Your patience is honestly amazing, when I was an apprentice it felt like the person “teaching” me expected me to listen once and never forget, and if I made 1 mistake he’d make me feel thick
Seeing you give this young fella a chance is proper nice to see. I ain’t too young myself and I’m only just starting out in life due to event after event. It ain’t easy and chances don’t come often but you’ve made it a lot easier for this young guy
Whether the customer says don't bother, always bother. Put down sheets, cut outside. Also have breakfast before you leave the house. Im 62, i have breakfast at 530.
My first thought was “why on earth are they using a wet cutter on the carpet”, my second was “that is set out wrong”, thankfully you did advise later in the video that the customer didn’t want a full tile in the centre, which I would advise against. Friendly advice going forward, that ready mix adhesive is 3x wrong for that application. Ready mix is not suitable for floor, standard. Its only suitable for a maximum size 300x300mm area ceramic wall tile, which is why pro tilers only ever use it for small format kitchen splashbacks or something like that. Thirdly, that adhesive is not suitable in a log burner/fireplace application. I would recommend giving some powdered adhesive a try in this situation, you’d be able to grout same day if you used rapid, but obviously need to be quick and thats not ideal if you’re teaching someone on the job. Get yourself a decent stainless notch trowel too… we normally cerate floors with a 12mm notch, then backbutter with the smooth side of the trowel to get a full coverage. Thanks for the vid
I think we all had a moment like Tyler when trying to figure out HOW ON EARTH are you supposed to find the right measurement. You're staring right at the solution yet you can't see it. And once you see it you're just thinking "oh god.... how stupid am I" He's still learning so he's got an excuse tho :D Great video as usual
We need to take the time to teach what we know to other's or knowledge will be lost...... further more not everyone learns first time around, I think the patience and time and fun you give to your apprentice is fantastic. Good for you how we treat each other is important 🙂👍
@TTDOWG Carpentry looks like its paying off though mate, found your channel recently as I'm doing an evening carpentry course (labourer by day), and he's come on leaps and bounds from the vids I've seen so far 🙌
Ive got to admit I struggled with things like this as an apprentice. It’s a good job I had a patient teacher too! 😂. It’s easy looking on when you know. But if you don’t know it’s all double Dutch.
You are the complete opposite of the tradesman I had. I had a total arsehole so after getting pissed off with his attitude all the time, I booted the shite out of him in a customers bedroom😂
I thoroughly enjoy your program keep up the great work. The apprentice needs to wear a seatbelt and gloves when taking things to the skip but apart from that really great stuff.
Been watching you a few weeks now pal and your work is brilliant but with this one I’d have cantered a full tile and worked from that would have been easier
Nice little try out, he have to stay awake next time, I’ve would have used a ground sheet no matter what the customer said it’s just good practice especially when training someone hav you send him for a pound of glass nails or along stand yet 😂 👍👍👍👍💤💤💤
not to nit pick but the middle tile is slightly set back and not in line with front would catch my eye as OCD will the customer be trimming it ? , To be honest i would have rather gone with 1 piece of stone if this was my place but budget and all i guess
Love channel & want to get into this career. What’s it called when can do everything like you eg doors, flooring etc. is there a job title for this? I don’t know first steps to get started as a apprentice
Hey bro great Vid!! Is this the council sites skip? Do you find they’re expensive or quite reasonable? Trying to find a new source of waste for our business Thanks 🙏🏼
How come there are no dust sheets as builder 😢I always use them even uf the customer told me he was changing carpet I would still drag me dust sheets of the my van my mate did the same thing and the customer sued for new carpets never belive what people say to you been in this trade a long time
When owners say carpet/tiles/laminate is coming out so no need for dust sheets, I still use sheets because it looks more professional and most of all its less cleaning to do at end, and the carpet patch marks just make job not look so good.
How to destroy a decent carpet - that is someones Home - bit late now though. Obviously you didnt get kicked out. Training an apprentice the wrong way.
Sorry but this apprentice has to be the laziest, simplest individual I've ever seen. Should be nowhere near a Jobsite for his own and everyone else's safety.
Bless you for taking this young man in and teaching him a trade, making the world better brother.
Your patience is honestly amazing, when I was an apprentice it felt like the person “teaching” me expected me to listen once and never forget, and if I made 1 mistake he’d make me feel thick
Welcome to the building trade😭
Better off being an apprentice for a small fledgling business like this, less time orientated for sure.
I feel like that’s how construction is tbh it kinda sucks in a way.
Because he was a bad teacher probs a in secure bloke you get alot of bosses but a true leader will teach

Shut up kev
it isnt his trade but i do agree he shouldve done a bit of research before hand to ensure his quality of work
Haha, my thought as well that cutter on the carpet was wild xD

that is very true , thankyou for your kind words
This video made me laugh- really good of you to take the time to encourage and tutor a young apprentice. 😁👍
This kid is soo lucky to have the opportunity to learn and he’s just taking the piss, what a shame
He’s come a long way since this well done to the apprentice
Man, that was painful ahha
Respect for your patience though, I've seen people fly off the handle at the apprentice for a lot less 🤙
😂😂😂 patience is key

Thankyou I appreciate your comment and I will let the apprentice to make sure he wears seatbelt and ppe

Dry cutting in the living room !😮
His changing the flooring so he told us to cut there
I know this is an older video but. I would recommend putting down something to protect flooring of any kind.
If you watch the whole video, he did disclose that the customer carpet if coming out. He would normally put down a protective sheet.
@@cubitme I made the comment before seeing that part but once i realized that I felt like an idiot. My apologies.
I stillhave one of those little tile saws, bought it like twnety years ago at Harbor Freight Tools!
got mine of my grandad aha
These kids... they need to ban videogames serious, they got the attention span of a canary
God you have patience I thought his fingers were off at one stage.Painful.

😂😂😂 not yet
Why don’t you use dust sheets? Always sheet up before you start any job
Standard

Great Video lads
Thanks matey I appreciate it
Nice job mate
I started in Monterey CA. My Sicilian tile crew I mix goat urine in thinset to bless the Sicilian tile Gods. Careful what you wish for!.
Love channel & want to get into this career. What’s it called when can do everything like you eg doors, flooring etc. is there a job title for this? I don’t know first steps to get started as a apprentice
I guess it would either be multi skills trades person or skilled handy man
Jack of all trade's
@@timbrooks2763 Master of none
Well done that wasn't easy.
Or screed it and install wet lay method so it’s done in one go, must be trained differently in the UK

How would someone apply for an apprenticeship? Im 20 and I need to get something going for me
tyrell messed up the other tile didnt he🤣he had to re do it on a new tile but its good though at least he's learning keep it up
🤣🤣🤣 You noticed, yep his still learning

I'd of put a full tile in the centre and then had a cut either end still would of looked cymetrical
That middle tile is defo set back a touch you can see it’s not in line at the front
Hope the apprentice gets some of the money made from these videos!
Cap he gotta make his own youtube account for that
Never mind showing him how to tile , i hope the customer is replacing the carpet as you never even covered the floor for protection .
Nice dustsheets
Yep it covers the whole room and it’s a little hard to see on camera
😅 we did bring out dust sheets but the customer said it don’t matter because his changing carpet next week
Apprentice is lacking in common sense 🤣
Talking the piss big time that kid
Di bwoy lazy nuh rarse😂
Not sure there's much hope for that lad
All these guys saying he should use dust sheets in the comments didn’t watch the full video.
At 11:15,i'm dead🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇵🇰🇵🇰
The young guy is smarter than he looks coz he grabbed the angle finder coz the wall cuts at angle
Good video but apprentice been used to much
Is this carpenter
Why did you not cover that rug anytime brother please cover them floors yes his carpet was nasty but please don’t add to it
😂😂 as I’ve got my dust sheet out the Customer said “it doesn’t matter I’m changing the carpet”
@@ttdowgcarpentry2390 always get that in writing because many changes their mind while you are working
No floor Protector? Wtf u doing bro haha
Early shifts killing the apprentice i think

is this your son?
nope i’m 24 😅
his 16
How to destroy a decent carpet - that is someones Home - bit late now though. Obviously you didnt get kicked out. Training an apprentice the wrong way.
He said it’s being replaced
That was painful to watch you should have worked from the center . either cutting the length of all three to balance it if need be.
Why not sheet up the furniture and tv if the telly don’t work profit from job down the toilet
as we was going to The customer told us it doesn’t matter because he’s changing the carpet and furniture
Your apprentice clearly isn't interested in the work. I'd find a new one.
He’s vastly improved simply here to be fair
Sorry but this apprentice has to be the laziest, simplest individual I've ever seen. Should be nowhere near a Jobsite for his own and everyone else's safety.
Normally you start in the middle 😜
Then cross (brick) pattern behind
Should of tiled the little lip around the front of the fire place
£5 for a large sheet of floor protector etc !!! But no. the carpets fine. No matter what a client tells you
as we was taken out our dust sheet for Customer said it doesn’t matter because he’s changing the carpet and furniture
@@ttdowgcarpentry2390 never believe them and tell then its not a professional look !
100% Agree never trust at word value some people will say that then put in a claim against you for a new carpet once the job is complete
