- The Milford Track is one of the Great Walks of New Zealand, located amidst mountains and temperate rain forest in Fiordland National Park in the southwest of the South Island. The 53.5 km (33.2 mi) hike starts at Glade Wharf (accessed by water taxi only) at the head of Lake Te Anau and finishes in Milford Sound at Sandfly Point, traversing rainforests, wetlands, and an alpine pass. It has the reputation as "the finest walk in the world" and offers unparalleled views of remote areas of Fiordland National Park.

Jesse, done the track twice - your photography is superb!
Thank you so much!
Jesse. I'm sure lots of people appreciate your effort & tenacity in exploring NZ's natural areas which have hardly been seen. This video is extraordinary. Nature at its best!!. Love ❤ you. Fantastic job!
🙏 thank you so much
New Zealand's most famous walk, the Milford Track has been thrilling hikers for more than 150 years. The alpine and fiord scenery is as perfect as ever.
Sure is!
Beautiful, thank you for showing off my gorgeous lands of Aotearoa NZ. Absolutely breath-taking views and walks/Tramps through, wonderful. ❤️
🤙
Oh my God!! Incredible! In-cre-di-ble!! Thank you so much guy for this video! 🙏🏼 It's absolutely magnificent 😍
🙏so happy that you enjoyed it!
@@JesseStLouis 👍🏼😊
"I didn't even know New Zealand had a queen, but I think her name is Jacinda Ardern."
I just about spit my drink, I haven't laughed so hard in ages. Thanks for the early morning humour.
Like all other commonwealth countries, our queen is Elizabeth.
🤣🙌🤙glad I could make you laugh
And now, six months later we have a King 👑 Charles III. 💖
Yeah, sure was hilarious 😂 😂
Now that had me giggling 🤭 😊
Loved your video, thank you. It brought back lots of memories of when I did the track. Cheers from Australia.
🙌🤙 Awesome, thanks
What stunning scenery and amazing video footage. I felt I was there with you, thank you showing us this fabulous and epic walk
Thanks for watching, Tim
This stirred up some of the emotions I had when I visited the main North and South islands in 2018. Very informative and excellent footage, thank you!
Thanks John
Thanks for the wonderful photography, this is the most informative video I've seen yet of the Milford Track.
I'm so glad that you enjoyed it
Thank you very much for the time and effort you put into these absolutely stunning and informative videos. Much grattitude for you and others like you!

🙌🤙
I really enjoyed this video. Thanks for all that you do. Subbed!
So glad you enjoyed it 🤙
Awesome scenery and a well presented video, inspiring to say the least. Well done Jesse I really enjoyed watching that presentation
Thanks Don
Absolutely fabulous, Jesse. Simply fantastic. How fortunate for you to catch a weather window like that. Excellent footage and choice of subjects to share. Alpine parrots, wow. I loved that waterfall you found, due to the change in trails you had to use. So many wonderful vistas and intimate vignettes. A great episode. Epic. Thanks for posting.
Thanks Jim, it was a special experience for sure.
Lol those alpine parrots are Kea, and the little buggers will rob you blind while looking you in the eye, still they are cute little rascals.
Gonna be using this video to sleep to. Such awesome beauty! Mahalo for sharing!
So glad that you enjoyed it!!
Very interesting. I've walked Milford twice in-season, but have often wondered about doing it off season. Good advice about the bridges staying up for a few weeks, I don't think I would try it without bridges. Some of those creeks get pretty gnarly in the rain.
Yes absolutely, great to do it without the crowds AND the bridges
Amazing videography with great info. You lived the best life Jesse.
Thanks Ethan!!
Nice view. I love it
🤗
Just Majestic
Absolutely
Beautiful video Jesse! I only explored the North Island thoroughly, but I enjoyed the cinematic montages. Keep on good sir! Love your content, from one fellow adventurer to another,
Thanks man🤙
Amazing video, Thank you so much.
Thanks!! Are you planning on doing this walk?
@@JesseStLouis Definitely, but I would like to wait for this pandemic issue to pass, is one of my priorities, with Iceland.
@@matusmarcos nice!
Hermoso lugar 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
🙌🤙
Great Job Jesse !!!!!
Thanks Chris!🙌🤙
Magnificent!
it really is! Thanks SOL!!
Thank you for sharing. Can't go.but enjoying it. From India.
Thanks, I hope to return to India again someday
I was there in October last year. Not the track but the road to Milford sound. I haven seen anywhere as much as yourself but It's the most beautiful scenery I have seen anywhere.
It's a wonderful place and one of my favorites in NZ
Nice one man loving it, if you liked that you should go diving around that area. The coastline around there is like no other.
Sounds amazing!! We need to team up soon!!
I think the personal locator beacon is just an off season thing. When I did the track in the summer season there was definitely no such requirement. the track is never crowded even in summer because it is limited by the number of people that can stay at the accommodation on the track and also because the track is one way only. Peak is peak for a reason - I think you were really lucky to get such good weather. And also when it is dry the sandflies are not so bad lol! Beautiful footage. Thanks for beautiful footage, takes me right back.
I luv your spirit Jessie 💖💖💖
Thanks so much
@@JesseStLouis 💖💖💖
This place is beyond beautiful!!! By the way, The queen's birthday that you mentioned was for Queen Elizabeth not Jacinta Ardern. lol
I know, I was just being silly
@@JesseStLouis 🤣🤣
Hell yeah bro.
The first 6 min of the video remind me of the movie The 100
Hmmm, is that good or bad, lol. Never saw that one
@@JesseStLouis it a good shows on Netflix lmk if U wanna know what the show is about?
I walked it for free and completely alone. In winter, went in over the Dore pass from the Milford road. Carried an inflatable boat to get from the end of the track. Was nice.
Sounds epic
@@JesseStLouis I remember the Dore Pass was quite icy, glad I had crampons. Also remember the big trout in the Arthur river. I saw no one else on the track, it was at least 35 years ago.
@@ALLROY240 sounds like paradise
Im a kiwi and will probably never get to do this walk so thanks for sharing your vid.👍👍
Happy that you enjoyed it!
Just subscribed. What a brilliant portrayal of the Milford Track. I’ve got a video on my other channel. I worked as a guide for a season out there, have been lucky enough to walk it 13 times.
Wow! Lucky indeed. I love Fiordland, such a pristine wilderness
Beautiful!! But....did you have a personal transponder on you in case of an emergency? It looks like your on this hike by yourself! Hope so!!
Gorgeous landscape!! ❤❤❤❤❤😊🫠💥💫💥💫👍
Yes it is requires in order to book transport to the trailhead
Hey Jesse how did you get from the Tule River near Springville Ca all the way to Milford trek?
PS I did too!! Life is good. 😊
one step at a time, lol
👏👏👏👏👏
🙌🤙🤗
Hello Jesse 😁 .
It's me erwen we meet in the house where you stay in Queenstown 😁 Remember the 2 guys that work in Dairy farm 😅😁 . Nice to meet you in person Jesse 😁
This video is so cool I love it . I really hope I can also experience this hike the Milford sound track . Keep safe always Jesse 😁 looking forward for more videos in hopefully we will meet again some where in the mountains or in Queenstown 😁 thanks .
Yes thanks Erwen!! So nice to meet you too!
💙💙💙💙
How were the sand flies off season? Do they drop off at all? I'd be happy to deal with some snow and even a non-bridged river crossing if it meant no sand flies. When we did it back in 2019 I reckon we itched for about a month afterwards, lol.
There were some but not super bad
U knowing on spring they build up bridges again on september or early oktober?
Climb mackinnon pass was it hard?? I have my upcomming walk early april as solo....been quite anxious about it :)
Not really, it's pretty gradual and we were going slow to enjoy the keas
@@JesseStLouis aah thank you very much, ease my mind a bit :)
🙌🤙
Jesse im not telling what to do but a 2 person and 4 person tent review would drive
lmao. 11:10 "I didn't know New Zealand had a queen but I think her name is Jacinda Ardern" omg I cracked up laughing lol. NZ is a British colony, the queen is Queen Elizabeth haha XD
🤣🙌🤙I was just being silly
@@JesseStLouis cute lol
The first hut may have 40 beds but the next two have 48.
No no no she's not the queen, she's the troll, under the bridge.
THIS place was so beautiful and fun! ua-cam.com/video/rzYQj7t37VI/v-deo.html
So did you agree that this is the finest walk in the world?
🤔I'm still not sure🤣
Jacinda Ardern was the Prime Minister mate. The symbolic head is King Charles.
nah yeah, i was just being silly 🤣🤙
Wetlands and floodplain forests so important against flooding!
Sadly to many people in europe and all over where european going are water canals and used for farming most destroyed.
This land holding water back amasses.
Looking brazil and south asia africa now.... sadly all needed for consumption and overproduced foods.
Beautiful scenery. Shame it is just one way. No chance of doing a section of it.
You can do a section of it. When we went we met a couple who paddled over to Sandfly Point and hiked to the saddle and back in one day
@@JesseStLouis oh ok. Thanks. I'll do some research then.
turn off music please, I can recreate it 10 min but sounds of nature, I can not
