Races 3 & 4 are out now: ua-cam.com/video/2oOIoNk5v-M/v-deo.html ! Huge thank you to everyone involved in this project! It's been a long journey and we've reached a very exciting milestone! It would mean the world to me if you could share the video with any others that you think would be interested. :-)
It was a pleasure to have my small part in this! What a monumental technical achievement and impressive production quality! This is easily the best video of a speedrunning competition and I sincerely hope the format gets picked up for a major event. You deserve to go big!
Seeing SMB1 players in a live tournament like this with the high production quality is so cool! I would love to see more of this. I've been wanting to see live tournaments for Mario games like this so it's cool to see it actually happen.
This was well worth the wait. It’s amazing seeing how far you’ve been able to take this project and it’s been great being along for the ride. Runner descriptions were a fun addition aswell
I remember reading some of your earliest posts as you pulled the top hundred speedrun recordings and started building the tool to put runners in the same game world. Every time I see you post a new video I just get giddy to see what new progress you've made. You and everyone on the project have done something incredible here and I'm so happy to get to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Keep it up!
The stuff made for this is far beyond incredible, I'm definitely looking forward to the future of this (and SMB speedrunning) because it's wowed me many times, and it'll wow me again. Loving this series of events, can't wait to see Race 5 & 6 soon :]
Missed to opportunity to play SM64 file select theme during the voice of bismuth segments :P Insane production quality though, big congratulations on that.
oh my god this was such an impressive presentation of this event! The overlays, the minimap down the bottom, the commentary, and to top it all of Bismuth with the analysis/ game facts. Im seriously blown away. So cool, thank you so much.
This was great! *LOVE* the tech FlibidyDibiby! And the layout and management of the graphics and tournament in general was great! (Bismuth on live speed-tech explanation was also smooth!) 🙂
This production quality is amazing, it's so satisfying seeing this all come together after being along for the ride. The future of speedrunning is looking brighter than ever!
DAMN just pulling Bismuth out of a hat with his own UI and Howard the Alien theme song. Extreme power play. Hoping by the finale you'll cut to Pannenkoek demonstrating a live BLJ on his livingroom staircase, just for the production value.
Wow, hats off to everyone in this. I know this was not easy to do and it really puts everything you would hope to see about speedrun competition organization and production into one super polished product. And the runners are great too!
This video was amazing. The format of the videowas a visual feast and the replays and technical explanations added to the hype as well. Having a quick "How did they do that?!" explainer in plain English was extremely helpful alongside the runs. Can't wait to see who claims the grand prize of a byte. And yes, that is a very clever prize amount. 😉
That was very impressive! Excellent production quality and broadcasting. This makes me wonder if this tech (and event) will make it to GDQ next year? This surely has the capability to be there for the world to see.
This was awesome to watch, I appreciate the effort! I think it was a bit unclear how much of this tech was present live and how much of it was edited in post. For example did the audience see the combined view and the map at the bottom of the screen?
Yes the combined view and minimap were visible live. About 30 seconds in during the intro you can see the TV we had in the middle showing the live feed. There was also another TV in the room showing the same thing

holy shit the god himself!!!!

Easily one of the most important voices in the speed running community what a treat!

Thanks!
This is the coolest thing I've ever watched.
God I love Bismuth's voice, so glad that he's the Speedrun explainer guy. I could listen to him explain things all day
It's nice seeing how big of a gap 21 frames is entering 1-2
Holy crap the production quality is phenomenal even for an edited recap! WE WANT MORE!
This was well worth the wait. It’s amazing seeing how far you’ve been able to take this project and it’s been great being along for the ride. Runner descriptions were a fun addition aswell

As someone who doesn’t watch SMB speedruns, the production alone on this makes it cool af
This is quality stuff. I wish all speedrun races could be displayed like this (as opposed to split screen). Well done!
Love this
I hope this goes viral, something of such high production quality deserves that level of attention to it
I've been hoping to see this exact production of a speedrunning competition for years, thank you so much and i hope to see more!
This is freaking amazing and really is the who's who of SMB Speed Racing! Awesome production can't wait to see more of this!
Future is now
Absolutely amazing. I love the player bios, Bismuth explaining the tricks, and of course the race itself.
Absolutely incredible! This was a lot of fun!
Speedrunning races like this are definitely the future. Can't wait to see more! Well done to all those involved!

Holy cow this was a fun watch. We need more stuff like this! Thanks so much for making this video.
What a masterpiece! And the thing you were all there together without any sneezing safety officers makes it even more special
props to you, this is crazy, the first live smb1 tourney, you got my respect
such an awesome event, honestly the dream for a lot of us runners! glad to see it work out perfectly and hope to see it still go up from here :)
It's such a cool video! Seeing everyone playing at the same time on the same monitor is so cool!
This was surprisingly exciting
DAMN just pulling Bismuth out of a hat with his own UI and Howard the Alien theme song. Extreme power play. Hoping by the finale you'll cut to Pannenkoek demonstrating a live BLJ on his livingroom staircase, just for the production value.
We can only hope..
The production quality is insane!
This is all I hoped for and even more! What an amazing finish at the end. As always, thank you Flibidy!
Fantastic event and incredibly entertaining!

What CRT are they playing with?
A mish-mash of 13 inch consumer grade CRTs that I could track down in time. I only have two 14 inch PVMs and well, kinda hard to get a hold of!
LUKITU...... HE WAS NOT INNOCENT.
=)
Hoping Nintendo does not Frick this up.
