This brings me home, I rode out many hurricanes a few miles from the end of the Mississippi, you'll hit a dead end about 5 miles south of where I lived, got wiped out more times than you can count on one hand. Rode them all out on a boat, wherever we could find shelter. The eye of Katrina waltzed right over us. I trapped, hunted, fished trawled then worked in the oil fields, worked my way up from a deckhand to the Master (captain) of large vessels, my crew and I tried our best to save a crane operator from getting burned up, the movie lied, he went down with the rig in the crane.,I've been handicapped since I was 9, 1 useless arm, a leg shorter than the other, a crooked back due to my paralysis. I retired a few years later, living much further north, will never flood here. Baton Rouge flooded, my yard just got wet for a while. Ian went past and took out 25 of my trees, I slept through it, then started the generator, and took 3 other generators I had so the old folks around here would have electricity. Took the tractor and cleaned up neighbor's property, I have no more desire to live near the swamps again. I'll just grow my garden, kill some deer, and make some wine with my 27-year-old wife, and leave everything I have to her when I'm gone. I've had a good life while handicapped for most of it, other than 9 years. lol
