Hello, normally the operating temperature is about 200 degrees F, if the gauge shows hI, it means you are running hot. The engine may have a partially closed thermostat or low-anti-freeze coolant. Other problems such as out of range thermo-switch or leaky head gasket can cause the engine to run hot.
Yes. If you want a quick fix by the mean time you can add a manual switch to the plug. I did that to my bike. Only thing different my sensor was good, I just wanted to add a switch to it
I haven't seen my fan kick on in a bit an noticed this my rad gets hot asf. Mind ya the heads leaking a little lol its gonna get fixed an this needs ti be done for sure there's stuff in my coolant so freshrebuimd
One more thing, I see which harness you're removing, but it's not cool to be nonchalant about jumping across two points before identifying exactly which wires are being targeted, since the results may be undesirable to say the least. So perhaps you could flip that connector over and show the color of the wires? Know what I mean? thanks for posting.
Hey mate, goood video . My piaggio x7 300 has been parked up for about a year I rode it yesterday after about 35 mins the engine light came on but every things worked fine . When I stopped a few mins later I noticed the fan was working on full power but the temp gauge was non responding . I did check two earlier when I started bike I left it on idle for about 10 mins temp gauge worked fine and temp gauge was rising . But now as soon as I start the bike light come on and fan kicks in straight away . Any thoughts ?
great.You said absolutely nothing...I've got a DL 1000 with an overheat problem....did the fan check, did the thermostat replace.....Nothing....Still overheats...Five bars on the bike just in the hood....I did the Werks basket change and now? nothing but overheats ville!! My next step is to rebuild the WP...Would this solve the problem? ALL you did was show us how the fan works....which says nothing...if he still has the problem.....Get into it would ya!!
What about the radiator cap?? If the cap can't take the pressure, your engine will overheat. Simple to check and replace with the correct cap. The 3 simple diy checks are; radiator cap. Fan, and temperature sensor. After that, thermostat. Also check for old hoses which may collapse and constrict flow. If a hose feels soft, replace it. Check for a leak from the radiator when hot. If you still have problems, best to take it to a mechanic as you could be looking at head gasket or worse.

So if the fan come on when wires jumped. The fan is good. And the sensor is bad.
