I was able to test this controller in a store with my apple usb3 adapter and putting it in low power mode. Pretty cool. This was a while back. I forgot what the velocity sensitivity for piano was like.
I bought a cheap USB-C to USB-B Cable on Amazon and it works perfectly for my MPK261 attached to my 16" M1 Pro Macbook, so I guess it also works for the MPK249. No need for a Hub or anything.
Make sure your usb hub has external power cause if u plug it in straight in won’t supply power it’s just be in low mode but if u have external power it should light up the whole keyboard and it will automatically connect
Hi, can you make a video with Akai Mpk249 to show how you make a music (4 to 6 Tracks) live performance with Logic? I make shorts on UA-cam and wish to perform live with mpk249 and logic and record it live for my Shorts. Tnx a lot Alex

Look up "MPK61 SampleKings" on UA-cam. Although it's for the earlier model (MPK61 instead of the MPK261) I believe most of the info carries over to the 261. It's not a class but it's a pretty in depth video.
mpk249 not workin and the part where about the midi. it only shows all, logic virtual in. no port a or other optins. I'm getting aggravated how did this happen and not before
No one will and no one can tell. I read somewhere that the the arp and note repeat comes from the midi itself and connot be used when connected to a daw. If you solved it, i loved to know either but im working today on it
I have the Mpk 261, I set the keyboard for external clock, I am using reaper I set reaper to send Clock out to channel a, you can then press the arpeggiator button on the keyboard, and choose arpeggiator options from the keyboard menus. reaper will send clock when you play or record. Arpeggiator only works when playing or recording, and reaper sends the clock out
Bro I'm very frustrated but your video gives me hope. I've bought a MacBook Pro M1 Pro and since then, it's not recognizing my AKAI MPK249. I bought a USB B to USB C dongle/adapter and it didn't work. So I went to the Apple Store today and bought a different dongle/adapter from Apple itself and it's still not working. Am I forced to sell my keyboard and get one from an other company? I don't hope so. Thanks in advance!
I’m not sure all the reasons why Akai hasn’t fixed this yet, but here’s how I got it to work on my M1 Max Mac. I got a USB C 4 port hub from Anker - one of the ports is a Power Delivery port, meaning you can pass power through a wall plug into that USB C port, and then it will power the dock and also allow your laptop to charge. Once I had power added (I’m using a 100W GaN plug and I connected it with a USB C to USB C cord that can support 100W charging, but my guess is you don’t have to go that high with powering your hub), my mac magically understood that I had an MPK249 plugged in. My tip to you - get a usb hub that takes power (either a regular AC adapter power or through a PD port), and it’ll get recognized by your Mac!

Hi I have MPK49 got it used for £150 at thrift shop last year, there is a used MPK249 for £270 and they will only give Me £70 for the MPK49. Should I do it, as the only difference is the pads as far as I can see.

The thing is that i am mostly interessiert in doing live Looping Performances but as a complete beginnen im not Sure how this would work so my question is what do i nee for live Looping Performances. Can i do it with the Software i get with the mpk249 and a speaker connected to my Laptop or the mpk249 because someone toll me that this probably wouldnt work. If it would work i would really appreciate a tutorial for live Looping Performances and thank you for every answwers.:)
You have to set it up for each project you create. However if you want to make it apply to every project, you can create it once and turn it into a template that you can use for every new project
Thanks for the tutorial. I have a question is there a way to customize the pad lights for example to turn all pad lights off or turn all pad lights red? I don't like the factory colors of the pad lights assigned to Logic pro X. When I do change them after saving they return back to ugly factory settings. Thanks.
No worries! Yes there is a way, when you turn on your Akai, change the preset to 25-30. These are the user customisable presets. From there, click edit and you can select each pad and change their colours. Click preset once you're done and click one of the arrows, it'll come up with a "Store Program" screen where you can save the preset. Hope this helps!
It doesn’t show me my midi in setup, it’s connected, when I play it maps my steps, but it has no sound even though everything headphones and audio interface is connected. Can you help me please?
I'm trying to follow with an Akai MPK261. I'm running MacOS Ventura 13.0.1 on a 2.4 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9 MacBook Pro. In section 4 / Transport Controls, when I click on MIDI Sync Project Settings and try to change the destination from "Off" to Port A, I don't have that as an option. Anyone else have this issue or successfully figure it out with the 61?
I really thought this was going to work :(. It doesnt work for me, can't get any sound from my MPK. Very sad, I guess its bye bye and have to sell it if it can't connect anymore to M1 Pro macbook

I don’t have these issues and I use a Anker 7+3 port powered USB hub. My MPK249 works flawlessly on my Mac Mini and 14” Macbook Pro.

Does anyone know of any actual classes for the MPK 249? I find these videos helpful, but I'd really love an in depth class.

You need an audio interface
When I pushed scan to add my mpk249 it won’t scan.
I tried doing it manually and clicked scan but wouldn’t work . Do you know how to fix it

Are you using a DAW? You need that to make this work

yes there's no port a option for me either!!! did you find a solution? it's been driving me crazy for months and I haven't been able to use it
