- Bart heads out without Stacy and it's back to the club to support Rhino!
This gig highlights the foundation of a good gig when all three elements come together that make a great show for all!
1. The room
2. The PA
3. The band
Sit back and enjoy this quick club gig and experience these elements in motion!

The Sound Couple primarily use PreSonus gear featuring:
PreSonus UC Surface
PreSonus CDL12
PreSonus CDL18s
PreSonus 32R
PreSonus SW5E
PreSonus NSB Stageboxes
PreSonus AVB-D16
This may have been a shorter video, but it was packed with information, helpful tips, and lots of opportunities to learn. Also, The Band Rhino gave a nice tip-of-the-hat to Bart. As always, thanks to The Sound Couple for sharing your professionalism with us.
You're welcome Dean! We appreciate your support!
So glad to see the X32. I have a Midas M32C and a SL32 stage box in a 4 space rack. I run it from a Windows laptop. EZ PZ. NO MOVING PARTS !!!
Sweet!
X32 is a very good soundboard in my opinion! It's a dream come true...
Congratulations, another TOP video
Thanks a lot!
Great video!
Thanks!
Nothing better than working with a band you know, in a room you know with a system you know. More often than not, I have one of the three (the system), and sometimes two (the system and the band); very rare I have all three!
It typically results in having simply a good night!
As a freelance soundy, it’s so great when you work in a club that has their system all sorted out. You really don’t have time to be reinventing the wheel to get the job done.
Nor should you need to be the systems engineer....it does happen sometimes.
Thank you two!
Our pleasure! Thanks for watching!
You are very welcome Paolo!
Thanks for sharing.
You bet!
Hey they even gave ya a shout out on stage 🤘🏽
It's always appreciated!
Really love you guys. What camera and sound equipment do you use for these videos? Audio sounds great!
Wow! Thanks for the comment...we have to keep it simple and quick so the majority of our footage is captured on our iPhone 12 Pro Max...isn't that crazy?? We do have an old GoPro Hero 3 that you will see sometimes as well. We upgraded to a new one, but those overheat and shutdown so we returned it.
Enjoyed this one guys. Keep up the great content.
Just dropped a small gig log myself here in the UK.
Not band based but that’s coming shortly.
Keep us posted! I think our channel has really helped us and hopefully helped you all do your job better. It's a lot of work and we continue to make mistakes and stumble...and that's on me trying to get it right and stressing out about things. Stacy keeps me in check and things do typically work out. If you watched any videos on starting a UA-cam channel, it definitely can add stress, but it's worth it! We should consider a blooper segment....last week this person was totally rude about us filming....I may include the footage just because she was such a "B" about it...we will see how we feel when we get to that one!
@@thesoundcouple Certainly will! I’ve watched a fair few of your videos and it’s great to see the venues and different scenarios you find yourselves in. The blooper element sounds entertaining!
Waiting for Presonus to release a offline editor is so frustrating 🙄
One reason I went with x32 after my entire ecosystem was Presonus since 2009
Totally get it...
Truee i want a offline editor so i can make a preshow scene
Another fun video. Thank you two!
Question: Curious what lighting controller you're using.
The light board belongs to the venue...it's called a Sunny 512.
The best consol for me.
As a console, they have a nice control surface.
First time I've seen an x32 compact wall mounted for monitors lol. Usually it's an x32 rack. Don't hate it just a strange choice
Faders on a club system is never a bad offering, imo.
Ever mess with the mixing station app?
Yes, only on my own time. Have heard good things about it, but just more comfortable sticking to the x32 app based on the time I spend on it.
I was having kittens when you started altering the gains during the song (as it would alter the in-ears) - then I remembered they had their own in-ear setup pre FOH-mix 🙂
The X32 is the desk I use regularly - how does it compare to your usual Presonus?
Great video as always.
As a control surface console, I do like the X32 layout and metering better. For what we do for our own production, the PreSonus Ecosystem fits our needs better. I also do believe that the PreSonus board sounds better. As you will see in future videos, we really start using in-ear systems more. We are winning people over and part of the feedback we receive is how good their mix sounds....we believe that is partially attributed to PreSonus console.
Hey Bart quick question. How do you plug a Dj into your sound system? Do you go from either XLR or RCA to quarter inch and pan left right? Or, do you go straight in quarter but keep the pen at 12 o’clock?
I know when I have a DJ plug into my system, I prefer xlr going into my mixer. Many DJs have rca outs. These should get their own direct box with xlr outputs so the signal becomes balanced going into my mixer. RCA connectors are not a professional type of connector and most pro mixers have no provisions for these kinds of connectors. Do yourself a favor and do the conversion to xlr yourself. You will be loved by the sound guy, or gal. Oh, also do not go above the yellow on your interface! Always send a reasonable signal to a PA system, and never go into the red. If you need more in your monitor, let the sound human give you more.
I couldn't say it better myself. We carry and RCA to XLR DI, but typically, they handle that and we just provide the XLR cable. I would just make sure you understand and account for stereo/mono hook ups and be able to support either. In a video coming up soon (not sure if we can actually play the segment because of copyright), we didn't properly test the output from clients laptop and we were missing one side....a bit embarrassing for us since we signed off on it.
@@sound4uaudiovideorecording927 Thank you for the response. I'm still a little foggy, Let me explain. I've been using analog mixers for a couple of years now (Mackie pro fx12 v3) It works great, but I want to try a digital mixer. I like walking around during speeches and dinner and adjusting the volume, to name a few. At the moment I do run RCA to 1/4 because it's less than a 6 foot run. Looking the the mixer i'm interested in (Yamaha DM3S) there's not RCA jack and no stereo pair like on my analog board. My mixer is a pioneer S11. I can run RCA or XLR main out. You've already mentioned RCA isn't processional, so should I run XLR to 1/4 and plus that into the combo jacks? Do I need to pan them at all? These are the things I'm unsure about.
1:45 What is the software you are using? Is it being used primarily to record the performance?
The software is x32 Edit. It is a software controller for Behringer x32 consoles, which includes an offline editor...functionality that is desperately lacking in the PreSonus world. Not to get on a soapbox, but that feature alone is single handedly blocking them from becoming an industry standard console....the power of an engineer coming in and loading the show on a console is critical to standardizing the experience and console.
@@thesoundcouple That is the reason why I stepped away from PreSonus and bought Midas; not being able to do pre-show prep is (quite frankly) a pain in the ass, so much so I dropped one ecosystem and invested in another. If PreSonus got an offline editor nailed, I think they would take a lot of market share from Behringer/Midas as their consoles sound great. Unfortunately, a console needs to be a lot more than good sounding.
Top. Ótimo trabalho. Parabéns. 😊🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Obrigado... e obrigado por assistir!
The FAQ shirt. I've had people come ask for song request on a few gigs. I just text the lead singer
I thought we had telepathic powers!
@@thesoundcouple That's funny
1:27 .. that's an interesting modification of that mackie swa1501
i saw that too and scratched my head
What am I missing?
@@thesoundcouple I think someone flipped the horn inside out
Interesting....the only thing I can say is that these are really old...probably going on at least 20 years. They don't appear to be mod'd, but I wouldn't necessarily know unless it was obvious. @@christianjohnson9102
@@thesoundcouple oh yeah! Surprising they have croaked yet! I have one of the 1801 version and it’s still going strong
Thank you for the videos too huge help
I have used the rack mount x32 with an iPad for so long now I would be completely lost using a console.
I feel the same with but on the PreSonus side....I am very much software first for the nuts and bolts, and I am ok running a show from console.
Subtitules in spanish please 😢
