James Dukes grew up in Orange Mound and attended White Station High School before leaving Memphis for higher education. His interest in music led him to the recording side of New York City's hip-hop scene, and as IMAKEMADBEATS (originally his user name on AOL Instant Messenger), his career as a music producer grew. He returned to Memphis and started his own music studio / label / collective - Unapologetic - nurtured on locally grown creative energy. IMAKEMADBEATS is writing another chapter in the long story of Memphis as a hotspot of American music. Chris McCoy hosts A Conversation with IMAKEMADBEATS.
