The weather has been nice here too. It reached 84° here today. Tomorrow, it's supposed to reach 86°. Might have to put my bedroom AC on tonight. Planted some herbs on Sunday, and tomato plants will be planted by this weekend. I'll be happy when all has been planted.

I only use cast iron pans...use crisco to season...lightly applied it won't leave a sticky residue...once my pan is cooled enough to touch I run it under hot tap water until it's warm then scrape it with a lodge plastic scraper to loosen any bits...then dump the water and run under hot water again...wipe with a soapy sponge...then rinse and dry well...place on a burner on low and wipe with just a small amount of crisco on a paper towel...if u want u can then save that paper towel in a zip lock for fire starters when camping 😉

Thank you Amanda. That is a great idea about using the paper towel to start a fire.

Y’all look good! You said Glen is older than you, but he looks pretty darn young. That means you are still a whippersnapper🙂

I clean mine with salt, then wipe with oil. If I really need to, I'll use water, but then I put it in the oven and dry it or preseason it. Glad you guts get Tobe outside together. As summer comes, take care of yourself. There is so much to do. Make sure to take time to rest and enjoy the time. ❤

Good job on the lawn! I’m so jealous of your temps there! I live in west Texas and it was 101° here yesterday! But today will be “cold” - only 93°. 🥵😂

Don't use soap in a cast iron pan. I always cook with cast iron..water is fine it won't hurt it I clean mine with salt and water then put it back on top the stove on low to dry it that way then put a little oil in to season it I use coconut oil. Never use soap on them.

You can use soap because it's not made with lye if your buying at the store. That's why you weren't supposed to use soap before. Been doing it for years no issue.

What I would recommend for an extra butter container is a recycled Land o Lakes 8oz butter tub. They are $2.48 at my local Walmart. The lid fits well and it holds a regular sized stick of butter nicely and you get a half pound of butter from the purchase.

I’d be eating that bacon! My cast iron, I throw in the dishwater, scrub & rinse well! It’s at least 35 years I’ve been doing it!😊

In the South, you’d get your @ss busted for putting cast iron in the dish washer. That’s a big NO. Ruins the seasoning of the pan and causes rust.
