I just finished watching your video, and it reminded me of my neighbor Lydia who just passed away last week. She was Hispanic, and I'm white, but she introduced me to nopales, and we even went out in the country and picked some in the wild, brought them home and cleaned and cooked them. We had so much fun that day, and you brought it all back. Thank you so much and God's blessings to you.
We were just introduced to nopales and because of your video we can now be confident in its preparation. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your knowledge.
Thank you for this lesson! My mama requested "nopalitos" for dinner tonight. I bought a package from the 99 Cent Story and had no idea how to cook them. Now I do! Gracias!!
Thank You Mama ❤️ Your cooking style is the best on UA-cam. The instructions were presented very easy to follow! Love your finished dinner plate. I will be trying it with retried beans and rice and a side of poultry!
Thank you so much for a wonderful, instructional video: I really like how you go through things step-by-step; it reminds me of when my grandmother was teaching me how to cook! I have always wanted to try nopales, and now I know how to make them the right way! Thank you again!
I haven't even gotten to the end of your video, but I have to tell you - - I love how you teach cooking! You make me wish my mother had taught me like that. My husband and I went to a "world market" here in Atlanta today - there are quite a few of them here. And as always, I picked up little bits of foods I have never tried before. I have always wanted to try cactus! So I bought ONE leaf of nopales. hahaha. And I pulled up your video to find out what to do with it! : ] You peel and cook your vegetables a lot like I do. You made me feel so comfortable about preparing and cooking my nopales - thanks to you, Bob and I will experience a new food tomorrow! Eres maravillosa......btw, I am not Hispanic.......(Polish! So, forgive me.) : ]
+cat yeah Thank you for watching my video! I to like to try new things I hope you enjoyed your nopal experience. I think it is an acquired taste,so keep trying! Gracias!
My pop used to make cactus for me quite a bit growing up, he would put it in 'steak a la Chicana' and I loved it. Haven't had any for over 20 years now but can't wait to try cooking with it now that I know how. Thanks for the great video, showed me everything I need to know.
Thank you for this tutorial. A friend is on her way over now and she is bringing cactus with her. I didn't know what to do with it (neither does she - lol). But now I know. Thank you for posting this :)
Thank you so much for sharing this with us, Eloise! Ive seen these in the store for years and been curious. I had them at a friend’s house in Mexico recently and loved them. I’m not afraid any more!
I have been wanting to know how to clean and cook. A new acquaintance said to try. she gave me limited instructions on preparation. Your instructions were extremely helpful!! Thank you!!!
Thank you so much for sharing you recipe Tia Lozano. I love your trick of scraping in a plastic bag. Brilliant. My dad always served with with the slime. I think because he also liked okra slime. LOL. I loved the candies when I was a kid. Haven’t seen them though. Now that I know to rinse them well I can’t wait to bring them back into my diet. Muchas gracias, deseandote todos lo mejor 🌹
I tried nopales for the first time in a Mexican restaurant yesterday and they were delicious! I couldn't wait to learn to make them myself, thank you for your video. It is very informative and easy to follow; they look delicious!
I remember my mother sending me out to harvest the new growth pads from a patch that grew in our alleyway. She would clean, cook, and serve them. I cried at dinner time so I would not have to eat them. Ugggh. Then one day about a year ago I ate them at a Mexican restaurant thinking they were green beans. Ha! I ate them and loved them! Thank you posting a video on how to cook them. I cant wait to cook nopales. I wish she could see me eating them now! I'll cook some for my grandkids. I'm "SURE" they will love them! Ha! And the circle of life goes on.
This looks so appetizing! And I'm lucky to have nopales growing in my backyard. I have happy memories of family gathering around the kitchen table to clean nopales together. Thanks for your video!

Hey this is neat! That dinner you prepared looks amazing delicious! Lol you just got another subscriber xD I've seen cactus in the grocery stores, but never knew what to do with them. I'll have to look up their nutrition information, but, if they really are good for diabetes, I'll have to get some and practice making them for my mom. :) my folks have had nopales before. They said that it sorta reminds them of okra. Probably because of the sliminess, lol. Well, thank you for making this video and being so thorough in your instructions. You are an awesome teacher!
Thanks for the tutorial, I’m still practicing. My grandma used to make this but I think she sauté them. She had diabetes. I think it helped. Rip Rosita.
Great Video Eloise! I usually make my Nopales with Pork and Red Chile the way my Mom use to. I also like it cooked on a grill then in a tortilla with salt. I never had it with eggs, but my parents have. Thanks for sharing! There's a lot of people that don't know how to cook or what to make with them. Subscribing to your video's, I am sure I can learn some things. ;)

Every Latino has those ceramic bowls 🤣🙌🏽thank you for the tutorial I want to learn how to cook this for my family!
if you soak them in lime juice for a few hours before cutting--they aren't slimy... and it gives them a great flavor... !
Or you can boil them with corn husk, that will also take the slim away.
Interesting info about the lemon juice!!!
My dad do that all the time.
I also soak my in apple cider vinegar and I do not boil them just cut them and sautee in avocado oil .
What does cactus taste like?
