When buying a Hobie Pro Angler or any other kayak, you will need to think about storage and transportation. There are many ways to load and transport your kayak. You will need to read up and think about the best method for you!
Here's why I prefer to load my Hobie Pro Angler on my roof rack:
1. I fish backcountry lakes where the roads tend to be harsh on trailers.
2. I like to camp in my truck and don't want to have my Kayak taking up valuable space.
3. Most people told me it couldn't be done!
If you have any questions about this video, don't hesitate to get in touch with me! Cradle dimensions are coming soon!

This is the smartest, most efficient and cost effective method i've seen for getting a big hobie on a car. GREAT JOB!!!!
Glad I could help! Have a good summer!
Nice.....good luck in your tournaments!
Great job. Currently looking at roof racks or rales to take a HOBIE PA14 on my jeep wrangler. This looks very manageable for me to make .
Fantastic video!
Good video Mig and i love the truck 👌
Thanks man! I’ve done it long enough with my little Kia. It was time for an upgrade. See you out on the water!
Great idea thanks for the insight great job.

Great video Mig. I need to make a cradle now.
Thanks Dwayne! You’ve got the bars, so the rest will be a breeze! Cheers my friend.
Great idea the pvc cradle.
Thanks for watching!
Great instructional vid Mig👊🏼. I just used a sweater shirt or towel for sliding my rig up top but it never stays in place, never thought of the yoga mat.
I’ve had that issue also. Thanks for your comment! Cheers man!
I was about to use 2×4's but glad to see your pvc rack. It will be much lighter on my cap.
I’m glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Vraiment bonne video
Merci Antoine!
Allo mr. Sigouin
Thanks good stuff would love to see your garage pulley system. My wife owns almost everything in the garage tour system looks like the answer
Lol happy wife happy life. I have a video of my pulley system on my page. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video. I would like a little more details about the pvc pipe set-up
8 feet long with 2 " pvc. Flip your kayak upside down and custom fit the cradle to your haul!
Hi Mig, nice informative video. Very cool solution to transport the Hobie. What is the brand and model of the roof rack you have on your truck cap??
Yakima jetstream.
Thanks for watching.
If your cradle had wheels or rollers on top of it so bottom of boat rolls onto it
Awesome vid! Could you have made the pvc cradle come down further so you wouldn’t need the mat?
I suppose it could be done! I had my cradle before getting my Yakima bars, so it could be improved. But in all honesty, this is really easy to load. Thanks for your comment! Cheers
I love that pvc idea I have a sun roof and afraid I'll break the windows out.
I have friends hauling PA,s with civics. Thanks for watching. Have a safe season on the water!
Super good idea.
Do you still rate the hobbie pa14?
Looking at that or either titan.
Great Kayak! No complaints at all. Cheers
Loved your cradle solution to what we are told: “you can’t really car-top that Hobie!” Lol. Can you tell us the dimensions/ parts for the cradle?
Hello Brett, I hope I’m not too late. I will send you exact dimensions soon.
Flip your boat upside down and fit your pvc to your boat. You will know precisely the dimensions you need. Cheers!
Great video thanks a lot could you give me dimensions for your cradle please thanks again
Great video. What make are the roof racks?
Yakima! Came factory installed on my truck cap. yakima.com/products/jetstream?_ga=2.226773019.708326265.1619450065-985158835.1619450065
What is the width pipe to pipe of the PVC and how long did you make it? It is a great idea. Thank you for sharing.
His is 8 feet long with 2 " pvc. Flip your kayak upside down and custom fit the cradle to your hull!
I would like to build the PVC tube thing- do you have rough dimensions or could you point me to the right place?
Hey Mark, I suggest flipping your kayak upside down and laying your PVC pipe on the bottom. You will have the perfect fit. Rough estimate is 2 x 8'.
It looks hard. Have you tried adding a winch to your current setup? You can put the winch in your front bumper.
Need to work a little bit, but it works!
did you remove the rudder before loading?
No need to remove it as it’s tucked in.
Where are the dimensions? I can’t locate. Thx
Can you tell us the dimensions/ parts for the cradle?
8 feet long by 8 inches wide.
What are the dimensions for building that cradle?
8 feet long by 8 inches wide
What is the length you made it
8'

On veux d’écouter de la guitare Miguel!
Éric, je vais mettre de la guitare dans mon prochain vidéo... Juste pour toi! Cheers!
Man I got tired just watching 😆 What if you back your truck under your hanging mount in your garage and just lower the boat on top when you head out?
Yes that works also! But I wanted to show the "tough" part of loading it ! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Taking all the gear off before you do this must be a pain
Not bad! It all depends what you want to do.
seems like a lot of work. but guess if it works for you.
It’s really not that bad! Remember, every method has it’s pros and cons. You’re right, this one works for me! Thanks for watching and commenting.
