Don't forget that the creator deleted his own movie off his computer because he needed more disk space for the next one.
Chad director shot a movie during a civil war
Like famous artists of old painting over their works because they had no money for another canvas!
Pablo Escobar had to burn money to accomodate more of it. Same energy.
I’m not sure if that’s funny or sad
And then a power surge destroyed the hard drive anyway
No joke, this movie has an incredible production story if you watch the extras. The director sold everything he owns plus all the bricks he manufactured just buy a decent camera, and built his editing computer out of scraps. Even with the helicopter scene he based it of when he was ACTUALLY running from an attack chopper shooting at him during the Ugandan civil war.
Despite all these barriers, not to mention the electrical difficulties and lack of clean drinkable water, he managed to make a fantastic and entertaining movie.
Screw Hollywood, Wakaliwood is a true inspiration to filmmakers everywhere 🇺🇬 ❤️
Wakaliwood forever, VJ Emmie is the best narrator.
If anyone thinks that Who Killed Captain Alex is anything other than a fucking testament to the human spirit, and proof that anyone can chase their dream, I have no idea what to tell them.
Totally ❤️
Is he doing alright these days?
No kidding, this man shows more heart and devotion to his pasion for filmmaking than most hollywood directors nowadays.
Fun fact. The Video Jokah is still doing stuff. He also is wishing everyone stays safe during the Pandemic.
Based Lad.
where can I see his content?
you can’t just say “VJ Emmie is still doing stuff” and NOT link it

This film is legit the best. It’s just a bunch of people with barely any budget or resources at all, just a man who wanted to make a cool action movie with a computer he made out of spare parts.
He's probably now the most famous movie maker in Uganda
@@lionheart6176 yea!
it's legitimately an earnest loveletter to the purest sort of moviemaking. a bunch of friends running around filming an action story for the sheer JOY of it, kicking and hollering and having the grandest of times
@@smcb9979 It's really contagious. On an intellectual and technical level, this movie is terrible, But on meta level, you understand that this movie was made for fun and for the love of it's community. It touching.
@Code Turtle Glad you mention that. This film is a true rabbit hole of inspiration!
Joel plays classic masterpiece to unsuspecting audience, 2021 colorized.
I hope he will watch "Bad Black " sometime with Chat. That's the newest one & also great.
Also I'd be surprised if most of Chat didn't know Wakaliwood Movies or at least recgonized some of the Quotes in the Movie. It's impossible not to know some Phrases like "Action is coming", "Gwa Gwa Gwa" "Commando!" or "They call him Bruce U!" while also being a Twitch User for a while
Joel has talked about them a few Times as well and even showed a few Scenes of Who killed Captain Alex on Stream before
Anyway, Hope he will watch "Bad Black" with Chat during his next Flight to... wait...
Now that he went to Brazil, where else is there to go?
@@chartreux1532 Oh yes, Bad Black is legit good, and not even in a fully "so-bad-it's-good" way, there's some quality there.
Hope he'll ALSO watch "2016" oneday
Sus
I love how the video DJ does Joel’s job for him
This movie has always made me wish that there were video jackers for American films
@@poopa_stinka Could be a new industry

The fact this guy made a movie from nothing with no budget in the middle of a civil war is inspiring and incredible
EDIT: It was not made in a civil war, but was inspired by the director's experience in it, ty commenters
That is the type of thing a dad would say just to tell you that there is no reason to not do your homework.
Uganda hasn’t been in a civil war since the late 80s and is one of the more stable countries in Africa.
@@ShrivledAlienLol I’m almost 100% sure that the Civil War info is a big piece of miss-info but it could have been made during the Allied Democratic Forces insurgency, though, yes Uganda is pretty stable in most areas.
it wasn't during the civil war, parts of the movie were based off his experiences during the civil war, hope this helps :)
i love that half the sounds and things the video joker says just sounds like something that'd come out of Joel's mouth anyway
I absolutely love how Joel watches “who killed Captain Alex” while his planes on a crash collision corse to absolute oblivion
Who killed Captain Fren?
VJ EMMIE IS DA BEST OF DA BEST
I just remembered an interesting fact:
in the first days of filming, they used cow's blood, but as a result, several actors fell ill and they had to pause.
When the actors recovered and filming resumed, the blood was replaced with food coloring.
Say what you want but the fact that the producer never expected anyone outside of his village to see this movie is just amazing.
That is some serious passion and dedication.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't jealous, since I lack both traits.
I love how this stream is basically just two layers of VJ. Emmie and Joel!
I love the VJ thing so much, it's like a Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode built right into the movie itself.
He played "Who Killed Captain Alex?" rather than "Who Killed Catpain Alex". Kinda want to see the Catpain movie.
What's that movie?
@@mslabo102s2 Joel misspelled "Captain" in his title
it's still catpain
Live update: catpain still happening.
"the catpain movie" just sounds like an hour of animal abuse
17:00 sounded like the film was actively mocking Joel's laugh
I legitimately love this movie, despite the conditions they managed to provide an entertaining experience
The fight scenes are really great, the coreography is great, it's quick and snappy, there's a real physicality to everything, and it's very readable. It's incredible how this film shits all over what hollywood and the television industry shart out. I hope we can get these guys a computer with tons of storage space, because these films deserve to be in the Library of Congress. Delete everything else, replace it with copies of Captain Alex.
I would love to see what this guy could do with a decent budget. Has he ever started a Kickstarter? This movie has a pretty big cult following and I don't think he'd have any problem raising at least 25k, maybe more.
Wakaliwood has actually gotten quite a bit of outside support by now, I believe, someone filmed a documentary about their moviemaking process and I'm pretty sure Wakaliga village has a proper water filtration system now, which is f*cking radical. This guy is supporting his ENTIRE VILLAGE by making movies
Wakaliwood has a Patreon.
The red shirt guy was the true MVP of this movie
Who Killed Captain Alex deserves an Oscar
No
It deserves _The_ Oscar
HOLY SHIT YESSSS BRO I HAVE THE DVD THEY HAVE IT SIGNED WITH "FAIZ YOU KILLED CAPTAIN ALEX" I FUCKING LOVE IT
That bit at the beginning - when Captain Alex says "i prefer men" when the woman asked him to marry her - was very controversial at the time. Homosexuality was and still is taboo and illegal in Uganda for religious reasons
Absolute masterpiece from every angle
So you're telling me that this movie is better politically than any Disney movie?
timestamp?
was that in the actual movie or was it just the video dj tho? i hope catpain alex is based...
Truly, a director breaking boundaries.
Ain't no pain like Catpain. RIP Alex.
im laughing at the beginning where captain alex is like: "nah I prefer men" and joel loses it
This is unironically better than most 100 million dollar budget movies that get pumped out these days.
This movie is so wholesome when you learn the making of it.
Who Killed Captain Alex? We may never know, but this movie is awesome!
Watching Captain Alex with Joel was the best experience I've ever had.
Wakaliwood needs more attention, they make fantastic features!
I've now seen the entirety of Wakaliwood's "Who killed Captain Alex?" 4 times. My family loves this movie.
I like how in uganda they pay for that person in the back of the movie theater
I feel like this is the kind of occasion where capturing Chat would be a very good idea.
Honestly, how has Joel watched this multiple times yet he doesn't know who captain Alex is? The story isn't hard to follow or anything
:?
He has the attention span of a juicy grasshopper
I think joel meant like what did captain alex do to become famous since you don't really know who captain alex is as a person since they get murdered
Interesting fact about this movie: The guy being chased by the helicopter and shot at was based on the director being flown after by a helicopter and shot at in the civil war.
this is so fucking meta. joel is commentating the commentator. it's like sci fi theater squared.
also i always knew about this movie and a lot of the lore behind it but have never watched the whole thing until now.
I'm so glad this got highlighted 😆 I was concerned it might've been something he'd have to cut out. My favourite quote (so far as I didn't finish it) is "The walk slow because they think slow"
This is all homegrown.
Truly inspirational.
hollywood has absolutely nothing on this beautiful masterpiece from Uganda
This stream wasn’t the first time I saw Who killed Captain Alex, but it was the stream which convinced me to buy it on DVD.
There's like three movies in one here -the main one, the "VJ" parody movie, and then Joel's in-flight movie one. All three movies are playing at the exact same time, cutting into each other and interrupting the flow of narrative in its process. This is trippy.
Thank you jobel for having a separate vid for this
EVERYONE IN UGANDA KNOWS KUNG FU
not gonna lie for some extremely odd reason this feels like an actual documentary filmed in the early 2000s
This stream was the best birthday I ever had.
minor spoilers but if you see Bad Black, you get to see who killed Captain Alex
The Metal Gear spinoff everyone needed, but Konami refused
Joel you HAVE to watch bad black, its even more action packed movie. Ugandan Swarzeneggar, swaaz.
I watched this movie multiple times before Joel watched it with us and I never realized that this is where the "What the fu-" (45:04) meme came from.
i loved this more than i thought i would
First learnt about the movie's existence from IHE. Watching it was a blessing
THE STREAM IS ON!
WHAT'S HAPPENING?!
HELLO
that alien shooter bgm on 9:23 brings back so many memories
Woaw. I figured Catpain would be fixed already but it's all whiskers up from here.
The chaingunner is a vampire hunter.
Its like the Nailgun from Quake.
Cept it fires Stakes
Is this what the fabled Vineyard is like?
"Who Killed Captain Alex?" is a question synonymous to "Who Shot Johnny Joestar?" 😂
Who Killed Captain Alex?
Who Shot Johnny Joestar?
.
.
.
WHO KILLED MR. BURNS?
Fun fact: All the actors appear skilled in the Kung-Fu action scenes because in Uganda, Kung fu tournaments are commonly held for people to participate in
I'm sad that Red Letter Media missed the chance to watch this gem during one of their more recent plinketto vids.
One day they will run out of Neil Breen movies to use in case of emergency, then it will be this DVD behind breakable glass.
Starting to regret heading to bed. I missed some good stuff.
EVERYONE IN BRAZIL KNOWS KUNG FU
I'm Brazilian and you aren't lying
*DROP UR COOKIE NOW-*
But seriously, thank you for showing the Best of the Best Movie on that flight~

The peak of cinema.
This was such a journey. thank you for showing me this joel
Epic video!
VARGSKELETHOR!
was hoping you would eventually stream this movie! thanks Joel!!!!!!
Big fan of you and this film! so much fun.
This video has been in my Watch Later for damn near a month and I only just now noticed the title is misspelled
Dude A: ::hump hump::
Dude B: "Get off my wife!"
Dude A: "Wife? I thought it was a goat!"
Who killed Alex?
*Sonic.*
Alex Kidd?
Oh,
I just got it~
Why is this actually good
This movie is a gem and I wish I could show everyone. Hope the director and friends are doing well
never too early or too late for more Joel content :)
jobel please set the altimeter to 29.92.
Everyone asks who killed captain Alex?
But no one asks how is captain Alex?
I think he's dead...
I think he’s dead...
Dead lol
This captain is no more! He has ceased to be! He's expired and gone to meet his maker! He's a stiff, bereft of life. He rests in peace! He's pushing up the daisies! His metabolic processes are now history! He's off the twig! He's kicked the bucket, shuffled off 'is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisible!!
THIS IS AN EX-CAPTAIN!!
I love how the narration is like sports commentary Xp
Pouring one out for my lost Wakaliwood merch, probably got snagged by pirates on its way to europe.
got snagged by the Tiger Mafia
Having the movie talking with the video joker and joel talking over it all at the same time is an entertaining hell to process all at once
They are doing better now.
Keep supporting them.
EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED ZULUL
VJ EMMIE is my friend on facebook
thats my biggest flex
this was the best in flight movie ever
Who Killed *Catpain* Alex, you say? Definitely sounds like a highlight.
MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE
His cinematography is top notch though. The camera angles are great!
If I watched that on a flight, I would annoy all passengers around me with my hysterical laughing. Anyway, good supa action movie for a 200$ budget. Honestly fun to watch. La creme de la creme.
I was watching the DOOM contest where he promissed this yesterday
This was a genuine out of body experience reading chat as well... I've never laughed so damn hard watching something.
the best of the best movies
6:29 One of the best parts
hopefully joel watches bad black on the next plane stream. i onestly think its on par with Who killed captain alex.
Here before the title gets changed to "Captain".
He didn't change it yet
finally, I understand what he means when he says he brought everyone to brazil
finally Brazil highlights
the blood is real. they took it from a butcher
VJ’s are so dope
39:43 There it is.
Aw man I fell asleep before this happened. Love this movie
*TIGER MAFIA!!!!*
Love watching all the planes have repeated near misses out of the window, while our pilot is oblivious, too busy watching Wakaliwood
The people doing kung fu taught themselves those moves
If there is a perfect stream this is it
