What a great video. You are the only one who explains each step hands on. Thanks so much for sharing.
Straight to business! love it
Thanks
I got a Yihua 948 vacuum de-soldering pump..it works great, fast, and it not expensive.
I was checking those out on Amazon and did notice they are very affordable.
Im wondering how it will do over time and what the maintenance is like. The FR301 does seem to require a decent amount of maintenance which can be a pain. It is however an excellent tool and works very well.
@@NicksTVRepair Not as good as the Hakko but for the money can't beat it. I've used the hell out of mine. I does not need frequent cleaning, like 2 hrs of solid desoldering till it clogged.
wow that's nice.
Многовато припоя уходит(
Проще помазать флюсом, три вывода нагреть, и также потянуть за транзистор. Отверстия очистить зубочистой с флюсрм смоченной.
И не забыть проверить затворные резисторы.
great videos
Glad you like them!
Superb nice video
Thank you!
is this some kind of backlight driver???
It is a Z-sustain board for plasma sets.
My understanding is that its job is to clear data on the screen to allow for new data to populate the pixels.
I could be wrong though.
If anyone knows more, please let me know.
I thought you had a Hakko FR-301 Desoldering Tool
Yes, I do haha I don't know what happened, I guess I was so focused on the video that I completely forgot to use it. That was the perfect job for it too.
Thanks. As a professional technician, why you don't use an electric desoldering gun?
We do, I use it in certain videos but not always. I think I actually was just so focused on doing the video I actualy forgot we had one haha.
can you fix instrument cluster for my chevy suburban 1500 it has burn light bulbs gages dont work i have a harness for testing
Send me an email directly, with some more details. We have fixed some of these in the past and i think we can fix this one for you, but would like a few more details.
Do you have a part number for the cluster? What is the harness you are using for testing? can you give me more details on it?
The email is support@nickstvs.com
What soldering iron do you use?
We have a Hakko FX-951 at every soldering station in our shop.
Thank you! At what temperature are you soldering for this sustain board repair, especially for the desoldering?
Depends on the tip you use. To make it easier I usually go around 400c-450c if you go to much higher you won't really get that much better result it and you will burn out the tips faster. If you can't get it done at 400c-450c then use more flux or add more new solder first to get the joint to flow and then desolder.
Great! Thanks Nick! I'll try with more temperature and a different tip!
Personally I like to use higher temps for shorter periods of time. If you know what you are doing you can go hotter but know that the longer you stay on your joints at the hotter temps the more likely you are to damage the board.
However the opposite also happens. People sometimes solder at lower temps but then have to hang out on the joint for way longer and that also can damage the board/traces.
Personnaly I think spending a shorter amount of time on the joints at a higher temp is less damaging than longer at a lower temp.
It really is a kind of art, so just practice and see what works for you and what doesn't.
Practice makes better.
Is that soldapult suction gun?
It's a ZD-106 desoldering pump
@@NicksTVRepair I can't say how much money I've wasted on de-solder pumps, so much junk. Hakko stuff is crazy expensive right now.
I did the same thing u did but nothing click and back off😂
Leon,
Shoot that's a bummer. Yeah sometimes the faults are worst, or sometimes there are different areas where the board develops cracked joints. It's also possible the Y-sustain is defective as well and also needs work.
If you want to send in your board to our shop via mail, we have a flat rate mail-in repair service for the repair of these. We know they can be tough, we can fix them for you. Reach out to me via email or by filling the contact form on our website and we can go from there.
