Every little smirk is good. I could listen to her play all day, but watching her play is just added bonus!
You have me buying a bass at 54 and wanting to learn everything about it! Never played an instrument before! Got one exactly like your black sterling!
I have taken the bass back up again at 35, having not played for over 10 years. Life got in the way unfortunately. Completely inspired by Julia and I also bought a sterling stingray! I wonder how many basses they've sold because of her!
you go girl!
I started a year ago at age 56 and love it!!!!!
Sick!!! Julia inspired me to learn bass too, watched her cover of mr moon a million times :D
This rare human is indeed an true inspiration, isn't she? Congratulations, Alyce! Be kind to yourself and embrace the unfamiliarity, the frustrations, and some of the most intense pain your finger tips, hands, and maybe your whole upper body have ever known. It's a good, clean productive discomfort that comes from the effort of exercising things in new ways. Curiosity, imagination, and creativity: if you stick with it, you'll reach greater heights in all of these areas. Don't get me wrong: nothing's all roses all the time, but expression through music is magical. Especially the bass.
Being a child of the 80s I could always hear a track and say, "Sounds like Pino Paladino". I can now do the same with Julia.
The girl has a groove all her own, definitely. I cannot wait to hear her on a track.
@@kwilliams8440 Funny you mention that. I'm a retired (due to illness) pro musician, and have recently spoken to friends about having Julia play on a track. Like you, I can't wait for that to happen.
I love how after her fills she gets this smirk like “ Yeah, I know I killed it.”
Hi Julia, just wanted to say that I've not picked up my bass for about 4 years, I was going through a rough time. Then I found your channel and I've been playing every day since and I've never been happier. Thanks Julia, keep on grooving
💕
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Happy you got through it. Now as long as you live you can't let it happen again 🤷♂️
You give me hope to pick up what I have put down, thanks!😊
My Favorite Parts;
•The groove
•The Smile
•The BASS
5hawn headshake too
"Don't I make it look easy, don't I make it look good?!" Yeah you're killing it!
I realize your Dua Lipa videos get all the views but this is one of the best covers you've ever posted.
You misspelled "the very best ever"
Just found out Sterling got those two new basses to you. Now that is ultra cool. Good job Sterling. You earned them Julia. They have undoubtedly sold quite a few basses off this channel, not to mention got their name in front of MILLIONs of music lovers/players. If I was in the market for another bass, no doubt about it, it would be a mm SUB ray4, entirely due to this channel. Absolute killer tone -especially when you groove it..
Maybe they saw my comment on how much she deserved a new bass, since her wonferful talent needs the best,... and well.. they get her TWO !!
Maybe not at all... But I like thinking it..
Yo the Ray4 is a tenth of the price of a real Stingray but it's basically the same thing in terms of sound and tone. Absolutely killer basses and I love mine to death :D
Sick guitars, man...so cool.
For all the people suggesting this or that bass manufacturer sponsoring her, and more power to her getting her Stingray guitar rack filled up, the company that should be putting her face in a magazine advertisement is ZOOM.
She doesn't show off the hardware, but that and the bass her brother gave her are the only hardware tools she uses to share the fruits of her hours of practice and her love for good bass music, her ZOOM b3.
I have been waiting with baited breath for every vid she posts since September '19 and like many other people have picked up the 4 string after years of not having one, but only this week have bothered to look up what a ZOOM b3 even is. The SUB and b3 are the demonstrations that tons of money thrown into a rig aren't what makes producing good music or vids. Rather, simple tools combined with: the earnest love of music, diligent practice, and imo lastly talent are what brought this wonderful music to us.
I legit started shopping for a Stirling StingRay after watching her shred them
I’m a bass player in a theatre band in a 5 star hotel in Cyprus. I don’t know what this girl does for a living but I can confidently say she’d steal my job if she tried.
amazing groove
maybe our all jobs. since it needs so much more than just dedication..............this girl kicks ass ever since
@Goatherd of The Heavenly Sow what a weird thing to find fault in.
which hotel which city? asking as a cypriot
i don’t need to tell you that your taste is next level
You just did tho..
Jack Alterman Anderson paak is pop crap?
having a naturally diverse taste in music includes having and liking “pop crap”. it’s all in what people like, and she can play to whatever song she wants to bc it’s What She Wants To Do. there’s no fun in being pretentious
Well it seems like for some reason you did ... it’s ok pandering online isn’t as bad as in person
@@andreasdjamas9808 Did you come here specifically to hate on a compliment or are you always this toxic
I've been saying this... Julia is lowkey a monster bassist. She just showed us a glimpse of it here.
She has almost 300k subs, its not low key anymore
@@mikeydeeznutz6158 I meant that she's not showing us what she REALLY can do with these mainstream covers, personally I think she should do a bass solo
@@Simply_Genius worrddd ✌
@@jackalterman Come on now. People aren't impressed because of the songs she plays but HOW she plays them.
@@jackalterman Monster doesn't mean better, it just means....monster
Am I the only one who feels full of energy after listening to her playing?
I listen to it at least once a day
Not at all I am 60 and a big fan, that loves her funky sound.
What i likethe most about her is that she feels the energy of the song.. i'd definitely want her on my band!
Aleja Cifu No boss, tons of out here sit’n at the feet of a master class artist...
Yeah!!!
that little run at 1:34 gave me the same smile it gave her! yoef! what a line!
yes!!! if made me laugh straight away, she has knack of just making me giggle in amazement!!
seriously, you're just the best. wish I had 5% of your ability.
Same here🤧
dont wish. practice
Simp
Ddenztr, seriously!!! We aren't greedy!!! Just 5% would be just fine💕...practice is necessary, but the gift is a whole nother thing!!
U wish u had 5% of her ability but you don't practice to reach it. Fool
I aspire to be as strong as Julia's pinky finger 😌
Bruuuuhhhhh- same ;)
No doubt
haha.. nice
Yeah I just noticed that and started to practice. I think this pain is good?
hahahhahahahahah me too
You always add your own little riffs to these songs and it improves them so much. I love it when you do those bad ass bass lines and give that little smile that says oh yeah! Because I think thoose added little tings you add are not only at a high difficulty level but, they make the song better than the original! Thanks for giving is great music! Have a great day, Julia!
Yeah I just figured that out. I was already way impressed and now that I know these tunes are being added to... Well it blew my mind.
I mean, if you had a band, you’d want her in it.
You'd want her in your band even if you were the bands bass player and you would lose your job, lol.
@@bassguitarriff1651 Seriously... If they can choose her over me I'd do the exact same. This girl is insanely talented. Ive convinced myself that she HAS to be studying music in school or something to cushion my own ego lol
@@bassguitarriff1651 Dude I'm a bass player in a band and was about to make this comment. Take my job Julia!
You're the one that's good.
She’s better than that funky tune in the beginning of your videos
@@judedavid6552 Oh dude that bass line incredible. You're right. I love it haha. Let's get it straight though, both are way better than that original theme I wrote for the channel.
@@MMAOnPoint that is true my friend
Holy shit these guys! Didn't expect to see this channel lol
One of my favorite MMA channels commenting on my favorite bass player? 2020 is wild.
Julia reached 100K subscribers in mid December 2019, in 6 months she has added 200K more. Very impressive and well deserved.
Happy to say I was in that First hundred k but enough room for everybody...come on board.
@@ti84satact12 I remember when she had like 20k subscribers and I knew this girl was going to set the world on fire. She could be the best young female bass player in the world.
Vibes all over! 👍👍👍
When I first heard her Forget Me Nots cover 2 years ago her channel had like 5 million views. Now 2 years and many more videos later she has 26 million views. You can see from the comments how good she makes eveyone feel- all without ever speaking a word on camera.
@@jrisdr In mid December 2019 she reached 100,000 subs and 7,000,000 views, Julia will have 4x the number of views and subscribers by December 2020
Thats a sick bassline. I think music is coming back to respect a good bassline..
The whole album was fire. Go listen
@dread true Jesus you’re annoying
Always has been
You need to listen to better music if you think it's just coming back now lmao.. It's always been there
@dread true L
After years I can say that this is still the best rendition of it on UA-cam 👏🏻🏆
I love these types of bass lines.
She kills it, especially after those ascending octaves at 2:24. So smooth.
The licks you added were so tasteful. I love seeing you playing on the basses you were given, well deserved!
Julia, I am just amazed by your amazing pocket as always. But perhaps even more amazing, is that at your young age, you always let your instrument add to the music, and you sit back in the pocket and play the song like all masters do. You play the silent parts, and the notes without unnecessary embroidery. Respect!
I'm a simple woman
I see a notification from julia
I click
I press like even before it starts
So same but added "HOLY SHIT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR HER TO COVER THIS FOREVER!!!!"
Same!
Real talk!!
It's a no-brainer!
Same
Another Masterpiece. What about thundercat🤷♂️
My boi thundercat🦾
she makes it look so effortless and easy ........ literal queen
Those fills sounded incredible, you should join the Free Nationals.
Yeah!
No I don't think Julia should join Free Nationals. Free Nationals is the one should join Julia.
@Francisco Méndez Grajales Finally someone got it right
Yess!!!
John Schofield why
"Don't I make it look easy? Don't I make it look good?"
Hell yes, you do. Great play-a-long.
I get goosebumps every time I hear one of the fills she added. Phenomenal
Julia, you never cease to bring a smile. You’re so tasteful in how your fills service the songs you cover. Never overpowering with flash, but demonstrating complete authority over the groove by enhancing it. Take it from an elder musician who was there when funk first hit the airwaves, welcome, take your place.
I’m constantly speechless after watching her play. That’s just a God given gift. There are people who’ve played all their lives that don’t have the musical sense she has.
every time julia adds a whole new flavor to the song
I HAVE NEVER CLICKED ON A NOTIFICATION SO FAST
There's only 2 channels where I will drop everything to watch and I hit like before it starts to play ...this is one of the 2 channels!
why maj?
Man I move this tiny desk and especially this song
hahahahaha actually tho
Neither do I, 5 seconds😂
I always wait for the end because I know there’s always a dope riff waiting! You never fail to amaze me Julia :)
Julia somehow manages to be almost machine like in precision, yet at the same time incredibly expressive and engaging. I have no idea how to walk that line, and it's mindblowing
3 days later and still can not stop watching thus
only heard 5 seconds of it and I already know it’s gonna be amazing
I've been playing bass for over 25 years and this girl grooves smoother than I ever have.
0:58 is absolute perfection. Made a perfect song somehow even better.
Those Ghost Notes tho🤾
Had the most incredible jam session with my roommate yesterday, finally got a haircut today since start of corona, somehow managed to finish that pain the ass essay before the deadline this evening, nice late evening dinner, found a fresh Julia groove, got lost in it, got touched by it (2:25-2:37
The veins popping out of her hands and the stank face tell you how skillful she really is. Amazing!
Amazing as always! That lick at 2:05 though. Yeah.
I'm tryna be like Julia when I grow up. 🙌
😁😁😀
I don't normally comment on a video unless I find it wither exceptionally entertaining or I find the video's creator to be even more exceptionally talented, but I can't miss out on commenting here! You have unbelievable talent, I am more than impressed! Keep it up!
she’s only a couple years older than me, but she plays like she’s been playing for decades. Inspires me to work harder so I can be a badass bassist too
That's the kind of energy one needs
damn !!!!! amazing as usual :)) also the white bass is beautiful and suits you so well !!!
That tone fits just so perfectly into the song it's unreal
cool! I'd like to also see you take a shot at Vulfpeck - Dean Town!
YEEEEESSSSSS! the world needs so desperately, to be blessed with these positive vibes right now. Love what you do Julia 💕 Thank you all the way from New Zealand 🇳🇿
girl, those extra fills that you throw are extra cool. perfect taste.
oh my, Julia has mastered the groove, NEVER forsaking it, even to do a fill or a run. I don't need anything else, just give me that groove!!! bassists need to not only study Julia's fingers, but also her stone cold facial expressions. For me, her face tells the whole story, the whole truth of how focused, solid, and deep her groove really goes! EXCELLENT job Julia!!! You make me want to play bass!!!!
I love how proud she looks when she pulled that riff off🤣🔥🤮
absolutely killed it
Julia your fills are absolutely amazing and as an avid bass player of over 12 years I can only hope to get that creative and funky on the Slap-tar. You've ruined most of the originals that you jam over for me because without those spicy fills and addons the song feels incomplete. Thanks for your videos and keeping me inspired to keep learning and not get stagnant with my own playing! :)
I had the exact same experience. I thought I'm adding that tune to my play list... Then when I heard the original I found out.
Never heard this song ..... but it got “the groove” .... awesome played Julia .......
Listen to the NPR live version. It's better than the studio version imo.
@@hamajangz9586 it is indeed better than the studio version:D
The run Julia does at the end of this song marks the point where I stopped rewatching parts because they're fantastic and started rewatching because I actually don't understand how she fit that in there.
The things got real after 0:10 earth shook. And we felt that 💯
You sure can see the progression in Julia's playing and her grooves I remember when she was 14 and she was incredible then but she sat still and played now she's almost dancing while playing she's exciting to watch and listen to
Touches my heart and makes my head Bob…in rhythm. Gives me that core thought to hang on to as I hear the song…differently.
I love the feeling you out into each and every song you do !!!! I could watch your channel all day long... Your bass playing is like it becomes a part of you and it just flows so awesome !!!! Long live the funk !!!!
Julia is a bad mama jamma! Her humble swag is as impressive as her incredible bass playing. She makes you like songs you may have never paid much attention to until she covers them!
Julia absolutely ATE this! LOVE to see it! ❤
I hit like even before watching it!
I love u Julia! ❤️

Everything about that bass setup is perfect in this video. Just the right amount of bite in the tone, its not to rolled off, perfect sound coming out of that bass
A million views on this! Hell yeah, way to go Julia! This cover has a special place in my heart.
Absolutely shredding!
Wow, just wow!
Very well done. Those fills are pretty funnnky. Keep doing your thang, bass out!
I had played guitar for several years. This is the song that made me go out and buy a bass.
SAME!
Bravo Julia, you are truly the best bass player I have ever listened to in my entire life. Thank you so much for sharing your talent. I have been playing bass for less than a year, and your videos have helped me progress enormously. Many thanks 👍🙏
The cover I've been waiting for. YES LAWD
That bass is sooo DOPE!
I love to revisit this..Nod my head to this..LOVE THIS!!
How crazy good is Julia’s playing? As I listen to this one minute after it was released, there are 31 views, 39 Likes, and no dislikes.
Julia is the Chuck Norris of the bass world. If you are thinking of watching one of her videos, they are liked before you've even seen them.
I just needed this today. I started learnig bass because of you. Greetings from Italy

I love how you calmly play those songs , that's lovely to see and hear
The part from 2:25 to 2:31 is beyond words! It's amazing how good you play the bass. You groove!
YES!!!! This girl is off the chain!!!!👍🤩
Thank you so much for motivating me! I play bass for 2 years and could never really motivate myself to play some songs or just practise. Now I see your videos and they make me want to pick up my bass and groove around! Thank you Julia❤️
Everything sounds better with your bass.
I'm in love😂💕
Love this so much!!!! That bit at 2:07 and how you brought it back was nuts! You complemented Anderson .Paak's playing so well and made the song extra, extra saucy!!! Would love to hear you cover Don Blackman's Holding On, Loving You. I think you'd kill the bass on that song. Take care!
This person shreds your face! She's got MAJOR chops and impeccable timing. Girl needs to blow up!
so clean the musicman
