While underway in the Seventh Coast Guard District’s area of responsibility and in support of Joint Interagency Task Force-South, Bear conducted six counterdrug interdictions and seized a total of 8,558 pounds of cocaine worth an estimated $97 million. I loved serving aboard this ship in Main Prop. Probably the coldest I have ever been is when we had to move the ship up the pier to accommodate another returning cutter. Skeleton crew as we had just returned, and it was snowing sideways. Guess who got the unenviable position of moving the lines up while waiting for the ship to be winched forward?? This guy..... lol My ears felt like they were going to fall off. Fair winds and following seas!
