Don't ever buy polishing compound in those litte plastic pots from Ch---, they put a tiny amount of compound in them if any at all just wax, i know from experience, Dialux is a great polishing compound green is exelent for steel finishing. Cool project.

Heating it 1st would soften it to make it easier then just do a edge quench using a butane torch, then anneal.

Metal cutting disk. Grinding stone. Sanding drum. Buffing drum wheel. All that's in a basic kit.
