It doesn't matter how much the company cares. If the individual who's lifting your bag doesn't care, it will happen over and over.

Very wrong. If the company cared, they’d care to train their employees to do their job with respect and respect their employees, they’d monitor problem areas and people, and they’d make it policy to have consequences for bad behaviors.

My late Husband worked for United Airlines as a mechanic and He used to watch mailbags fall off the baggage handlers carts and instead of picking them up, they would just leave them where they fell. No one but the baggage handlers could pick them up. Sometimes those bags stayed there for a month. After 3 weeks only a Mail Supervisor could pick them up after that. Baggage Handlers are really lazy and apathetic.

That is unfortunate. Those golf bags are very heavy and should be marked accordingly. It seems that equipment can only be brought to a certain distance of a plane, and manual labor is required to close the gap. I wonder how many planes those guys had to pack on that busy travel day with that antiquated equipment? That is a leadership problem of Delta!
The coach should consider taking that issue up with the golf bag manufacturer if any golf clubs were actually broken in that event as well.

FYI: Unfortunetly Those were a contract company
Delta is a great company to work for they care about their customers and employees . It would help if airlines would invest in loading and unloading equipment better staffing for their employees . Some of those suitcases are extremely heavy. At the end of the day the handlers lifiting heavy bags , boxes etc. Because of the lack of equipment and staffing it takes a toll on the body. Several have been out due to work injuries mainly shoulder injuries.

This is a PSA for everyone reading the comments section. Unless you’re the biggest airline at the airport/your main hub, airlines typically do NOT handle their own baggage. What is known as GROUND SERVICES (baggage handling, the pre-flight stocking of food/drinks/supplies, etc.) are CONTRACTED with ground handling agencies that are based at that specific airport. The airlines only hire the companies there to handle all those logistics, but have no control over the actual employees doing the work. Hope that will clear up some confusion for those of you blaming Delta.

Quit over packing and find a way to wash the 2 outfits you brought on vacation. It’s time we take back our freedom and quit being taken advantage of by these airlines. This is totally normal. Somebody has never had a behind the sceens look at baggage handling. I worked in baggage claims right beside oversized luggage. They don’t care about your belongings. They are just doing their job. They are outsourced from a company similar to Kelly services and are given bare minimum training. Being gentle with your luggage cuts into being efficient with time. Always take items you care about in your carry on luggage or wrap it very well if not mail it to your destination.
With the way most boxes from FedEx, UPS and USPS look dented and scratched, I don’t think the process is much different. They give little care in how the package is handled. It’s on you to make sure you package it properly to prevent damage.

To everyone: If I knew you were in danger would you want me to tell you? Of course! You might not be in danger currently but what about when you die? You'll be going to one of two places, Heaven or hell. I'm here to help you make the right choice so you don't burn in eternal torment. Jesus Christ came and died for your sins so that you could be forgiven and live in His Kingdom forever. This gift of eternal life is free and all you have to do is accept it, repent of your sins then live for Him. He will give you a new heart to where you will love righteousness. This wicked world is coming to a close so please repent today while there is still time.Trust me, you don't want to face what's coming without The Lord. God bless!

For those of you complaining, I wish you would live a day in these men’s lives. I bet after a few minutes you’ll be tossing bags like trash bags also. They have to rush to the next flight as soon as they finish up here.

Wow. All the hate for the baggage handlers. Have you ever had to carry 20 golf bags in a row? Had the stack them? Heavy golf bags too (over 50lbs.)?
That first drop and slide was FINE. If your clubs are so fragile they can’t be gently placed on the ground, then you have shitty clubs.
The handlers should have moved the cart that they chose to put the clubs to right in front of the belt, begging the need to take them so far.
And to the ones thinking baggage handlers don’t care about their jobs… do you put maximum effort and care into your job? Do you ever have bad days? Tired of being overworked? Uh huh. Thought so.
