      @@themacocko6311 that's not true. Side sleeping or modified fowlers are really effective. Flat stomach / back are the only positions that are contraindicated for breathing and circulation. It's not about sleep experts, it's about mattress manufactures that have (incorrectly) sold "spine posture" as the goal.

      @@YOGABODY.OfficialI actually sleep quite a lot on my back since I found out how to do it "properly".
      Right pillow height for the neck, with support on the neck and another small pillow (or folded towel/blanket) under my back(supporting the Arch) and one more under my legs above the knees (lifting them slightly).
      That way I manage to sleep like a log (and no breathing issues).
      For side sleeping.
      A higher pillow (same conditions).
      A pillow also below the body (between the hip and 1st floating rib).
      A pillow between the knees.
      A pillow between the ankles.
      That doesn't contradict what you said, but can be a way to deal with some of the issues and help the body .
      🙏
      Pls feel free to explain what I just said with better words! 😂🤣🤭
      Thanks for your great work!

    Actually sleeping on your back is best, but a lot of people can't breathe in this position because of their pillow, posture (mouth breathing), or their craniofacial anatomy. If you are actually optimizing for health, the correct recommendation should be to address the underlying issues that makes sleeping on your back not ideal for you.

      Sleeping on your back is unnatural. Many studies observing the sleeping positions of different primates and tribes have shown that humans and primates instinctively sleep on their side. Also, if you fall asleep on your back, you don’t stay on your back the whole night, so there isn’t much point in trying to fall asleep on your back (you’ll roll around while sleeping to prevent blood clots). Although I do agree that facial structure plays a big role in sleep apnea.

    Personal anecdote!
    Back sleeping has actually benefitted me, although was tough to transition to for the same reasons explained in this video. I grew up sleeping on my stomach as it felt the most comfortable. Back sleeping was a whole new world for me. But after some nights of bad sleep, my body adjusted to the new position and I actually wake up feeling better.
    1) I use to wake up feeling really sore. Especially around my neck and shoulders. At the beginning of back sleeping, it didn’t get any better, but after a few months, it did subside as my body adjusted.
    2) I had mild sleep apnea, waking up once in a while catching my throat close up on me in the middle of the night. And once I started back sleeping, didn’t get any better as well. Obviously with time, and doing things like mouth taping and learning how to mew, my airway has opened more allowing me to sleep nice and sound on my back. This has now also led to better breathing throughout the day as well.

    Sleeping on your back will get you beat up by the paralysis people

    • @Jota-rc8yq
      @Jota-rc8yq 7 місяців тому +2

      True, sleeping on your back does cause sleep paralysis but there’s a way to avoid it. The trick is to not have your arms resting on top of your torso while you sleep, like mummies have them crossed over the chest, stomach, or abdomen. Instead you have to keep them on your sides, parallel to your torso or extended away from your body so that they are not putting pressure on your organs while you sleep because this is what contributes to the paralysis.

    Yep I agree about the back thing. Years ago I was given a sleeping tablet by a doctor and slept on my back. Was a horrid sensation an artificial sleep that didnt refresh me once I had woken up but worse part was a sensation/possibly dream that I had stopped breathing and woke up suddenly in panic. I dont know if I did stop breathing I was slender then but asthmatic so apparently doctor should never have given me a sleeping tablet as hazardous .
    Since then I always sleep on a firm pillow on my side. I have never experienced any problems in that position. But recently I decided my posture needed improvement as I seem to have developed a slouch probably due to work or fact I am too heavy. Many videos say you shouldn’t sleep on side if you wish to improve this so attempting to research topic and find solutions. Think like most things in life its probably going to be multiple strategises to fix or reduce issue of poor posture. Get flexible, increase strength in key areas, loose excess weight for multiple reasons and find a good sleeping position maybe with a small knee pillow etc and also eat a healthy diet of sardines and avoid hyper processed foods.
    Thanks for reminding me sleeping on your back not a good idea 😊

    Is good to sleep on your back, the reason why people have their air way obstructed is because their jaw is very protruded. by practicing mewing the jaw goes forward, i recommend closing the teeth.

    Isn’t it just when sleeping on a “western” usually foamy mattress and bed with a high pillow/s, causing the head go forward? Which generally is not healthy? For floor/hard surface sleepers, the back is the best position to start with since the side is not as easy to adjust to (1 week in practisting, so I know😂)

    • @YOGABODY.Official
      @YOGABODY.Official  Рік тому +1

      In Savasana, you're still awake (conscious state) and actively focusing on your breathing in this pose. In comparison to sleeping, you're unconscious and your body is automatically breathing.
