  • Compilation of some of the best Tactical and Medic Response Exercises Gravity has conducted with many partners over the last 5 years.
    Summary of utility;
    Medical;
    Akin to a Paramedic on a motorbike, or bicycle. Rapid access in difficult terrain or weather, to provide critical care for circumstances such as blood loss, breathing impairment and pain management to buy valuable time for evacuation.
    Military;
    Many scenarios both terrestrial and maritime where small groups of Specialist or Elite personnel need to move rapidly across tough terrain in any weather night or day. Fundamental infantry doctrine is founded on fire and manoeuvring (NOT firing while manoeuvring with no cover). The Jet Suit provides that manoeuvre leg with more speed, surprise (you cant hear or pin point when fast inbound to a position) and aggression over a few kms than virtually any other platform. Raiding, sabotage, counter ambush, OP extraction, Maritime Boarding, Counter Terror urban containment etc
    Gravity is currently progressing trials with over half a dozen allied military forces.

    Your jet packs absolutely amazing. I can see them being super useful for search and rescue. Anything tactical though, I wouldn’t want it yet. You’re a sitting duck in the air with no way to return fire until you land.

      It also shows how good the control is when piloting one. Being able to jump from a moving boat _to_ a moving boat really makes these far more versatile, especially when you consider that just about any aircraft can outrun a boat at top speed.

    I looks freaking silly at first, but when you realize that this technology can literally put a trained "whatever" wherever it's needed, whenever it's needed, you suddenly stop thinking like that. The paramedic is an amazing example of such truths, and would be nothing short of a guardian angel to someone in need - strobing lights and all. Given time, and how technology advances so fast, it shouldn't be too long before it at least looks less silly.

    Its a great idea, but the pack def needs to be way more compact, and may fit the recon or flanking roles better. If the enemy is any good, theyd be sure to make the "Jet Soldiers" a prime target, and is basically easy prey for snipers.
    To add, those packs prolly make alot of noise, so even though it likely wont be utilised for stealth operations, even in an active warzone, it may give away their squads position, or give the enemy an idea where the troops would mobilise and advance.

    For distances under 1 km it’d be far better to have a battery powered quadcopter style of drone carrying one, maybe 2 soldiers while a remote operator guides it to the target. The 2 spec ops troops could have their hands free for small arms or RPG style weapon use. The quadcopter could be made to be MUCH quieter than the jets, so less chances of detection during the insertion activity. Also doubles the manpower on scene quickly to overwhelm enemy positions.

  • @Hanz_Stuka

    Just so everyone knows….this jetpack concept has been around for decades. There is a reason its not mainstream and won’t be for a long long long time. Its expensive, fragile, unreliable, complex and dangerous and most importantly its got no room for error. If one little thing goes wrong mid flight, the flyer is dead or seriously injured.
    Special Ops uses water and parschute insertion because while also dangerous it has room for error. If your scuba equipment fails you have a back-up. If your parschute fails you have a back up.
    If one of those hand jets goes wonky, the flyer is thrown into a non-recoverable spin 30 feet from the ground with no height to recover.
    This stuff is exciting novelty and nothing more. It might have a few minor practical applications but not enough to make it cost effective. Drones are much better suited for search/locate missions.

    I could see the usability of soldiers climbing buildings in urban combat without entering buildings.
    Biggest threat we encountered entering buildings in urban environments; is the boobytraped stairs.
    Being able to move quickly to top of buildings to lay cover fire or eliminate snipers. Priceless.
    Carrying that pack plus ammo, water, communication, armor. Not something I see being practical.
    That pack takes the space of assault packs carrying ammo for extended fire fights. I guess you could have a MULE fly with soldiers to carry extra munitions.
    Plus the fuel source has got to be very limited.
    My small UAV I flew in army only had a 45 minute battery life in great weather. Light winds would knock it down to 20-30 minutes of flight time. Not to mention it’s lack of usability in light rains. It’s a great concept but it has to be halved in weight; and fuel life has to be doubled what it is now to be combat ready.
    for rescuing civilians of side of cliff or in remote areas. I see tremendous opportunities
