    Vegan Brownies
    Makes 9-12 brownies
    INGREDIENTS
    200 grams white sugar
    200 grams demerara sugar
    100 grams cocoa powder
    120 milliliters oil
    ½ teaspoon baking powder
    2 teaspoons vanilla sugar
    1 teaspoon salt
    200 grams flour
    200 milliliters water
    150 grams walnuts
    250 grams chocolate shards, divided
    PREPARATION
    Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
In a large bowl, add the white and demerara sugar, cocoa powder, oil, baking powder, and salt, and stir to combine.
Add the flour and water and mix thoroughly until smooth.
Stir in the walnuts and 150 grams of chocolate shards.
Pour into a 9-inch (23cm) parchment paper-lined square baking tin.
Top with the remaining chocolate shards.
    Bake for 12-15 minutes.

@@SinnohGreen well, if you're not sure, why don't you read the ingredient list on the back? A lot of products are more expensive just because they have a vegan stamp, sometimes actual vegan products without a stamp are cheaper.

BorderlineBae because I’m more considerate than that and I’m not going to feed a vegan friend with anything that I can’t say with 100% certainty is vegan. If all the ingredients sound like they should be vegan yet it says vegetarian and it’s in the same area of the shop as other vegan products then it makes me question it.

Since some people do not understand this simple fact, allow me to elaborate:
Not all chocolate contains milk. Specific types of chocolate, such as milk chocolate (obviously), do in fact contain milk. However, other types, such as dark chocolate, typically do not incorporate milk into the product at all. Chocolate is ultimately derived from the cocoa bean, which comes from a tree. Therefore, chocolate can most certainly be vegan.

    • @believeit4359
      @believeit4359 6 років тому +7

totally correct. and if you don't like the bitterness of dark chocolate, just know that chocolate that is 56% dark (56% would be semi-sweet chocolate, so it tastes very close to milk chocolate) and darker contains no dairy. (it can depend on the brand though so watch out)

People are like "what the heck?!? What makes normal brownies NOT vegan?? It's not like I put STEAK in MY brownies!!1!"
Vegan= not consuming ANY animal products. This includes dairy, (things like milk and butter) eggs, meat, etc. Most brownie recipes have eggs and some type of dairy, such as milk or butter in them. That's why they're NOT vegan. Oh my gosh, stop being so ignorant.

    • @guitar1994

A significant amount of oil is used to substitute for the eggs. Most "normal" brownie recipes would not have that much. This recipe will make gooey brownies if you are into that. Also, you will have to cook these way longer than what the video states as mentioned in my first comment.

@@Lala47362 Hey!!! That is due to the very high quantity of sugar in this recipe. I think it would be very reasonable, probably tastier and smarter to reduce the quantity by 1/3 or by half. Any form of baked recipe with lots of sugar will acquire a very gooey and moist texture.
