    Wow that brings back memories. That’s what we had ask kids to mow with for years. And we had just under an acre of grass. I hated that thing. 😂 and still do😂😂😂😂

      What’s “old” always becomes new again! I only mow the terraces with it. Small area. Light weight. Mows low. Quiet. It’s quite enjoyable. Thanks for watching as always!

      It’s all I could do right now! I haven’t really started taking off yet. I had go for it and get my fix. I could smell cut grass again. There was something nice about the sound of a weed eater / blower again as well. It was good for the soul. Thanks for watching!

    Good idea with the rear reel mower. I did mine with pvc pipe on my small reel mower. i havent tried yet due to rainy days.
    I just wonder if it stripes with your steel roller on short cut grass.

      Short grass is always tough. Ideally more weight would be needed. But, if you reel mow the same patterns consistently and frequently, you’ll eventually burn in some stripes! Hope that helps and thanks for watching!

      🤗 It is a small area to reel mow. It’s short and sweet. Thanks for watching!

      Thanks! And hopefully I didn’t kill what I had with a 1050 lbs of sand! 😆 I figure these are the tough sprouts that fended through a late summer Army Worm attack. I’ll feel better when it sprouts through. Warmer day tomorrow with rain will help. Thanks for tuning in!

    How did you get it to cut at 3/8"? I thought that the lowest setting was 0.5"

      I'll need to make a video this Spring on how I take it down to the height. Thanks for watching and commenting.

      That’s the hope! We need some warmer days consecutively to really get it going. Thanks for watching!

    Do you reel mow the terraces? And then just mow tall on the larger parts of the lawn?

    • @theSuburbiaDad
      @theSuburbiaDad  2 роки тому +1

      Exactly! I have too much tree debris to reel mow. Mr. 52 won’t fit onto the terrace and Mr. 30 cannot easily go on the lower one. It does afford me the opportunity to play with short turf; which is fun! I am learning. Wait until you see what I did in the next video. I put 1050 lbs of sand on it to level it! 😂 Probably killed it. We will see. Thanks for watching!

      @@theSuburbiaDad great points. Yea you kinda get to truly enjoy all three kinds of mowing. Reel, regular push mower with Mr 30, and then of course the luxury of Mr 52

      You nailed it! The reel is so easy to move and I can mow the terraces anytime due to how quiet it is. It’s fun. You mowing yet?

      @@theSuburbiaDad I mowed last week we had a warm spell. Has really got cold again so it doesn’t really need mowed yet. I did it just to try to stimulate some growth. I haven’t got the big spring flush of growth yet. Been cold in Ohio.

      @@theSuburbiaDad Just picked up this reel mower from my neighbor. We have Bermuda and I'm getting ready to scalp this week. I did a "prescalp" with my Ryboi rotary to get it as low as I can before scalping with the Earthwise. I know I'll have to bag up the clippings, but do you think the grass catcher is necessary, or can I go back over it with the rotary to pick up the clippings?

    • @theSuburbiaDad
      @theSuburbiaDad  Рік тому

      @@kevinisnguyen probably just blow it away, but I’d assume you could vacuum up with rotary bagger combo. Let me know what you do.

      @@theSuburbiaDad I ended up trying to blow it off, but don't think I did a very good job. There aren't clumps of clippings sitting on the lawn or anything, but I'm just not sure if I did it right lol. Ended up putting down Barricade pre emergent and watering it in yesterday. Might go back over it with the rotary tomorrow to try and vaccuum up whatever I can. My lawn was so uneven that it was hard to scalp with the earthwise. It kept getting caught up.
