So happy for you Larry. So amazing that you quoted your goal in high school to own a 1999 Bayside Blue Nissan Skyline R34 GTR. The fact that they did not print your quote makes it even better that you worked so hard to accomplish this and achieve your dream. I can’t wait to see it someday in California. Great video!
Thank you so much for your support
Congrats Larry you truly deserve it just like Doug deserves his Carrera gt the 2 people in the world that deserve everything
I appreciate it bud, I'm a big fan of Doug, love his videos.
Totally agreed
@@LarryChenPhoto hey Larry..i used to own a Datsun 280Z with a triple Mikuni setup. I was friends with Z Car Garage Rob before he moved to CA. Anyway, love your channel (especially the Datsun/Nissan content) and have for a few years!!! Congrats on the GT-R! Im sure youll enjoy it and keep us posted! Peace n chickengrease ✌
My thoughts exactly.
@@shawarmaman907 yes one of his latest videos he bought one
Congrats 🎉, Larry living all our childhood dreams, love to see it
Amazing Larry.
Hardest working guy in the game.
I loved when you got your award at that SEMA gala while you were still in your work clothes.
One of these is probably not going to be obtainable in my life time.
I’m super happy to see you chase your dream and achieve it.
Congrats Larry. Your videos and photos tell a much broader story. Compassion for the car culture and the efforts you put into work is priceless.
You achieved your dream, and many of ours. I'd love to have any jdm car right now, and you not only have multiple, you have 2 pinnacle dream cars of mine. A R32 and now R34, both in the exact colors I'd own too. Can't wait to see how much further your success goes!
You can do it!
Saaame! A mk3 supra, mk4 supra... A 32 and a 34... Throw in an nsx id be content forever 😂
Add an FD RX7 and an AE86 Trueno, a 240Z, and maybe a ST205 Celica GT-Four, and I'd be happy.
I wonder how much it cost?@LarryChenPhoto
You're a true appreciator of the car the way so many of us are - people who loved it when it was new but were kids back then. Congrats on achieving dream car status!!!!
Everyone in the UK aged about 30-50 "Holy shit the btcc primera!"
Legendary car.
Yep. The best era. Primera, Laguna, 155, 850, A4, Mondeo and Accord.
8 series was in BTCC?
Hey Larry, the Headlight-height adjuster is for how much luggage you put in your car, not just for when you're on bags. Usually cars with xenon headlights, they have that automatically, I guess these don't, or this used to be a halogen headlight car (with the closed off parking light section)
For some reason Japan did not require automatic headlight leveling for HID xenon headlights, the R33 does not have any adjustment even with the xenon headlights installed from the factory. Only the early R34s have this manual leveling adjustment, the later R34s remove it again for cost cutting.
Yep it is so you don't blind oncoming road users if nose of your car is pointing upwards. Loads of cars of this era have this in UK, I have seen it in UK market German and Japanese manufacturer cars as well as JDM imports. Guessing it isn't common or even a thing in America.
Best thing about watching you visit and see and interact with all these giants in the industry the people the companies the Cars and being just normal guy about it always just who you are and humble and genuinely interested and respectful of the sources of your content. Congratulations on the monster few years you've been having giving you this. Keep being you and enjoy life as much as possible!
@LarryChen you don’t need the board for the MFD, S1 R34 GTR already has the intake sensor pre-installed. You need to open the MFD diagnostics and turn the intake and Exhaust senors on and they will display on the MFD. you will only need the exhaust Sensor to get them all to work. I have a r34 gtr base and have done this and It works.
Congratulations Larry!
I only just got into your channel a few months back, but I’ve loved every video.
You come across as extremely nice, and humble and absolutely living the dream capturing unique footage of awesome cars across the world.
Seeing you achieve this dream is inspirational, and you clearly deserve this payoff to your efforts.
Keep up the great work 👍🏻😎
Congrats Larry. I was obsessed with my R32 GT-R, but secretly I always wanted to own an R34 GT-R!
Nothing wrong with one of each :D

I'm already grinning. I'm so glad that you have your dream, Larry, you 1000% deserve it. And I hope that one day, when I finally earn the keys to my dream R34, that it feels just as utterly, joyously satisfying as it feels to you.
Nice comments.....
Hit me up I have something for you ✅✅✅...
If anyone deserves this car...it's this guy. We have a car running at SLB so hope to meet you there!
In my opinion one of the most good looking cars. Looks like a sedan, it's a two door and is powerful. R34 is a badass car.
larry u are such a chill person, but u definitely could not hide ur smile the whole time talking about your dream car congrats
So wholesome and I love that you brought the fam to Japan!
As always car culture brings people together like the way music brings people together 👌Again happy for your new baby your speechless of joy comes thru the camera🙂😔
Congrats Larry! Well deserved. What a ride.
Great content as always, Larry. The Primera is one of the cars that won the British Touring Car Championship. They are SR20, 300bhp, normally aspirated, sequential transmission. If you ever get the chance to look under the hood of one, do it. They are insane.
Larry, what a great depiction of the difference between value/cash and value/passion. As a lifetime motorhead and huge fan of your work, keep the passion brother. Thanks for sharing!
My dream car is a Honda Civic Type R like the one @ 40:35. I am a big fan of you, Larry Chen, and your work. I have been subscribed to your channel for a long time. Over the years, you have inspired me to pursue my dream. I am in my last year of college where I am majoring in Automotive Technology emphasis on Engine Performance. It has been a journey and your videos have motivated me all along the way. I have created a UA-cam channel where I will post videos of myself working on my EF and applying all of the knowledge and skills I have learned in school. While I haven't posted any videos on my channel yet, I have many ideas for videos that I cannot wait to begin to create for the world to enjoy. Thank you so much for all that you do. It has opened my eyes to the possibilities someone can achieve in life if they have a genuine passion for something and work hard toward making their dreams a reality.
This makes me so happy❤ Congratulations Larry, you deserve it
Those LMGT MAG wheels are rare and collectible now. Congrats on getting those!!!
congrats!
As for the radio I say 'yeet it' let the turbo sing the song of its people and the blow off value scream from giving it all the boost. None of my rides have radios, motorcycle, truck, racecar, daily or boat 😅 love that ride🥰🥰🥰
Dream stuff man. Congrats and can’t wait to see the amazing photos you take of it
Congrats Larry, love the matching pic with Dino at Tsukuba. Awesome seeing childhood dreams come true!
In my heart and mind, it gives me great joy to see cars I love in the hands of those who can truly appreciate and care for them. Congratulations! Genuinely happy for you!
You more than deserve this Larry, congratulations. Living the dream most of us hope to accomplish one day. Best of luck with the build; I'm looking forward to following along
Larry, I am so thankful for these videos. Having followed you since I found SpeedHunters way back when, it makes me happy to be here now so that I can get to know you better. These videos are always amazing, keep up the great work!
Thank you so much for following along. It means so much to me.
Larry, you got to live the dream. Daily an R34 around Tokyo for a few weeks... gotta admit, even as a Scooby guy.. I am envious. It has been great watching you blossom into so much more than a good photographer. Godspeed, Larry.
Congratulations truly is the car for a lot of us that started it all.. your living the dream!
Really simple and entertaining video. No bgm made a huge positive difference.
The headlight adjuster is for when you have a lot of load in the rear of your car, so the back sags and causes the headlights to point up slightly (which could blind oncoming traffic)
This is inspiring me to keep saving and not settle but get something I really want for my next car!
Love the video Larry, with the prices these are now today you definitely made a dream come true. No question to me it was worth everything you went through.
Been a subscriber for a little while now. Love all of the honest and chill vibes, but screaming cars. Congratulations on this score man.
From NOTHING to SOMETHING! You are an inspiration.
remindes my of JP´s trip last year. i bet you both talked about this^^ the light regulator is for not blinding the oncoming traffic. if your front is to high and your end of the car is lower because of luggage or passengers. most new cars do this automaticaly but a lot of new cars from asia dont. my new inoiq 5 here in germany has this manual regulator but i never use it
Excellent level of information on the car and the vagaries of the Japanese system regarding export/owning a vehicle such as this, and others as you mentioned at the end.
As a side note, Larry’s images in print form are second to none. I have 2 and they are beyond superb. 👊🏻
Larry, I'm happy for you. That's incredible.
In high school, I watched the F&F prequal to the second movie where Brian finds his skyline at a used car lot and then fixes it up .... hundreds of times. I saved every penny from working at the local old school burger joint and bought an '89 240sx chassis along with ordering an imported SR20. Our senior year we had to right a senior paper. My teacher wanted it to be about some current issue and gave us a list of approved topics. I promptly threw out the list and over the course of a week wrote a very thorough ten-page paper on how a turbo charger worked. She wrote a big fat F on the paper along with a note expressing her disappointment. I barely passed the class, but didn't care at all....
That was 2005. Since then I've been very blessed, but have never had the ultimate prize ... Brian's (and by extension, mine) R34 GTR.
Back in 2011-ish You were kind enough to come to the open house I organized at Ireland Engineering and photographed my M20 engine with ITB's. The car that motor was destined for is nearly done... finally. This is to say, patience and hardwork pays off, as evidenced by your purchase! Glad you've realized your dream of owning a R34 GTR.... I'll catchup soon. Congratulations.
It was great seeing you in Japan with the 34 Larry!🎉 - Jesse Iwuji🤙🏾
I kind of similar the way you pick your cars, I also don't buy anything brand spanking new, its not like it used to be anymore. I also let things happen as they flow in any deal i and negotiating on, and usually bonuses and perks or not things usually always come in to my favor which i find a pleasant experience
Congrats Larry🤜🤛 and adjusting the headlights is also for towing etc lots of cars have it as far as i know over here in europe
I know R34's carried through into the 2000s, but The R34 is (to me atleast) the 'end' of the great 90s car era. I loved my 2 R34s when I was young and stupid. Enjoy it. Love it. Hoon it.
You’re doing what everyone dreams of. R34 is the baddest skyline ever!
Great car. For cleaning up and getting rid of the surface rust I’d recommend dry ice cleaning or blasting. It works wonders for removing dirt and rust without damaging the surface.
Great video and congrats. Also just an FYI headlight leveling knob is there on all JDM cars to help adjust the lights if you have extra weight in the back which can lead to lights pointing up.
Sick to see the progression of you building your collection!
Congratulations Bro Larry Chen Buying Nissan Legendary R-Chasiss,Nissan Skyline GT-R BNR34 (R34) 1999 Bayside Blue,My Favorite Car in Game Granturismo 3 And 4 Playstation 2 ,So Beautiful Car, I like it👍🏻👍🏻🥰🥰
Living that Shutokou Battle life 😮
Congrats Bro its so sick
The R34 is a magnificent car for sure, and those who can't understand why you would want an "old car" instead of a new one must not really understand what it's all about. I've set my mind on acquiring an R32 and I can't stop until I have one.
Congrats LArry , keep going, make sure and drive it as much as you can, and also the fun part is on corners with r34's
Good stuff dude
As a car guy I love seeing other guys getting their dream cars. Don’t feel about driving it either, Nissan didn’t build them to be in a garage they built them to be enjoyed.
So sick!
Love the wheels combo with the blue. Congrats, man!
Larry, congratulations! Good luck on your journey with this r34! I’ll definitely be looking out for more r34 content in the future.
Congrat Larry! Beautiful car! Must feel great to own a piece of automotive history 👍👍🔥
The headlight height adjustment is for mountain driving. Zero is normal and you turn it down when coming down the mountain, to not blind the traffic coming up.
Enjoy the car!
36:50 This is called headlight range adjustment. A lot of cars in europe have/had this. It is needed if you tow a trailer or if you got the car heavy loaded, which can also cause a change in the angle.
Cars with xenon (or LED) have a automatic headlight range adjustment so you dont need the manuel switch anymore.
buy r33, then you will have your own 'hot wheels team transport larry chen edition'
Congratulations Larry you deserve it.
Congrats Larry! I can't imagine how it feels to see this car and call it yours!
Congratulations Larry best cameraman in the game you deserve it.
Hit up🖕Let's

💙I have Gift for you🎁🎁
You are so inspiring to watch and it keeps me motivated to grow my little shop into something you would actually want to come and photograph one day.
Congrats Larry. Check the valet switch on the boot lock mechanism. It stops the cable release from working. I had the same issue on mine and it was just the valet switch.
Happy to see you getting your dream car. still remember the days of so cal maximas in the early 2000's. Wishing you many many more positive days and greater achievements!!
Mind blowing how that's a 99 and still looks so so good! Congrats man.
Well done larry you deserve it ❤
Congrats!! I recently purchased a car that I had wanted since they first came out. I smile every time
I look at it. Enjoy!!
2:11 that's legit a BTCC Nissan Primera from 97-98 in immaculate condition 🤯🤯🤯
Happy to see you with your dream car Larry !! Cheers from Brazil.
Don't know you bro but I'm proud of you dude - right on enjoy your life and do what makes you happy 👊
You absolutely crushed this man, congratulations!!!!
Hard work paid off nice car looks like it has a lot of potential congrats 🎉
You adjust headlamps depending on interior load. Lots of items in the back will cause the front to rise, blinding people. You then use the toggle to dip the headlights back down.
Woohoo! Good for you man! You deserve it!
Congratulations Mr. Chen.👏👏👏
Wow congrats! Living the dream man. One day I'll own my JDM dream
Congrats! New headlights are $1700 so not too bad. I just did that on mine. Mine is basically identical but it's a 2000. Still a Series 1 tho! Excited to see what you'll do to it!
Looks so cool! Sucks that now I finally have the potential to afford one of these at the price when I first started looking at these, the same car is now completely unaffordable. What’s the point of earning more money if the price of everything increases even more? Lol you can’t win.
The headlight height adjustment is actually for when you really load up the car on the back. You can set them lower to not blind other road users
a new r35 gtr wouldnt bring as much joy longterm. i feel the new cars joy would fade within a year as the r34 will keep you smiling for life.
36:51 - The reason they could adjust head lamp is because back in 1998/99 HID is so advanced at that time and Nissan(Infinity) was the first few automakers using that. In the U.S. Infinity Q45 also has the same adjustable switch. And because at that time Nissan couldn’t develop adaptive head lamp system like BMW, therefore they used manual control. Otherwise that HID(Xenon) head light is gonna blind other drivers/pedestrian.
Fun fact, because back in 99, I saw my friend’s father’s Q45 has that switch. So I went to Infinity dealer to ask service guy. That’s how I find out why they made that.
Also that’s why you see most of JDM such as Honda S2000, Acura, and Lexus back in 1999/2000 around those years, their HID head lights can not move go up and down or left and right. Some can move left and right when the car is turning but most of can’t adjust up and down. Unlike MBenz or BMW already developed adaptive head lamp.
Dude you are so good at what you do !!!! Congratulations on achieving a goal and a dream
Good for you Larry Chen
Soooo 2 things:
1: I'm so stoked for you brother, you definitely deserve it my guy. Also, all of us can reat assured she will be treated well. Cant wait for more content!
2: please tell us all your making a print/poster of those 5 bayside blue beauties together!
Bayside Blue and White Nismo wheels are just SICK!. It is the way the color combo should be for a GT-R. The R34 is the nicest model of the lot. Great car, way over engineered for its time. Still smokes most cars at the lights. Congrats!.
Congratulations on purchasing a Time Machine. No matter what year a R34 will truly hold its spot as one of the greatest JDM cars known to man. Goodshit Larry
I think U're really humble person and has a cool personality ..and has a great life..keep the work bro
Forget KW, get MeisterR Club versions. Better than any KW. Race winning track performance, but quality ride on the roads. Or go with MeisterR CRD if you want mostly road with occasional autoX. Made in UK.
Nice comments.....
Hit me up I have something for you ✅✅✅...
Thank you for sharing this!!!
Beautiful. It sounds amazing.
R34 has a iconic legendary presence on the road.
Massive congrats Larry, literally living the dream of many! I hope you really enjoy it, well deserved goal! Also, isn't your car a 1999-7? At least according to the VIN, that means it will be legal in July of 2024. 😅
i´m counting the days to see the pictures you will take of your r32 and r34 next to each other. Complimentary contrast made in heaven
