In my opinion this is one of the best drummers of the modern era, in fact any era. He has perfect timing, a natural feel and fluidity and imaginative phrasing. He makes the drums talk. He has the musicality of Morrello with the lightening technique of Rich. Superb.
Incredible performance, From everyone!! Great interpretation also, kept the feel of the original (from Whiplash) but at the same time felt unique and different!
The drum solo was different, and many arrangements are more physically intensive than this. Also, there's a difference between somebody with hundreds of thousands of hours playing, and just thousands.
I'm not an expert to music or instruments so I have questions. Does the drummer play just like how Fletcher wanted in the movie? Is it as fast as what the movie shows? I just wanna know if the movie was just extreme and probably unrealistic, or the movie just made the drum part look impossible to play yet it can be done in real life.
Caravan is its own song bro lmao, besides, in the movie it was meant to sound like an improvisation, you can see bc in the movie fletcher had no idea what kinda fucking impromptu neiman was doing when he continued the song without instruction, it’s a completely realistic song to play, look up Ellis sheppards drum solo, but if you look behind the scenes, the actor who played neiman just hit random symbols on the drums to imitate the real drummer who played behind the track
@@blondeguyy4944 the actor can play drums, but not that song lol, i don't remember where but there are some tapes of him pretending to be playing the song
She's one of the best guitar players (and singer/songwriters) you'll likely ever hear in your life! Trust me. Look her up, Rosie Frater-Taylor. You're welcome!

What Fletcher was asking to play is a swing rhythm, but in a really fast tempo, basically such tempo isn't being used for real. Though some drummers can play it, the ones who put lots of effort into their own professional development. And for Fletcher this ability to play that kind of fast double-time swing was something like a proof if the drummer can put more and more into what he's doing. This was what he was talking about through the whole movie. BTW, there is a guy called Greyson Nekrutman, he's a freakin' living legend. Check out his overdub of Whiplash's "Caravan", IDK if it's somewhere on UA-cam, but it surely can be found on his Instagram.

Drummer holds sticks on the back end so not much fulcrum and some awesome technique with the fingers! They are long sticks too.
Drummer looked totally in control. How come Neeman looked like he was taking a particularly difficult shit when he played this in Whiplash?
The drum solo was different, and many arrangements are more physically intensive than this. Also, there's a difference between somebody with hundreds of thousands of hours playing, and just thousands.
I heard that wrong note at the beginning saxes run for the hills
