- One of the most common complications of fairy lights is a broken conducting wire. In this video, i will show you how to repair that.
You will need a soldering iron with soldering metal and flux and an insuling tape.

Disclaimer: This is my hobby and I do it because I enjoy it. I am not a professional in this field. I am open to feedback if any.
Thanks a ton 🥺 you actually saved my resin piece. After light fixed in resin, it got dried, andddd the light stopped working.. my heart skipped a beat.. I was literally about to cry imagining to recreate them🥲 Thank goodness, I found your video✨️
This worked like a charm. Thank you!
Just what I was looking for. Very helpful. Informative and very simple. Thankyou.
Thank you, my lights were broken in half and this video was easy to understand and it worked!
I'm glad they worked, kathy!
Thank you so much. I had not realized they were coated. It was so hard to tell. Thank you 🤗
Fire it a cigar lights, you will realize it was because if not coated the wire can not burn,
Thanks for this video! I was able to fix a set of twinkle lights we put up at Xmas. The wire must have broke when I put it away last year.
Thank you!! I was trying to strip them but they're too thin 🤦🏻♂️ never thought to use sandpaper
Wow. 1st miny lights repair that I'm impressed with. Thank u.
Thank you. It was easy to understand. The method worked for our lights 👍
1 min problem solved, used a lighter to burn off the edges ..
Super useful, thanks , God bless!
thank you for the tutorial. I'm planning to lengthen the fairy lamp but don't know how to connect the wire and now I got the answer☺️
thank you. this is straight to the point and informative.
Thank you so much, I splice a lot of decorative lights to change them seasonally and I was kind of puzzled about these spring cherry blossom fairy lights. 🙏
Tq so much it’s work !! Those who didn’t have sand paper you guys can actually scrap it using scissors 👌
This video is really valuable, I don't have a sandy paper in hand, I think and do another way easier this and get a result in success. Simply cut the copper wire around 1.5 cm (one or two side if needed to join depending situation), then using cigar light to fire that cuts and clean by a soft tissue or linen. Afterward, do it joined by twist and tape it seperately.
Thank you for this video! You made it very easy to understand, and I appreciate that! I'm 76 and never had the need to solder before BUT I'm creating a custom shadowbox using a pre-made frame. I'll place the embroidered Christmas wreath, complete with lights, inside BUT I need to put the battery pack outside of it because it's too bulky to put inside the frame. Since I have placed the lights permanently in the wreath by stitching over the wire, I need to disconnect and then reconnect the wires so that I can make a small hole in the back of the frame and the pull the wire through. I do have a question, though...can I use Duck (not DUCT, but DUCK) tape to wrap the splicing, rather than electrical tape?
I think electrical tape would be the best sir/ma'am. To mitigate hazards like fire or shocks. Also awesome to hear at 76 you're getting creative! You're more young at heart than us youth!
@@AKSHUNAK Thanks for your response, AKSHUNAK! I really appreciate it. I truly believe that we all need to keep growing mentally every day by learning something new. I have never in my entire life said, "I can't do that." I may have tried and failed, but I've never said, "I can't." As to the soldering, what I wound up doing was twisting the wires together, applying the solder and then using shrink wrap made specifically for the purpose to seal the deal! It works wonderfully; I've made several shadowboxes since my post. As for being young at heart, when my granddaughter told me, at age 10, that I was very childish, I told her I'd rather be a child at 70 than an old lady at 10. Shut her up fast, LOL. 😃
@@TisEyerish1 Thank you for your words of wisdom and inspiration. I will keep this in mind on a daily basis❤️
Oh my friend. Eternally thanking you for your video. Much love x
This was great, saved yet another set of my kid's broken fairy lights. I used a nail file instead of sandpaper. Was so surprised when they all came back on again. Hate things going to landfill. Thanks for great video x
Hi. First off, thanks for this explanation. It all makes sense now. I was wondering how it was that these wires touched each other without shorting. Apparently these have non-cunducting material like any other wire has. It's just so small that it's hard to tell.
You should be making ASMR videos, you would get famous as you are naturally gifted with that amazing accent. oh & thank you for the demo on fixing my lights :)
Finally someone that knows what their talking abt,,,thank you sir.
Awesome thank u! I have these in solar on my restaurant signs around town and I broke one wire and had no clue how to fix it lol
Thanks for the help I like your trick for repairing my fairy light
Hi. Nice video. I have lights where the wire came out of the USB socket, is it possible to fix that?
Instead of insulating tape, use silicone and rub over the splice, allowing to fully dry in eight hours just to be sure.
Test the silicone covered splice with a few drops of water.
If the wire fairy lights don't short out, which they shouldn't if silicone coated completely.
Now you don't have to worry about the splice not being waterproof.
Bro, your video saved my day... Thanks a ton!
Hi! Lovely video! To the point and clear! The thing is, I have 2 copper rice lights like the ones in the video, But, they aren't coated, they're copper through and through, and they work perfectly well, I just need to connect them, so I can use one point to light them. Can that be done? how do I know which wire to connect to which one, (there are 2 in each) or it doesnt matter? Do I still need to sand them? So many questions, I know! Will appreciate it, if you could answer! Thanks!
If possible send me the link to the lights so that i can see them...i need to know what type of connection is available...does it have a usb attached?...is it battery operated?...how do the suppliers expect you to connect them?

Thank you so much, this totally saved my project
Thank you!! I really appreciated that because I caught them in my weedeater😔
It works! Thank you Very Much
You have solved my problem thanks for sharing this video
Thank you 🥺
Does it work the same way if both wires are broken? :(
im pretty sure it does as long as the electricity could travel??
Yes. My cat ate mine in half. Followed this tutorial and got them working again. I put heat shrink over my repair. I put them together and the colors were different. Had to take them apart and switch the wires. All good.
Thank you so much for this video , can I take this light wire, so that I have not a 10 m long but 2 wire with 5m. Is this possible or do I need some resisters for this ?
Thanks, great instructional video!
You just saved me $40usd. I have this EXACT strand and couldn't figure out how to get at the wires to fic them.
Thanks! It is amazing trick!!
Thanks for the video. But what if a copper wire comes loose from the plug? Can you do a how to for that?
Thank u soo much… u saved my resin art piece
This is great. We'll do your recommendation.
Great work. Can you do a video about joining fairy lights.
thank you so much but how do we fix it if the lights are proper just they are producing really dim light...it would be great if u help me out
Thanks a ton man! Just fixed this before the night of the trip. Finally I can click some dope pictures. I was so worried. Btw I'm commenting from my firend's laptop. xD
Worked for me, Thanks.
Are fairy lights series or parallel circuit?
Thanks.. Useful tip
Thanks bro for your kind information
Thank you, my new kitten got ahold of 3 sets in 4 hours🤦♀️
Can u teach how to connect two fairy lights together?
How have you connected the wire to the main source via adapter?
Tqsm.... Same thing happened to my light... At the end moment of lighting it☀☀
I did this. Its working. I had to cut off two of the bulbs. But now that its working, every bulbs are getting very hot. :"( is this a problem? Or is it normal? I didn't check the temperature before fixing tho.
Thank you! 🙏
Can we use foil paper instead of soldering
Can we merge 2 wires to extend??
Awesome thank you. !
This was a huge help
How do you fix it if the wire is ruptured at the base of the plug
Thanks for this little information
Use sand paper where you want to join. Scratch points so you can join actual copper wires which are covered with non conductive material.
i cant see what you are doing but the info was good
It works ! Thanks a lot bro 😍
Lets say i have 3 fairy lights, Are those fairy light Can combine all together in one ?
What do I do if the break is close to the actual led; I tried this but it didn’t work because I couldn’t wrap anything.
I ordered a string of fairly lights and I only need like 1 foot, can i cut the wire to shorten them? And also, do i have to sodder them? Can’t i just twist them and wrap in electrical tape?
Hey...you can cut them to 1 foot..but you would have to count the nunber of leds and supply the appropriate current and voltage...as to your second question...you can cut them and twist them together with electrical tape...but be sure to expose the conductive wire for the string lights...have a look at my other video for that
My willow prelit tree quit working but I don't know how to find which one is bad.
One of my wire came out of the network box, i tried to put it back nd then lyts were back to work.. They started lyting again but aftersometime, it got sparked... Nww, is there a chance to make it work
Thank you
Thanks!
What if none of the lights work? I tried new batteries.
Probably one of the lights has burnt out...or one of them is damaged...you would have to examine each and every light untill you find the damaged one
I tried this but the wire just became thinner and thinner. So then the joined the two broken pieces. Let's see if it works
Please tell me how could repair the rice light if single bulb is fuse?
Hi..thank you so much for the vedio. Could u plz help me to repair my cork light. I've worked on it till now(@2AM), by the end of my project the lights are not working. I tried opening the batteries and refix them, but no use. Could u plz plz plz help me😔. If i can fix the lights, it just helps me alot. Plz help😔😔
Plz give buying link 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Can i still use my fairy lights even though it is cut? For a day? Since i will do this maybe tommorow thank you
Btw can i use lighter instead of what you are using? Since i dont have that thing
No you cant use it as such... only the lights before the breakage will light up
U can just use sandpaper and then twist the wires together...you dont have to solder them
ua-cam.com/video/CzOrWCz0SMI/v-deo.html
What is the yellow thing?
I couldn’t find sand paper so took a lighter and burnt the outer later and then connected and they worked ..
Hey. Actually mine are wire based. And it got cut out from one of those small led. Can I fix it?
What do u mean by wire based?...can you send me a picture of your wire based lights
Thanks❤
Excellent
Tq brother but how to fix the ends to plug
Thanks
hello, do you know how to fix the fairy lights that all its tiny bulb are not working?
Usually fairy lights that have bulbs dont work because one of the bulbs has burnt out...so in order for it to work you need to find out which bulb has a broken filament and then remove that and reconnect the circuit by soldering the points between the bulb
thank you so much
Good!
Thank you it worked
what if its not about the wire?
Hi i was wondering if this also work if the two wire were cut off?
Can you be a little more specific as to which two wires?
@@joaquimnoguer6134 So my problem is, there are two cords connected to the lights themselves and to the usb cord, The two cords are cut, all the lights are separated from the usb cord.
Sorry english is not my first language, so i really dont know how to explain it.
If possible send me a picture of the wires to my email address joaquim6469@gmail.com...coz i cnt figire out what these wires are...are the spare wires???...are the comnected end to end...if not then it doesnt seem that they complete a circuit and cutting it wont matter
Oh i get it now, thank you so much 😊
Hi Maria. I have the same problem. Did you fix yours?
Heyy!!! My string light is broken from middle and it is now in 2 parts.. how should i fix it? Plz help
