Gosh, I've also had this tune in my head for 30 years, I've been searching for this for probably 10 years now, I didn't know what the cartoon was, but only could remember the themes and the variations in my head and had no idea it was Thunderbirds 2086, didn't even remember that name. Just knew it was space themed. All I remember was coming home from school and watching this on TV and loving it, and loving the soundtrack.
Glad you found it. I come over to you tube just to listen to it every so often or to watch an episode or two. Thanks to that genius who came up with the idea of UA-cam.
You're right, JazzPianoObsessed. I don't know what I'd do without youtube. I'd probably be scouring every library on the planet looking for these oldies.
This intro was light years ahead of its era. It presents real-time 3D modeling with wireframe rendering and real-time texturing. These were unknown with the technology of the 80s.
Those weren't textured graphics. They used a regular drawing and shaded it in after the wireframe was drawn. Also, wireframe graphics weren't unknown back then. They just weren't common because they were expensive. Tron used wireframes in some scenes, and that came out in 1982.
@@skylinefever Yes, but if you see these 3D models they are not simple models, they are complex and designed very nicely. The computer which designed these graphics I believe will be very advanced (For its era). Back in 1982 we do not even have color monitors. These are colorful and render the models fast. I believe the computer which designed this would be very expensive and the studio had advanced hardware. They look very simple for today's technology but these were wonders 40 years ago. Of course the first 3D model that was designed was in wireframe first. But textures? fast rendering?
@@takis76 Yes, those computers were extremely expensive. In the early 1980s, many companies had to fake wireframe graphics. Escape From New York used fake computer graphics in 1981 because the computers were too expensive.
To those who wonder, no, this was never meant to be a Thunderbirds show. its simply a anime called 'Scientific Rescue Team Techno Voyager', which had the Thunderbirds name slapped on in the dub, probably for marketing purposes.
I think what might have happened is Japanese would probably pronounce Voyager potentially like "boy-o-ja" so they may have written TB on each vehicle for that reason. Overseas finds the series is about rescue and each vehicle has "TB" written on, easy to sell it as a Thunderbirds spin off.
That being said, the influence of Thunderbirds is pretty evident in the show - even some of the same sound effects from the Anderson productions are used.
I think it’s fair to say it was heavily influenced by the original. 3 of the 4 main vehicles are virtually identical as is the whole concept. Plus the TB thing was unlikely a complete coincidence🤔
An excellent adaption and tribute of Gerry Anderson's TB, I feel. Loved this show, which was pretty high-tech for its time, both in the limited use of CGI and the concepts for technology and scope of the organisation. Great stuff...
Thanks for the upload. I have searched for this for literally years, had no idea what I was searching for, just had the music in my head.. I was getting desperate and was even tempted to learn on piano what was in my head, post on UA-cam and ask if anyone knew of it. Phew, didn't have to do that though, so glad I finally found it.
And after all these years ... "The Thunderbird" - TB1, TB2 and TB3 are actually getting an official model kit made. Essentially the first piece of merchandise this series has ever had outside of a UK annual, which came out before the series aired over here!
this d@mned theme (the outro specifically) was the bane of my childhood, as it was usually the first thing i heard in the morning when i woke up for elementary school. thanks for posting it. :)
@@geetaramnath3147 now I just remembered G-Force which might be a contender as well Edit: apparently G-Force aired 1 year AFTER this but old-school lion Voltron aired 1 year BEFORE....
Robert Mandell. Owen Locke. Yup. that verifies it. I heard about this series, as Mandell commented that he re-used a lot of elements from it when making Galaxy Rangers. Thanks for putting this up. I'll have to look into this series.
@Allronix Ah cheers for that. Checking the wiki page for Thunderbirds 2086 I see that it is set roughly twenty years after the original puppet series of Thunderbirds.
A show like this would make a fun cheesey Sci-Fi Live Action show in the sort of tone of Buck Rogers in the 25th century - where are Adventures of the Galaxy rangers is tonally a combination of Cowboys, Cop show and Super Hero Drama I'd suggest. It's a shame they didn't call it TB 2186 though. The Casual Use of Space Travel seems to suggest a longer time in the future even 2286 especially if they didn't have Aliens to help bootstrap their technology. I wish this sort of adventure show was still made though more often I miss them.
The outro has been in my head for 30 yrs!

you too! i thought i was the only one. "do, do, do..."
I love the start and ending theme. By watching this program in my child hood I became a concept spaceships artist. Awesome.
That beginning of the outro was living rent-free in my head throughout the 80's
Love this cartoon when I was a kid, always thought it had one of the coolest Intro.
Same here
In the 1980s, computer grids made everything more cool.
This intro was light years ahead of its era. It presents real-time 3D modeling with wireframe rendering and real-time texturing. These were unknown with the technology of the 80s.
You are so right. Better than these days series. awesome music. Best ever series. Even now nothing comparing to it.

the outro is so damned epic. needs an orchestral interpretation
To those who wonder, no, this was never meant to be a Thunderbirds show. its simply a anime called 'Scientific Rescue Team Techno Voyager', which had the Thunderbirds name slapped on in the dub, probably for marketing purposes.
I guess the concept of a rescue organization and the whole TB initials on the crafts were the reason ITC promoted the dub as a Thunderbirds thing.
I think what might have happened is Japanese would probably pronounce Voyager potentially like "boy-o-ja"
so they may have written TB on each vehicle for that reason.
Overseas finds the series is about rescue and each vehicle has "TB" written on, easy to sell it as a Thunderbirds spin off.

Yeah.... Also the only way to see all 24 episodes, TechnoBoyager was cancelled after episode 18

The greatest cartoon intro EVER!!!
I have always loved wireframe graphics, so I love the intro for that reason.
Oh my God. This brought back so many memories
The outro music always stuck in my mind more. Remember it being a bit more rad than it is, though.
me too. outro my all time favorite theme
And after all these years ...
"The Thunderbird" - TB1, TB2 and TB3 are actually getting an official model kit made.
Essentially the first piece of merchandise this series has ever had outside of a UK annual, which came out before the series aired over here!
A simple use of the Technoboyager opening theme without the Japanese lyrics and a BGM track from the show for the end credits. Very effective. :)
Love the ending theme.I watched this show in my childhood. That is how I became concept spaceships artist.
this d@mned theme (the outro specifically) was the bane of my childhood, as it was usually the first thing i heard in the morning when i woke up for elementary school. thanks for posting it. :)
I vaguely remembered watching this as a very young child. A bit of googling and I found this. This brings back memories.
I just realized this mightve actually been my first real exposure to anime without even realizing it. I think this came before... Robotech?
I was just thinking the same thing. My first real anime, I loved it even though I never knew what anime was or the name "anime".
@@geetaramnath3147 now I just remembered G-Force which might be a contender as well

Maybe, but this came on in the late morning, and Robotech was in a 6 am time slot, so if you slept in at all you missed it.
@@nuanil Thunderbirds was more missable because it was exclusive to Showtime and thats assuming you even had cable for those networks back then

You're welcome. :) I never really liked the show itself but the outro music was memorable.

@MITOGEN I know that with GR, it was part shout-out to Thunderbirds and part because 2086 was exactly 100 years after the series debut (1986)
The intro has been in my head for the last 5 years
and all I remembered was the 6. 20 something 6
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Came in my pants
Much better than Turbocharged Thunderbirds
I wish Me tv would play with this version.

So it’s only 20 years later?
@Allronix Cheers, can you tell me what was the significance of the year 2086, used for both series'?
my favorite music part starts from 2:07 and finish at 2:26.
Is the show any good?
top class.
classic
Personally, I prefer the original series (ya know the puppet version)
But the music and sounds are so awesome!
Poor Thunderbirds. They never had a proper reboot. This anime series was pretty meh and the least said about the 2004 movie the better...
