I had no interest in track and field or cross country until I came across Katelyn Tuohy race last year in a college competition at Oregon. Now I watch every race she competes in! What a LEGEND!!!!
I totally agree. She was where she was because that's where she wanted to be. And PV knew that she better be as FAR ahead as she could be or,,,,, KT would do exactly what she did. She simply reeled her in and won her race. OUTSTANDING! :)
It was no accident - she and the coach decided to let PV go, and coach (its online somewhere) said don't leave it later than km5 to chase - in the race Tuohy thought the gap was too large much earlier and started soon after the 3rd K to work away from the pack and got serious in the 4k.
'The Greatest come-from-behind' - Please don't do this to this rising star. Until now, it has not been Katelyn's style to brag. It would be enough to say what we all witnessed, i.e., it was a great come from behind performance. I have great respect for Katelyn. Her accomplishments point to a person dedicated to Track and Field. It is not possible to run like she has been running without being consistent with her training and dedicated to the sport. On all of her interviews, she remains humble and respectfully acknowledges her many competitors and teammates. Indeed, the 2022 NCAA XCountry Championship was quite a race and an outstanding accomplishment. As she has stated, she carried out her race plan and was able fulfill what we all knew she was capable of. I hope that the people who want to see Katelyn and all of our young athletes achieve all they are capable of achieving do not muddy their journey with unnecessary hype. Congratulations to you Katelyn. I look forward to your continued participation and growth in Track and Field and XCountry.
I agree that the number of spectators running across the track is a HUGE PROBLEM AND RISK. It is very obvious that the management 🙄 is at fault and NOT IN CONTROL. The solution is easy, get COMPETENT RACE ORGANIZERS!!!
KT was running with such strength..pv was laboring as she went out too fast..I think..kt loves them hills..such strong running in her form..just a beast
Oooohhh, I'd check out Pre's 1973 NCAA Championship race. He was probably down by 100 yards or more at halfway and managed regroup and cover the gap on Nick Rose by the end. No doubt, this WAS an epic race by Katelyn, and she did manage to make up the gap in only about the last 1200m or so. Exceptional race.
@@nancysuttles2044 That used to be against the rules. When did that change? It would have been a real shame for both Tuohy and NC State to lose national championships because a non-competitor did something stupid.
@@katelyntuohyfans Now I had to watch it for the 14th time. :) Did you pick up the fact that her arms were still parallel with her body while everyone else's were all over the place. Such strength.
Is anyone else stressed out by the people on the side walking on the course and crossing it during the race? It's not that hard to stand 2 feet further back
Question...why does Tuohy display "horns" when she wins a race? Last i checked, wolves did not have any horns. Is she trying to represent the ears of a wolf???
Agree with Tony Lombardi below. KT knew exactly what she was doing (and capable of). "Greatest come from behind win in NCAA"...??? Please. KT ran a great race. Never looked like she was struggling.
Technically a "come-from-behind", yes, but KT's strategy was masterful. She kept with the pack as long as necessary to keep her team together for the team win and when she had accomplished that, she hunted down PV and blew by her. KT knows her own capabilities and those of PV and knew that PV couldn't out kick her. KT had more in reserve at the end, but PV was spent. PV ran the best race that she could, but despite her coach's accomplishments as a runner, he's not as savvy a coach as Hennes. PV should consider getting a new coach.
Your "greatest come-from-behind win" is quite condescending towards Katelyn to say the least. It implies that she was, at some stage, losing. However, at no stage during the race was she in any difficulty. She ran an extremely mature race. Always in control. Always winning, even if she wasn't always placed first.
Both are outstanding runners, what a great race.
KT has the heart of a champion she is on the road to setting world records her fans are in for wonderful things out of this courageous lady.
Hopefully our next Olympic 5K team but they're going to make each other better good job to all the girls...
I just can't get enough of watching her run
Both races were EPIC!!!
Amazing race. Congrats to all runners who competed!
Katelyn Tuohy seems to run so smoothly and effortlessly. Hope to see her in international competitions.
Both great runners. Not sure if was a come-from-behind as much as two runners running their own strategy. Touhy is a machine!!
Katelyn is truly amazing! 🤗
Followed her for years, great things ahead.🥇🥇🥇

You should go back in history and watch some Mary Decker and Steve Prefontaine- she shares their competitive DNA!
@@tullymox Oh, I will definitely check them out! Thank you for the advice 🥰
Yup. Kt is a machine..utter magnificence
Katelyn ran such a great race. She timed her last attack almost perfectly. I'm so proud of her and her team! Go State!
K.T. was "behind" P.V. but very much in control of her race.
Tuohy knew exactly what she was doing, all apart of her strategy.
GO K.T.!

well planned take over, had her right where she wanted her
More than a few people predicted this sequence of events
Grandes atletas y Ketelyn está en un nivel tremendo.
When training, guts, and determination come together you get KT,. She is a national star who represents the best in us

I agree 👍 💯
The number of spectators on/crossing the course as they run really bothers me. Congrats to Katelyn.

Don’t forget how heroic it is to come in 9th not 10th.
Катя, как всегда на высоте, браво!
Кэтлин Туху - вы королева !
"She's the bomb???ugh." Katelyn being Katelyn. Heart of a li...wolf🐺. Really enjoyed watching this special...special student athlete. 🤘 #250 = 1st.
That was one tough journey - Katelyn said she was going to red line and did.
I don’t understand why they call it come from behind. Katelyn just executed her game plan, ran her race. She was never really behind
"The Jaws music is playing in the background" 🤣
should i edit it 😂
Grit along with passion and resolve. Fun~
Great race. I can't help but wonder what would have happened if Kelsey had gone with Katelyn.
Tuohy and Kelsey would have been first and second.
Красавица.

I love KT but this vid could have been 5 seconds longer to show Katlins teammate Chmiel take 3rd.

I agree. We should begin putting Steve Prefontaine and Katelyn Tuohy in the same conversation, two great NCAA champions.
Was that KT's coach in the black jacket running beside KT at the end to give her feedback?
Nope! One of her Wolfpack teammates who obviously wasn’t running in the race.
@@nancysuttles2044 That used to be against the rules. When did that change? It would have been a real shame for both Tuohy and NC State to lose national championships because a non-competitor did something stupid.
oh my gosh she had me on pins and needles when I was watching this race live. Kathlyn is baller! She did amazing!
Now we know why runners are intimidated by Katelyn Tuohy. She gone. 🏃♀️💨💨💨
Steady Mobbin
Greatness!
Katelyn is the best! 👍
Awesome!!!
KT said in a pre race interview that she loves hills.
He said later that no runner loves hills.
Obviously he does not know this young lady.
show him 3:11

Have you seen footage from 3km to 4.6km - I haven't seen Katelyn breaking away from the pack? PS. WHat a great race!!
its on espn but i dont have espn
The full race is on the “NCAA Championships” UA-cam page.
Just realized that they are missing 3 mins of the race in that video.
Touhy the Terminator!
It's clear who the badass is

Yup, challenge the Katelyn Tuohy and lose, sorry. Congrats to her team too. NC State is a strong team effort. So fun to watch.
Your a my sister great Runner🏃 ♥👍
good for you Katelyn cheers to the wolfpack and all the other runners🤟🍀
Question...why does Tuohy display "horns" when she wins a race? Last i checked, wolves did not have any horns. Is she trying to represent the ears of a wolf???
I asked that Q a few vids back and got the answer it has something to with their wolfpack motto
That was one kick-ass ‘gear shift’ by Tuoy at the end of that race. They really should have played the Jaws music!

I don't think it was a 'come from behind win',people pretty much knew who would win all along! Good job pacing yourself Katelyn!
wasnt really a "come from behind" win...Touhy paced just behind the lead intentionally and then put into place her gameplan at the end of the race....
What would happen if Katelyn ran with her eyes closed?
Yo kameron tony is a man lol

This may be the most erroneous headline ever. KT ran her strategy. Running up hill is the secret.
Why don’t they run a 10k like the men’s race?
The word lose is not in her vocabulary
We will see another awesome race in two weeks 👍💪🦵
