While covering elections we tried to know the culture of the district and state too. Patiala is known for Phulkari making. A particular area naming Tripani is pull of people who are making Phulkari since ages. These people have been migrated from Bhawalpur which lies in Pakistan now.

This isn't true that a handwork phulkari won't be similar on the reverse. It really depends on the artist making the embroidery. Generally dupattas would be made in a way that they would have designs on both sides. Phulkari is like a satin stitch. Take the thread on the other side and you have a pattern on the back too. Depends on the artist and the resources at disposal. I mean it would require a lot of thread which is expensive.
