@@austinitel.2972 no she didn't? Lilia's opening was an F pass (same as double layout), her middle pass was very easy and she finished with a full-in like Simona. Simona had two middle passes with way more difficulty than Lilia. Simona had much more difficulty and better amplitude as well, she deserved the gold. Lilia's routine is overrated af.
@@211jump Lilia had lower difficulty, worse tumbling and her so-called dance is highly overrated. She does have a toe-point to die for but that's pretty much the only thing in her favor.
@@euler2718100 Wrong....everything, yes Everything about Lilia's routine was better... The music, the dancing, and the tumbling. Simona didn't even deserve to beat Dawes. Simona's dancing is offensively bad.
Difficulty-wise, Lilia's tumbling pass were F , C , C , E, while Amanar's were F , A+D+A, E, E. In no ways Lilia had more difficulties. Just the judges liked her routine more tho.
Lilia won on reputation alone. Her third tumble should have received a deduction and didn’t. Same thing as the AA and her bars- bent knees but no deduction!
I think the placing was correct on this one. Amanar better than Dawes, but Podkopayeva was in a class of her own here. Would have been interesting to see the results subbing Kerri Strug (as the top qualifier) with Dawes as well. Think she would have also factored in the top 3 here.
I think Kerri would have beat Simone, but I think Dawes should have beaten Simona. While her tumbling was great, her dancing was atrocious. And Yes, Lilia deserved this one.
I'd have probably placed it as Podkopayeva first, Dawes second and Amanar third, mainly because Lilia and Dominique did have better dance--but figure that the sheer power of Simona's tumbling can't be denied.
@@0xTRellyx0 I don't think Strug beats Simona. Simona scored a 9.85, and Strug was not going to score higher than that which would require atleast 2 judges to give her 9.9. That wasn't happening. At absolute best she would have tied. I doubt even that, when she got only a 9.837 in team optionals when the scoring was much higher than either the All Around or event finals for anyone (for instance Simona got a 9.887 in team optionals). If she were lucky she would have beaten out Moceanu to match Dawes's bronze and I am not sure she even manages that. Also funny you talk about Simona's horrible dance, when Strug is an even worse dancer and her choreography is comical.
Podkopyeva also had an extreme lack of control on her third tumbling pass which received no deduction at all. Excellent dance is great but she should have received deductions for lack of control.
one of my favs, I remember this as if it was yesterday. I was obsessed with artistic gymnastics and tried to imitate the athetes :D in our garden.
absolutely stellar tumbling, both skills and technique
Tumbling? Yes. Dance? Not in any way at all.

Esta rutina me emociona realmente. Que increiblemente enfocada. Espectacular
It's called "Nutrocker" by B.Bumble & the Stingers, who were all from the UK. It came out back in 1962.
The best!!
And she does all that and then just walks out and sits down as if it were nothing. I got tired just watching.
Shows her brilliant training.
that was a helluva triple
If the "video is not available", why does YT even bother to show it?
Smh, sigh...
She deserved the Gold. That was brilliant tumbling. Lilia Podkopayeva's sloppy landing on the third pass should have given Simona the gold.

Do know someone the name of the song in this routine?
hard to argue with x4 top-rated rumbling passes for the time
nutcraker modern music ❣

Dominique moceanu was performing a beam routine during this
Why would she do that?
That was during team finals.

Had her dance routine been a little stronger she would have won gold. She lost because Lilia had the difficulty incorporated with great dance skills.

The true gold medal routine. Lilia's so-called dance (more like posing) is highly overrated and boring.
If you call Lilia dance posing, then what do you think of Aliya’s “dance”?
Difficult passes, yes. Choreography, as if she was possessed.
Overscored. Dawes should have won silver.
