J-RF Raiding Exercise

- JetSuit Response Force (J-RF) exercise. A demonstration of the surprise speed and execution possible with the Jet Suit.
Foot patrol with only 30kg (66lbs) Jet Suit, up to dead ground launch point.
Both men advance rapidly over any terrain or obstacles using cover and dead ground.
1st man uses helmet steered weapon to provide cover during final advance to target with primary protection provided by 1st man who is now landed with eyes on target.
Assault is possible with only seconds on target before immediate self-ExFiltration.
The next level of realism would see minimum of a 4 man patrol working in buddy pairs.

Reality or fiction?
Reality: it definitely can fly
Fiction: the mission.
It's a proof of concept.
@@MadStyle1911 The problem in real-life situations is that you give away your location at all times with such a loud machine.
@@Joepser This is why all armies walk to engagements, all those vehicles you see them using are fake....
I think it would be better suited for SAR
@@stormchaser3203 definitely, quickly locating people in trouble and giving basic first aid till an air ambulance can get is what this is perfect for!
Still waiting on Gravity Industries and Boston Dynamics teaming up to fly an Atlas around autonomously... 😉
boston dynamics just recently announced that they won't pivot their robots into military use
@@efraim6960 That's just on the official record. We all know the military has deep pockets and is probably more than interested in their work.
That is actually end of the world technology, flying autonomous war robots
You mean a drone?
@@PALE1ISTEHBEST no more like if you added jets to the Boston dynamics robot and gave it a gun
Not stealthy but 100% shock and awe !
its not supposed to be a stealth mission, obviously this equipment would never work for that
@@SanOcelotl then it shouldn't be two person op.
Correct, this wouldn't be suitable for stealth.
But it's good for a rapid action
What are they doing??? The bad guys heard them from a thousand miles away and left the area 3 hours ago
Absolutely a great way to recapture the initiative during combat. Rapid repositioning of troops
This only works if stealth is not needed at all
Shock and awe baby
Multiple pilots coming from Multiple directions would cause some panic and confusion I'd imagine
yeah I don't think the man portable Jet Engines were ever meant for stealth mission sets.
Like in an existing, ongoing battle
Nothing screams tactical like being able to expose your body to a hail of bullets in mere seconds ... and have a loud jet engine noise alert your enemies to look for the "pop-up target" 🎯
Wow, the graphics in this game are pretty realistic 🙂
We need a few of these for the paintball course.
This isn’t a game this is real life

It's like the Warhammer 40k Assault Troops with their "Jump Packs", not far off, except they are much more armored. My Nerd levels are rising high. Keep up the good work.
And now that we have a Space Force in the US we can have real life Space Marines.
Curious to see how the helmet operated weapon works. Haven't been able to get much data on it but they're making it.
And if no one can tell, they have funding, and are doing enough stunts with the military that it is being taken very seriously.
Which military?
@@MNO-zo8ec my guess would be British military. The owner has done shows for the British and is from there, I believe.
Thats right, gravity industries is a UK company
It looks like the gun points wherever the operator is looking. The weapon is calibrated with the operator’s straight-forward gaze and turning the head will turn the gun. Firing is probably done through a trigger in the gloves. It seems like a weird system that would probably miss a lot since the operator has to pay attention to their own velocity in order to shoot accurately.
@@stormchaser3203 the original goal for this was for mountain rescue in the UK, with major success in training for mountain rescue teams.
Obviously, the military saw capabilities of this and paid for this stuff.
I've seen some Americans try and claim this, like they do, but this is a British made piece of equipment
It may never work for covert ops like this but the sight of a guy flying into battle must be intimidating.
@@ts757arse the big problem is theyre defenceless while flying so the loud noise just screams 'vulnerable man flying low'
I disagree, actually. If you want to land troops inside a location, use a damn helicopter -- which at least has some ability to avoid getting killed by any Ivan with a rifle or GPMG spray, and can actually shoot back.
@@ts757arse Your point is invalid. This nonsense offers no advantage over a conventional helo insertion. Dead ground isn’t magic, it just blocks line of sight - it doesn’t stop sound, and you’d have to be deaf to not notice the jet engines screaming. Notice how they used the music to cover the absolutely absurd racket? Jet engines are terrifically loud, and small, inefficient turbo-jets are the worst of them.
And secondly, have you ever tried to actually perform individual soldier tasks with 30kg of dead weight - noting that this lunacy doesn’t help at all with weight on the ground and precludes the use of a rucksack?
It’s vaporware, plain and simple.
Not really intimidating, while in flight they cant use a weapon so theyre an easy target
Problem with this jet pack is once you're airborne you're a sitting duck. Can't defend yourself from attack until you land, and they can hear you coming from afar it's loud af. If you injure an arm you can't fly, you need both. Voice activation might help, words like hover, reverse, up, down, left right, pan, escape along with a gyro stabilizer to free up both hands if needed.
Supposedly they’re working on an attached turret working in sync with the pilot’s helmet…we’ll see. Military is obviously paying attention
Yeah they should have an stabilizer on the backpack that only stands still and you can shoot
this kind of gear requires a support team when things go wrong and something always goes wrong sooner or later. jet suit scouts engage after sneaking in on foot, use shock, awe, and element of surprise. go loud from optimal cover, jet back to squad hidden in camo at forest for secondary ambush or exfil.
Imagine what kind of mad raids a platoon of well trained soldiers with this could do, just flying in from the sky and infiltrating behind enemy lines. My thoughts goes to the scene in the Mandalorian when mandalores comes to rescue in the town flying in with their jetpacks
And why would something with an audio signature more in line with a jet aircraft be better than a helicopter or parachute drop?
@@jamesharding3459 Because this is 100x cooler
@@jamesharding3459 Oh, did they release the decibel levels?
@@DrReginaldFinleySr Not that I'm aware of. I did a little bit of extrapolation with my knowledge of how jet turbine noise levels scale.
@@jamesharding3459 silent HALO drop with the chute and exfil with the jet suit. This is the way.
A mission set this technology would actually be useful in is High Rise Exfil. This could add a whole new layer of tactics to building and compound raids. Being able to quickly land on the top of a structure without loitering like a helicopter would be invaluable. This is potentially an answer to MANPADS becoming more ubiquitous on the battlefield. This could also have SWAT implications for large cities. EDIT: I'm also very curious as to how well this interfaces with paratroopers. Would this be capable of safely arresting an entire C-130 worth of boots? I wonder how much time that could shave off the 82nd's "anywhere in 18 hours" claim, with the caveat that all the logistics and training are already in place.
Yes indeed, it'll save paratrooper and parajumper lives. It'll save Helo pilot lives. And it'll be a fraction of the cost of all that kit that goes into a Blackhawk or Seahawk
The machine can do that 3-4 meter off ground thing for 10 minutes if wiki is a valid source. Don't think paratroopers would be much interested in it. Maybe as a landing gear, but it's a tad too expensive for that, even if potentially recoverable.
Spectacular ? Yes , indeed !
Secretly ? Nope!
LOOK THAT SUPER NICE JET PACK
Anyone who has shot at birds or clay pigeons will refuse to fly this mission on the grounds of not being suicidal.
THIS is what I thought we would have when I was a kid 40 years ago. I think another GREAT concept would be a sniper, not using the jets for the way in....but for the way out. YES lugging that gear into a situation where you are trying to be stealthy and not get discovered, BUT once the mission is complete having the sniper team be able to exit the area and put lots of ground between them and the enemy, I think it could work.
If you saw 20 troops coming in like that it’d definitely be a brown trouser situation.
No, anyone with an ounce of actual training could pick those idiots out of the air in a couple of seconds!! The noise being the biggest giveaway to where they are. This is a really really stupid idea!!
You could have popped in for a cup of tea on the way home, Richard!
Flys in. Throws a grenade. Leaves.

Spectacular ❤️💪
This setting is so beautiful. Garden of Eden
So many Can'ters here Richard, they just can't see the miracle you are creating. Keep up the marvellous progress.✌️🇬🇧
Skepticism is never a bad thing. Blind faith though, that's called delusion.
It's a neat concept. I'd personally love to fly one about.
But it has absolutely zero practical use in a military setting. Don't be like Mike Sparks, the orthodoxy shifts only slowly because the orthodoxy is _right._
I love it!
mind blowing!
You could do this same mission with drones. But this tech would be way more useful outside combat situations.
At a substantial fraction of the cost, in money and lives! These go for something like 400K a pop last I saw. So, instead of 800K for those two shooting ducks, you could have a drone swarm, with no operators risking their lives.
That is so sweet! I would love to fly like that!
"I heard you have not been using your facemask,... we have come to you for a visit"
i would also say promoting combat machine airsoft weapons is actualy a good idea as im sure they would love to see there kit in action in a training scenario like this
bad guys: "definitely can't hear the jet engines blasting. nope!"
If i hear a FFFFFFFFFFFF The last thing i would imagine will be some jet troopers raiding my ass.
You mean all bad guys aren't NPC'S? Tell me it ain't so! ;)
That´s super
You guys need a predator style laser on the helmet for the gimbal pistol.
Nothing screams tactical like being able to expose your body to a hail of bullets in mere seconds ... and have a loud jet engine noise alert your enemies to look for the "pop-up target" 🎯
drawbacks: flight time, noise level, one round to arm fall out of sky, one round through fuel tank (front or back) and its a fireball. Recommend exo-skeleton strap into frame, head tracker or some form of flight computer to allow for hands to hold weapon(s) perhaps a parachute from altitude for silent insertion
Dude I could clear the leaves outta my back yard so fast with this thing.
don't know about military application, but what a great way to go to work.
awesome
Drones and jetpacks. Is this a new age of flight were witnessing the birth of here?
good job 👀
Ok guys, we have to do this quickly and quietly:
*Starts Jet engine*
With all that fuel on your back gonna have a ww2 flamethrower problem all over again.
An interesting idea, but anyone using these jetpacks are going to be making a LOT of noise when flying around, which is not a good thing if your goal is to sneak up on an opponent. And because you'll need to use those hand-thrusters to maneuver around, you won't be able to shoot back at anyone firing at you from the ground, leaving you all but defenseless. Lastly, a typical soldier carries anywhere to 60 to 100 pounds of equipment in the field; adding a 66 pound jetpack not only adds even more weight, which will tire them even more quickly.
This jetpack is an interesting idea, but I think there are a lot of problems to work out before it's anywhere near combat ready.
this is just the horse-and-carriage-version. wait til they reach the formula-1-version! :P
"which is not a good thing if your goal is to sneak up on an opponent"
what if your goal is not to sneak up on an opponent, but rather to do a shock and awe assault?
I mean, they can do it with helicopters
I think this can be very usefull on sea, sabotaging missions or sea invasion
To improve effectiveness further, it might be wise to have a third man doing area surveillance with a UAV and a fourth man as a reserve
They need a remote control targeting system for cover during take off and landing Kinda like a drone pilot. But just for the weapons systems with manual disconnect for safety
Amazing tech can aslo be used in rescue and life saving missions
Future is here.
I have trouble seeing it's use beside a troop transport/to traverse difficult terrain. It's too loud near the enemy.
People keep saying "HuRr DuRr EnGiNeS lOuD", like jets, helicopters and cars are absolutely quiet. What it is deffinitely useful at, are very fast traversial over difficult terrain without needing special landing zones, quick reposition of people, getting over lakes and rivers fast without boats and bridges, potentially even getting quick to other vehicles like APCs and helicopters without them needing to get directly into the hazardous zones. There ARE useful aplications for these for military, police, firefighters, medical crews, etc, tho it's very specific aplication.
Now you just need to do a featuring with Devtac ^^
I'm literally impressed with this technology though, I'm curious to know how strong arms you should have to use this equipment.
You can see that they are exhausted even with training. However, as a soldier, we were trained to carry 40 to 85 pounds. With enough training, I can imagine it being very useful. As they become lighter, which they will, this won't be a problem. Fuel is also a concern but which newer technologies, this will also cease to be a major concern for short distances, especially.
@@DrReginaldFinleySr Thanks for detailed explanation and sharing your insight, Reginald. Yeah, that’s true. The further improvements will surely bring a disruptive innovation to battlefields. I’m looking for seeing a real-life iron man in my own eyes in the near future.
Seriously people the hands are minor flight adjustments. It's a JETPACK with a 1000hp turbine in it.
I would love to build one
That's why you need small autonomous interceptor kamikaze drones.
Завывая реактивными движками, двое разведчиков незаметно проникли в деревню.
"Детали прилетели!" - обрадовались местные.
:)
It certainly would hamper the surprise element , that is why small buddy pair system is still superior , they have to overcome the high noise factor with the jetpack
Notice the use of music to obfuscate the fact that it sounds more like an F-16 than a rifleman running through a bush. This is a publicity stunt, nothing more.
These are definitely better for a fast exfil rather than entry, if they can find a way to make them quieter it will be revolutionary for entry and while somebody in a building won't hear the direction its coming from accurately there is nothing that the teams can do mid flight until they find a way to keep the suit flying hands free, a steering system rigged to the upper body may work for that because then they can fly while firing which is definitely a big advantage loud or not.
This is transport not a fighting platform. It will have way less exposure to enemies than vehicle dismounted troop will have.
@@sparksmcgee6641 For now, we mankind have a way of finding a way 🤣

I'd be scared of a malfunction and then falling to death
@@NoaVanSnick I think they specifically said that it's the only reason why they don't fly very high and why most of the testing was done above some lakes, rivers and sea - the jets are more than powerful enough to fly thousands of meters high - but they would rather be a couple weirdos that fell on their back than a couple weirdos who killed themselves 😆
When these jetpacks will be disponible for sale?

Pretty awesome. Though the noise factor makes them not very tactically sound.
Quick we need to deliver these jet packs to Poland so they can make winged hussars 2.0
Pair this with the Microsoft halo lens! 🔥
Im confused about the people here. They are pointing out problems when the use of the suit is completely different. Its not meant to be stealthy, its meant to be a quick way to get A to Z. This is simply a showcase of the speed after you land that you can start moving.
You can already land fast and start moving from a helicopter. These are literally just individual helicopters but without all the features that make helicopters better. For example, a heli can shoot back. Also what happens if one of these jetpacks goes down on exfil? Now you got a dude lost and alone with no gear who now has to trek. They are just shit helis
@@louisromero2320dude seriously think before commenting. Can a helicopter fly in fog? What about land on a mountain side that has a 50 degree slope?
People like you only know what you've seen in movies and compare it to that.
Just thought of this, 3am, mountainside cave complex at 12,000ft. 20 to 30 targets inside. Fly in 50 of these as drones dropping 2 military dogs each. Then a squad lands and follows them in.
Now you tell me how a helicopter could do the same job without a drop area in a miles distance.
Anyone remember the old joke, "I just flew in from New York, and boy are my arms tired."

Jetpack, think about it.
This could eliminate the need for chutes or harness for repelling from a chopper. Low hover and fly down drop pack start mission. The chopper will mask the jet pack noise. Could even use the chopper as cover as it'll just sound like a chopper not 15 dudes with jetpacks so they could even jump and move closer to the target by masking their decent by having the chopper follow to the drop zone.
