I really would be more cautious of snakes in such locations. Piles of rubbish near water ... ideal for Joe Blake. I also suggest that the dust in the admin block may well be asbestos. So please take care explorers! Congrats on one of Australia's best urban exploration vids.
I'm amazed that you managed to find so many remnants of the park after so much time. I only went once as a young child, but I've never forgotten it. The photos that you found are really awesome! I've been trying for ages to find photos of the park and would love to see them all. Have you put them up online anywhere? Were there many more than the ones you showed in this video?
Wow nice find mate, some good old history there.. Sad to see alot of old abandoned places around Australia, I lived in Cambelltown NSW and so many places around that area were closed down unbeleivable. Thanks for showing us, I love Aussie History :)
The downfall of all these places was the introduction of the Public Liability Insurance. It became compulsory for all and most attractions couldn't afford to pay and maintain the park as well.
I went here about 5-6 years ago, Pretty much everything in this video was there, However we managed to make our way up near the tops of the slide, It was hard because they zig zagged and had given way in lots of areas. It was an amazing experience and ill never forget exploring that place! :)
I know the dry slide was free. I think most of the park was free once you paid, but some rides were 50c or $1 to have a go. It was a family run business and I think they only charged enough to cover costs and make a modest profit.
Fun fact. An early 80s movie called Hostage had a scene filmed here. A whole bunch of families were invited one night and all us kids got free rides on the night.
I used to come there as a kid back in the early 1980's, i suppose Australias wonderland took the crown. ''Lucky you did not slice your ass going down the slide'' lol
You deserve a free show bag just for documenting all this... If I knew this was still there before development, I could have made a zombie short film as the new furries for that de-relect amusement park... I don't my family ever took there in it's hey days, to make up for it, my Dad in the mid 80's aged 4-6 took me on more intense rides at Luna Park and Wonderland...
I wished my children had the chance to see this kind of place and others like it ,everyone needs a childhood that's a bit peter pan and magical before the age of 7
Mate very nice... I remember the place at approx the same age. I also like the having to pay to go on things. We were pov and only got to ride the free stuff. However I do remember going on the water slides and the spinning rides... We never got to go on the boats on the lake though...
I worked there from 1994 to 1996 with all my mates I grew up with in Lansvale. I remember the company was struggling at this time but still had lots of bookings with different demographics of people ect. I can remember working to help out a New Zealand waitangi day which had a bungee jump from a crane, to a full rave music festival which when to the morning. Great time with my old mates!
dunno if its why this closed but i remember in the 90's there was a mass insurance scare and loads of places couldnt get insured and just shut up shop think it was about the time Australia's wonderland closed
Australia's Wonderland closed in 2004. It's thought that the company that bought the park only bought it to cash in on it's land value and deliberately ran the park into the ground, they only added one ride in the whole 7 years they owned it so there is probably truth to this rumor.
I was so sure that the grounds of this place were once Adventureland. I can remember the shoe, but I googled O'Neill s Adventureland and it says it is out near Camden. I don't remember any of the other stuff at the Camden one. if anyone can solve the mystery.
Hi Daniel, a couple of friends and I are filming a documentary there for uni and I was wondering if we could use the footage of you going down the slide. Its all non-commercial use and for our end of semester assignment. We would be sure to credit you with the footage.
Have you been to the abandoned zoo. It's the most breathtaking place I've ever been to. I'll do you a swap if you havent. You give me one of your good locations not too far away though and I'll tell you where this place is.
i know in "urban exploration" the general rule of thumb is to leave the place how you found it but concidering its probably going to be demolished one day i would of grabbed whatever i could in that reception to preserve the history of the place.. unfortunately the 2 parks near me "Amazons and Oxley Grand Prix" that closed down were demolished before i was old enough do visit the abanoned ruins.
The rules to urban exploring: 1: Don't die 2:Don't be stupid 3:have food packed in a backpack 4:don't damage your phone/camera/gameboy cameras 5: don't die....again 6.🏛😵=NO 7:[}>-
Probably an urban legend, like the razor blades on the waterslides that allegedly caused the downfall of Mount Druitt Waterworks. Pure speculation, but my money is that the girl falling off the slide was a rumour started to explain the park's closure.
Daniel Raffaele that is true last time when me and my mate went to explore it I got the chills and we heard a girl say dad is that you so we all ran and all said "we're never coming back" 😂 we had a blast running tho hahah
you are right about that it's the downfall of the company cuz they can't afford much mating works like the filter the pumped the parts for the rides go extinct that goes you don't make part after 5 or 10 years he stopped making a part for the ride and the end up because they can't afford new ride they're trying to scrape up with the money they do have to get new rides but they are trying to bring rides back but it takes a while but yes due to lack of insurance lack of people that get in lack of public and it doesn't help when you got people vandalizing stuff and throwing trash and throwing it in the water and smoking drug eye kid water park that does not help now I'm not saying anyone the I know I've seen to that but I know publicity people do that before but yeah they do that kind of shit in the rain the most part that's a lack of insurance oh yeah there's not much you can do about that is holding pray that they don't probably did probably come all the way of fixing an opening back and bring it back to life so but yeah
This Park was in my backyard, free entry for most locals! GOOD TIMES!
I really would be more cautious of snakes in such locations. Piles of rubbish near water ... ideal for Joe Blake.
I also suggest that the dust in the admin block may well be asbestos. So please take care explorers!
Congrats on one of Australia's best urban exploration vids.

As Peter Crenshaw, from the Three Investigators, would say:” I’ll buy a double helping of that”
Went there many times as a kid.
Slid down this slide. What great memories.
Wow I went to this park in the 1970s when I was 7 years old, thanks so much for sharing this it brings back so many memories,
Having never been as far as I'm aware, I discovered the park online and looked over it on Google earth but man this video is awesome!
This was a great watch My Wife danced there on that very stage It bought back many memories for her .What a shame it has come to that
A lot of work places use to come to this park for Christmas Parties as well, but then along came Wonderland.

I remember the commercials on TV about this in the early 1980s ... Great video thank you for sharing
Omg this brings back memories of my childhood here.

Had a lot of fun watching this
$3 entry was pretty good value. Does anyone know how much the rides were once you were in?

+Old Aussie Ads for memory it was free.
Rides were free once you paid your entrance fee.
Fun fact. An early 80s movie called Hostage had a scene filmed here. A whole bunch of families were invited one night and all us kids got free rides on the night.

+Damian Dimond u where right it was still going in the 90's

Have you been to the abandoned zoo. It's the most breathtaking place I've ever been to. I'll do you a swap if you havent. You give me one of your good locations not too far away though and I'll tell you where this place is.
I didn't even know there was an abandoned zoo. I'm not really an urban explorer. I just decided to do this on a whim one day.
weird question, but are you from the country
Negan lol no, Sydney born and bred.
Love forever
I spent my childhood there
Dammit. I thought the frontyard was just invaded by never before seen Autumn cicadas.
I heard that is was haunted?
😱
The only thing haunting here is your english

It was also deceptive how high it was for a 6yo
well that is so great
You have been watching another, Dan Cheats Death By Climbing On Broken Old Things production.
from what ive heard this place is haunted id get in get out, the ghost of the little girl might appear
Never heard that one. What's the story?
apparently a child fell to her death from the giant slide, but mk claim no deaths have ever happened at the park, spose ya gotta see it to believe it
Probably an urban legend, like the razor blades on the waterslides that allegedly caused the downfall of Mount Druitt Waterworks. Pure speculation, but my money is that the girl falling off the slide was a rumour started to explain the park's closure.
yep... public liability insurance.. a kid illegally climbs a fence and falls and parents sue, yet they witness their little devil spawn doing it...
This place is creepy af if you go there
Nathan Le It did have a certain "come play with us forever and ever" kind of vibe.
Daniel Raffaele that is true last time when me and my mate went to explore it I got the chills and we heard a girl say dad is that you so we all ran and all said "we're never coming back" 😂 we had a blast running tho hahah
I saw a boy some kid died there
I went through 2 days ago, all i saw was a Red Belly.
Atleast it wasn't a brown snake
