- Hey team, I had so much fun when I took the mustang out to the track. It made me think, I need a race car, a dedicated race car. But what should I use, then I remembered I had an EF XR8 and XR6 sitting in my back yard. Check out the cars and which one I'm going to build into a race car. Hint it's the XR6.

One of my favourite cars, I had a gunmetal EFXR8 with sunroof. Took it to the drags, skidpan and lots of cruises, good times. Have fun!
Gunmetal was an awesome colour too. Sounds like you had heaps of fun with yours. I'll try my best to do the same.
Suspension - change everything to adjustable (control arms, sway bars, shocks, etc) and replace all bushes with super pro stuff
Absolutely! I like the way you think...
A Ford AND Buffy fan, subscribed!
Lol, thanks! I appreciate the support...
I had a cobalt blue manual sunroof xr8 n parted it out haha back when they were worth more in parts
I know exactly what you're saying, when I bought the AU XR8 to power my XD it was cheaper to buy the whole car than just the engine.
@@rossspec6585 I did the same thing but put the ef xr8 drive line into a xe sedan
Nice! That would have been a weapon.
Awesome 😎
Man they look great i have a 1994 ef xr6 white , a 1995 ef xr8 heritage green. and a 1996 el xr6 heritage green will be great to see how far you go with both of then
That is a great selection, I'm jealous!
@rossspec6585 haha the xr8 is my dads and same as the el xr6 but still get to drive them they go like hell
Still counts! I have a real soft spot for the e series. Love to hear they're still being loved and going hard.
Yea the xr8 is going to put on the road soon can't wait
So good to hear, have fun!
Id only buy the xr8 for the 302 Windsor to go into my 75 TD cortina because I already have two xr6 xh both manual Utes one 96 navy blue and one 98 ice white xr6 go quicker than the 8s
Oh hell yeah, that engine in a Cortina would be heaps of fun.
I have a 1994 ef xr6 same colour and it hasn’t been in a accident and is missing the exact stuff as yours is so I’m guessing maybe it was just those models didn’t come out with the inserts
They definitely all came with the inserts. They do fall out too which might have happened to yours. I'm thinking mine has had an accident because every piece of plastic that goes behind the bumper is missing too...
I can't see either ever being fast, but that doesn't really matter if you're out there enjoying yourself!
Tyres, suspension, brakes and some safety, then get out there at a few track days and hillclimbs to see what else it needs!
I do similar Motorsport in my EK4, though have a soft spot for these E series Falcons, spending my early motoring years in a EF Fairmont wagon and then EL Future sedan.
Thanks mate, they don't have to be super fast, just class fast. 😀
Definitely tyres, brakes, suspension then some weight reduction and a cage/harnesses would be good. In the end even if it's slow as it's still a car I've always loved so the time spent will be worth it.
hey mate just subbed glad i found the channel looking forward to see how it goes
Thanks mate, appreciate the support!
i want oneeeeee
My I won't say racecar is a 2000 au falcon i6 sohc the engine is a ea falcon 3.9 Peter Brock bottom end with a vct au XR6 head that's been built from bottom to top mace rods and pistons crow cam and rockers ARP hardware ti performance turbo kit race works spec fuel system and a built t5 5 speed box running haltech ecu coil overs on all 4 corners bf falcon fpv big brakes
She's just needs to e caged and will be hitting the tracks Winton Heathcote Calder parkand hopefully Phillip island bdspring
au irs could be a good upgrade for it if the rules allow, it will make it more rear heavy though, unless you do all tubular arms
I like the way you think. Unfortunately the rules probably wouldn't allow it as you can't change the pick up points. Technically the IRS cradle mounts to the old pick up points but you have to add the rear ones. I think that's where they'd get ya.
@@rossspec6585 if the old watts link bar mounts are strong enough, you could make an adapter flange from them to the rear mounts, doesn't say anything about reinforced suspension pick up points, otherwise BMW's wouldn't be allowed lol
Interesting, something to think about...
Good choice. A proper set up xr6 will be quite quick. The 6 cylinder production car guys have it sussed out. Xr8 looks too good to destroy.
Thanks mate, I agree with you.
🎉😊
Sacrilege, but what the heck have fun👌
I hear you, it would have been a nice car before it went under the flood. But everything is crusty or doesn't work properly now. Definitely could br brought back but would need a sweet doner to make everything 100%.
dedicated racecar! your gonna put # plates on it?""..."
Don't worry the XR8 won't be a race car. I was going to fully modify it but when I got the report for Ford I decided to bring it back to factory stock. That's why I bought the flood damaged XR6 to easily get all the pieces I was missing. So that will be the racecar..
What would i do? Swap it for an AU!
Lol, if only there was one of those in my backyard too...

Nice one! Sounds like one tough machine, you'll have heaps of fun running that!
