GREAT Chicago song to listen to when you need "positive motivation". Whenever I don't have energy, like to Work Out, this song always give me an emotional boost! Its just so uplifting and positive. The song should be "sad", because it's about a great relationship that has finally ended. But rather than dwelling on the pain and loss, the lyrics predict that his strength is returning. And the stength didn't just come back at once, but relistically bit by bit, he's "getting stronger every day". The late-60's/mid-70's was the best time for music!

I love a ton of Chicago songs, mostly older but a couple newer, but this remains my absolute favorite. I like everything about it from every angle on every level. And there is absolutely no way for me to sit still during this song. It is literally impossible.
The first part of that song almost gives me something like a Stevie Wonder in slow motion vibe, it's wonderful.
And Chicago is one of those lucky bands, like Kansas and the Beatles and Three Dog Night, where you essentially had multiple lead singers in a band. It just gives you so much flexibility and I love it. That means the backing vocals are always guaranteed to be incredible as well.

When Jimi Hendrix met Chicago at the Whisky-a-Go-Go in LA, he told them their horns sounded like they were blowing through one set of lungs they were so tight, and he admitted that Terry Kath was a better guitarist than him. He invited them to tour with him, but died before it could be worked out. Imagine Jimi and Terry Kath shredding side-by-side...

Chicago had 3 Lead singers. Robert (keyboards) Terry (guitar) Peter (bass) Peter was the last member recruited for the original lineup. They liked his vocals and he could play bass freeing up Terry to play lead and rhythm guitar. Peter was considered the best and became the main vocalist as they morphed into power Ballads.

Terry Kath and Chicago, "Wishing You Were Here", '74 New Year's Rockin' Eve Chicago and the Beach Boys boys toured together and Peter wrote this song to play with them.
Terry and Peter both sing lead in this one. The Beach Boys do their great backing vocals. Peter normally plays Bass but in this one he is playing an acoustic guitar while Terry plays bass.

Cool reaction. The drums are so underrated in this song and recorded brilliantly. You can here every crash of the cymbals. Especially on the opening chords. It’s something I made a mental note of years ago but still surprises me when I hear this song.

Early Chicago was soooo good and I have been really enjoying your reactions to them. One Chicago song that I rarely hear reactions to that I would recommend is "In the Country" from Chicago II. It is one of my favorites. They also performed it in that Tanglewood concert that you have reacted to a couple of times. You really can't go wrong with any song off the first two albums especially.
