    I am no longer a teacher of English but I would like to say that your example
    This book is for John and me was not correct when I was a schoolboy. It is a corruption from American English which is now recognised as correct.
    This book is for John and I is better English.

      Hi, Andy! Thank you for your comment! Allow me to disagree with you. The example “This book is for John and I” is definitely wrong and not better English. Unfortunately, I hear many people make this mistake. The pronoun “I” can never be used as an object. It’s always used as a subject.
