Playing Al Hirt’s trumpet & mouthpiece

- Thanks to Charles Villarrubia, after Rhythm & Brass’s concert I got to play one of Al Hirt’s trumpets, a decades-old Leblanc in beautiful condition. What a horn!
Slides were stuck all the way in and the mouthpiece is the smallest I’ve ever seen, so I struggled- a lot, even to hit the right notes 😅 - but I still felt a brush with greatness!
Filmed by Tom Brantley 🙏

I have to transcribe this to commence playing jazz, postponed too long. This sounds short, though challenging, will try
Hi Michael - sorry for the late response! Thanks for this, but there are probably much better things for you to transcribe :) - I would suggest going right to Chet Baker and early Miles Davis if you already have some confidence as a transcriber. If not, then I would suggest simply learning songs - any kind of songs - by ear, before moving to transcription of jazz solos. Wishing you the best of success!
What exact model is this trumpet.?
You know, I'm embarrassed to admit that I can't remember. I think it was a Holton...I will ask the owner right now and get back to you.
The 'real' Al Hirt trumpet was a LeBlanc, made by Courtois
whats the model number on receiver
I didn't catch that at the time, sorry. I'm in touch with the owner to see if he can look that up for me.
what song is this
"All of Me" by Gerald Marks and Seymour Simons
