    this worked pretty well (and was very useful, with popcorn being readily available here as opposed to regular dried corn)! thanks a lot for the insight!
    but man, this thing is hard, it took 5 good days for it to get just a little bit softer.

    You actually did a good job wow. Thanks for always sharing your experiments with us. Please wanted to know if i buy fresh corn, and dry it up during the summer. Then during the fall take it out of the cob and follow the same process, do you think it will be okay?

    I found out a method that is far easier. Just buy corn flour and soak for 3 to 4 days and ur Akaum is ready. No need to sieve or blend and u get the unique sourness of Akamu with it. I am not talking about the refined cornflour in tins o. U could also use cornmeal but because it is coarse u will have to blend thoroughly and or sieve and u av ur Akamu.

      Jelilat Adebayo i prefer the corn flour, u can add ginger to the cornflour while soaking it...to bring out the sour taste.

      It sounds easy right? I have a video for how I use corn flour to make this but there are still people who cannot buy the fine corn flour where they live and they keep asking for this popcorn experiment and my opinion on it.

    I haven't seen any of your videos before but now I'm hooked. I am glad you tried this popcorn akamu but I am disappointed with the low yield. Do you think coarsely ground corn meal (like for making Southern cornbread) can be used? It's made from regular corn so it should have more starch, abi? Thanks!

    can I use my normal blender to grind normal maize for Akamu ( because the conventional grinder is not available where i am), but the maize is available

    • @FloChinyere
      @FloChinyere  6 років тому

      Yes, use a kitchen blender but to be safe, make sure the blender has at least 500W power. After soaking, pop corn is harder than normal akamu corn and this kitchen blender did a good job of blending it. This blender has 850W power though. Watch the following video where I prepared the akamu with the normal corn for akamu: ua-cam.com/video/BW8V3V0kFcQ/v-deo.html

Pleas can you show us what we can add to make this pap have a sour taste to the kind of corn we have around us in US... it doesn't tastes sour like Nigerian corn, I have done it so many times at homes with no taste, but if you buy from Nigeria's stores it has the taste and if you ask the makers what they add to make it sour, they don't want to tell your, just same African mentality, not knowing they can make money nowadays with their ideas.. please help me if you can , thanks
