Hi Ben. If you allow me to give some advice... at 3:17. Press the head of the sander against the wall before you start it. The soft start of the Festool is one of the biggest advantages over the competitors. First press it on the wall, then switch it "ON" and immediately lead it to the sides. This way you will avoid gauges on the wall/ceiling. Another great video. Greetings from Bulgaria. :)
Great content. I have the Mirka sander. I love the dustless sanding. Been able too mix the Mirka mesh with the festool 400 and hand vaccum sander for a complete dustless sanding. Thanks
A buddy of mine has the Mirka system, I sanded a skimmed out textured ceiling with it today, works great! I wouldn't mind taking a planex 2.0 for a spin. I bet the light is awesome
I just bought this (you contributed partially to deciding on it) and even though I've seen already a few of your videos on the Planex 2 subject, this one I've just watched. I just noticed something that is not the end of the world but seems to be a design problem. At 3:45 and 4:26 (that's when I could see it better because the light is not shining in the camera) when the dust extractor knocks to clean the filter, you can see a shroud of dust falling from the head. I think that for a split second suction is interrupted by the knock. I know that the benefit of having the filter cleaned constantly and prolong the duration of proper suction is clearly compensating for leaking a bit of dust but I am surprised they couldn't find a solution to have uninterrupted suction and the cleaning filter feature.
Honestly I'd presume the best option for them to design it differently would have to be to use two different "chambers" in parallel and only clean one at a time
OMG, Can I hire you to be our drywaller? It's a skill set that needs to be appreciated and you are KILLING it! I need a drywaller that can get walls "painter ready" and you GET IT!
They should have a shroud that extends a few inches out and when you turn down the suction it diverts excess airflow through the shroud instead I want to buy one but I'm afraid it's hard to justify if I have to choose between maximum dust collection or best sanding quality...
I don’t know about Planex2 but for 1 and EZ there’s a different shallower pad to use with the interface pad that keeps the paper in plane with the brushes and keeps dust extraction working
Try the Granat soft. It’s like an interface pad mixed with the paper and it’s awesome. When I got my Planex 2 the first thing I did was look for an interface pad for the same reason you modified one. After seeing there’s not one I tried that paper and it’s 80% as good and still dust free
We’ve tried the mirka for heavy sanding and texture removal, it sucks. The festool smokes it in that regard. For ultra finish sanding the mirka may have a tiny (and I mean tiny) advantage.
@@FixthisCD Granted I’ve only had the new festool for about two weeks, I’ve logged some serious hours with this thing. We do have the Mirka as well(it’s a year old). With the light and the plug and play ct dust extractor I honestly give the overall advantage to the festool at this point
i'd love to have one as I'm doing some skim coating of walls in our house, but the cost is prohibitive for the 4 rooms I have to do, and two of those are bathrooms. I could use the vacuum for other things though.... I don't thing my "accountant" (wife) would allow me to get it though. :)
@@APYanke I think you should go to Festoolusa.com and check out the model number on the vacuum and the planex 2 then you'll know I'm right. Have a nice day
how much is the cost of Festool planex 2, the set up. Vacuum cleaner + the planex itself. In my country this set up cost around 3.5k USD, which is around 3 Average wages, i wonder how much does it cost in usa or canada.
I can’t speak for him. I use mine between every coat and final. I have switched to a Mirka however. It is way less aggressive. Much better sander for fine sanding. Not for removing popcorn or heavy stippling on plaster finishes.

I got the Mirka and I have to say, it's amazing.

I use a similar model in work and they are great no dust and save so much time and effort
I've read that the level of suction matters for the swirl level. Sometimes backing off on the suction is better.
You got it free! Damn. Lucky you. I dropped $3500 for this setup a month ago.

Try using 320 grid for the finish sanding... with that and a light sand after by hand I have awesome results so far .
Nice review! Thanks
Thats funny hanging in the clubs. I use to do drywall. Sometimes when i w ass in the spackle dust was excuse

The evolutionary changes that dry-walling is going through.
Took way too long.. sad really..
I am so getting this!

Planex 2 is my best co-worker ever💪🏽but I use the net and not the sandpaper
I just got the planex easy only used it ten minutes so far but amazing dust control
Hey tell them to send me one too (for review purposes of course)
2:33 “I’m done talking. Let’s do this”
Actually starts at 3:10 haha
Amazing results!!!
I really want to hear your take on the Mirka
Mirka is the best, hands down.
@@bobseguin2195 lol always one of you on here.

@@ryane6719 Heard somewhat the same but with more credit for the Mirka on it's finish. I agree I wouldn't use the Mirka for texture removal

Feathering the like button is easy, mud though...not so much.

Radius 360 is good
Those holes in the sand paper actually cause scratches in your finished work
What your thoughts on a ceiling. I work on ceilings 90to 96 inches off the floor.
is it still dustless even with lower grit sandpaper, like 130 grit
What is the model of the sander and vacuum? please.
Vac is a Festol CT 36 AC and the sander is Festool Planex 2.0
The Sander model number is Planex LHS 2 225 and the vacuum model number is CT 36 E AC HEPA CLeantec I know this cuz I bought it also.

In canada, sander is $1800.00 dust extractor $1200,00....
Isn’t festoon like some of the top notch tools content creators that live in New Zealand I watch use nothing but festool and makita
My boss makes us use makita and I'm not a fan
I like mine.
I don’t know man, people who don’t work from home have to be on time. It’s part of having a job
So you used this between coats.
Do you use it for final sanding the skim coat too?
Asking for a friend.

Thank you for the nice video!
What model of vacuum cleaner are you using?
He should be using the CT 36 from festool.
I like it nice
Typically something for a carpenter, to love festool.
Worth the $2200?
I nearly always watch you at 1.5x or 1.75x so I have to keep telling myself, DON'T GO THIS FAST IN REAL LIFE! 😂

Yo CUZ!!!
@@renaissanceman8581 😁
Wow its also really low DB?
Unbelievably quiet, we needed ear plugs for the old model. This new one it’s optional according to a decibel meter
Someone explain to me the purpose of the sander if you just have to skim coat after 🤷🏻♂️
You are supposed to sand between every coat. It knocks off any “bloggers” or edges from the previous coat.
All done lickety-split...now you have time for skateboarding!
Can you sand down texture with it?
I always suspected you might be a weekend rockstar with that white nose of yours.
Do you have a Facebook account
Ill stick to plastic curtains and a wet sponge.. just saying. You would have to be pulling down big bucks daily for that tool.
I've said it before, I'll say it again - Festool doesn' t make every tool, but every tool they make is the best.
As generalities go, that’s absolutely not true
Actually, Festool doesn't make every tool, but every tool they make is the most expensive
Festool tools are overpriced crap. Lol
so funny bro ,,,night club
Geez. Stop talking and get to it.
