This tutorial shows how to make a beautiful crystal heart cake topper using Isomalt which is perfect for anniversary cakes, valentines cakes and birthday cakes. Isomalt is a sugar substitude used in cake decoration which is available in the baking supplies stores. Usually 2 types of Isomalt are available - Raw & Instant Isomalt. Here I have used instant Isomalt which is very easy to melt under low flame or microwave.

Hi dear , I have seen in many vedios that we require thermometer for isomalt work ... but u have not used it ... can I do isomalt work without thermometer ... I m
New to use isomalt
For Instant Isomalt, you don't need a thermometer, you can easily melt it in low flames or microwave. For working with Raw Isomalt you need thermometer but now a days, you get instant Isomalt in the market. Hope it's clear for you.

Sugar will be unstable and very sticky.

Yes, it is perfect for geode cakes
How to know whether isomalt is raw or instant, as it's not labelled. If it's raw , it is necessary to have thermometer?
Normally the package will have the instructions on how to use it. Yes, if its raw you need to have a thermometer to heat to the required temperature. But in case of instant Isomalt you just need to melt it and use.

Isomalt is available in almost all baking supplies stores. You can melt sugar, but sugar will turn yellowish and will be very sticky in humid conditions.
