OH! Thank you for adding English subtitles. I know it takes much work and time and few people will go the distance! MANY folk will be and are highly appreciative! Thank you.
It's great, the first film adaptation of the novel Dostoevsky died in 1881 the film was shot 50 years later, he could have lived to see the film in person, if not for his illness😣😭 Hello from Russia
It is a matter of personal preference, but my favourite film music is by Norbert Schultze for the 1941 film Ich Klage An. He also wrote the music for the song Lili Marlene. I hope my spelling is up to muster.
Interesting that the production was named ``the Murder Of Dmitri Karamasov'' instead of ``the Brothers Karamazov.'' I always wondered why Dostoyevski called it that, when the other brother is a minor character.
@@quickchris10 It is not the Murder of Dmitri Karamasov, it is Murder Dmitri Karamazoff, and Alesha Karamazoff is not a minor character. For Dostoevsky he was the main character.
oldtimecoolness, you have posted wonderful movies. I can only watch so much of them without knowing what's going on. This is subbed in Spanish - an improvement! Maybe it could be possible to add English subs. I know it's VERY time consuming. Thank you for posting these great movies!
this is what the brothers Karamazov was all about,].One of the brothers killing the servant? Boy in the elaborate 1958 american remake ,they made it more complex and quicker.this version was some what slow.I Wonder how were they able to move that heavy bulky camera around when showing Stein and Kortner dancing? That was an advance technique for sound cinema photography
@@jaqatlantic thank you! I have started watching already, despite lots to do on a Saturday morning. I am a big Kortner fan. Such a shame did not get the attention he deserved in America. B noirs like Somewhere in the Night , where his part was interesting and he was superb, and The Brasher Doubloon, based on a Sam Spade story. Doubloon also has Nancy Guild, the love interest in Somewhere. Here in Brothers K we have another European star who fared only middlingly well in Hollywood, Anna Sten.

Hello from Russia
He had been 110 years old in 1931.
What is better, this or the 1958 English version?
@@Nirsterkur the Russian version of 1968 is better, and "Idiot" is 1958

Bernard Herrmann considered Karol Rathaus' score for "The Brothers Karamazov" as one of the greatest film scores of all time.

I miss Aliocha in this movie...for me his message it's better than Ivan's one.
Yea that’s so weird. Maybe Europe had become too secular.
thank you and thank you for the English subtitles
59:00 Incredible editing for that time! Brilliant!
Lol I know right. The only reason I can tell this is based off the novel is because of the names of the characters being spoken.
Tks.
Formidable Dostoiévski!
Desde Brasil.
Thanks. There should actually be optional English captions on this. If they don't seem to be working, please try a different browser.
Works on Opera.
Why would they make this without Alyosha lol
superb!
thank u
What a great promise Ana Sten was in those years. Hollywood and Selznick destroyed her.
