Sure their instruments of choice have changed, but their lyrics have always been the same, meaningful and inspiring. Fuck all this " we want old LP back" you people aren't fans of LP, only fans of nu metal.
I listen to a variety of sounds and even I shared some similar sentiments with the people who said "we want old LP back." Besides, even in the beginning they were more then just a nu metal band. Just because someone prefers the elements of a band that made them more interesting in the beginning, doesn't mean they aren't fans of LP, they just prefer that aspect of LP a lot more then others. Stop being a pretentious overprotective fan and learn to be open-minded by understanding the side that disagrees with the evolution for good reasons, just like how you expect people to be open-minded to LP's changes in music.

But what does irritates me the most is when those who say are "fans" call them sellouts, manufactured band, and how trash it is or how trash they are, and just being complete shitty a**holes. Or trying to demand them to going back to their 1st two albums when they've been vocal about not wanting to keep doing the same things. All they were doing was just make music that they love for themselves and putting there heart, soul, sweat, tears, exhaustion, and broken bones into it, lol. It's wasn't about the money and fame for them its about family, community, making music, art, passion, creativity, and the love that they have for all of their fans. They never claimed themselves as nu/metal they always thought of themselves as a wild card, they loved expermenting, and making music that has meaning and people can relate the message to wheather its on a personal level or whats going on in the world. Chester has even been open on how he loved different styles/genres of music. They have always been open and honest on what they were going to do so they wouldn't mislead anyone. They have NEVER been tied down to just ONE genre hell thats how the name "Hybrid" got created cause they didn't want to be just ONE thing and being limited. They ALWAYS wanted to grow and evolve with their music its part of growing up. They weren't angsty teens anymore. They got married and had kids and started writing about adult problems and things going on in the world. They are not like other bands. Never have they've always been unique. They do things that THEY want to do and not what others want them to be. The label tried doing that to them with their first 1st album and wanted them to keep doing the same thing as before, and thats not what they wanted. So, they broke out of that very quickly, the label backed off of them finally during Meteora and let them do things their own way by doing it independently with just a little bit of guidance from Rick Ruben. They do EVERYTHING that THEY WANTED to do. If anything, "Linkin Park" is its own genre. They were a very special different kind of band and did it by their own rules. Thats what I love about this band and the chemistry that they have. Yes they loss quite a bit of their old fans due to them always experimenting different styles. But, they also gained way more fans than the ones that they loss. But there are still a lot of us fans who've been riding along right beside them and loving the evolving of their music.
True but I think the will make a couple songs like they used to for old times sake. Just maybe 1 or 2. Perhaps not in their next album but one of them in the future.
And I would figure that a little kid with an Ariana Grande picture that wasn't even present for their previous sound would find it quite simplistic to take sides with the shit that sounds most like everything that middle school girls would be into.
The 200 people was for their summits that they did for their fans before the actual concert. They would do that 2 or 3x a year. It's bigger than your basic meet&greet. For the summits the fans gets to tour backstage and their dressing rooms, gets to play with the instruments on stage, the band comes out does a longer meet&greet than normal with the Q&A and Chester/Mike or Chester/Brad would perform them couple of their songs on acoustic guitar or keyboard and then take a big group photo.
Chesters facial expression is so genuine and he gives so much attention to the interviewer and his bandmates.
