1:19 - 1:21 you can hear Michael's signature vocal hiccup. He's def on backing vocals. Singers don't always get CREDITED for the backing vocals that they do, simply not to take shine away from the artist doing lead vocals.
I remember buying this CD way back when i was in University. My friends didn't know who she was in Malaysia where i live. But i love her voice and was so happy she went on achieved so much more after that. I still listen to this any chance i get and it reminds me of that time of my life.
Oh yes so underrated.this song IS amazing in every way.the composition the production lyrics and Siedah signsture soulful vocals.I listen to It on repeat
Can anyone mention some praise for Ms. Garrett's performance ? Sensuous and sensual and warm and inviting and captivating. A great job all around. Very good song that holds up well.....
Got no arguments from me. I only wonder if this tune was ever released as a single and if it charted well. It deserves consistent play on AC, hi-tech AOR, and Smooth Jazz radio station formats, even if only as an album cut.
You are correct. There are "finished" tracks. I say "finished" because Michael may have added more to those songs... Remember how Bad was supposed to have about 30 tracks? Yet, they made him cut down to about 10-11 I think.
this is a great song!! I love the groove and smooth sound. I feel it's a honor to call you my friend. Look forward to the new cd coming out in July 2012!!
what you got to remember is the Bad album was the last time quincy worked with MJ and it was like 86 with rod temperton so id rule out MJ being on backing vocals.......also the last oppurtunity mj had with working with Quincy was on the Back on the block for the song Secret Garden but Epic refused for some reason.
Not sure if It was Epic or was MJ not wanting to overexpose himself before Dangerous.he had his timing for his album and wanted the public to be really desperate to Hear him again..if he had been on Back on the block the Dangerous release would not been as epic
Behind the Mask wouldve been on Thriller, but it got blocked by Yellow Magic Orchestra's label (not the band) I believe. But yeah I get what you mean about Invincible's configuration being confusing...he had a lot of great material to work with that somehow ended up unreleased...Haha I still wanna hear "Buffalo Bill"...still waiting for "Victory" which was supposed to have come out last year =/
I can hear MJ in there Angel28Blue, he's just not doing the usual backgrounds like he's famous for on his albums... MJ's done loads of background singing for quite a few popular songs over the years... Personally, I'd love to see the full listing of his background vocal work... Very good ear 5712bklyn, I picked up on it when I first heard this song the other night... Rod Temperton is one of music industry's geniuses too bad, songs like this and performers like Siedah are so underrated...
i would like to add i have every single song from other artists where mj has been on background vocals if anyone wants to truly hear proper mj vocals go listen to stevie wonders track all i do or bryan lorens satisfy you........happy listening.
Actually, Im glad you said that. I used to think I was one of few who thought that lol Maybe we should try getting the acapellas and mixing in new instrumentations? And its true, he had a lot of demos that were already great...Sometime I wonder if the media/pressure caused him to cast a shadow of doubt on his work?
whilst we're on the subject of MJ material have you listened to R kellys latest album,it has a few songs that clearly had MJ in mind, feelin single/not feelin the love etc.
The Rodney jerkins material is an interesting one,im a huge fan of Teddy Riley and Rodney Jerkins and am familiar with everything they have both done.Invincible to my ears at the time was one of confusion because musically it made no sense, there is a whole albums worth of amazing material thats vintage MJ that never got released, alot of politics was going on at the time behind the album and thats why its a mish mash of material. How the hell did 'we've had enough' not make the cd? and Privacy did
im afraid i dont share your optimism, from the way mjs material has been handled so far who knows what the estate has planned...all i know is that the best material to come is from the Invincible era including Place with no name which was criminally left of the Michael CD and others like Escape etc....
i dont think michael put his vocal down in the end, i think it was just an idea, michaels voice is very distinctive, you'd be able to hear him if he was on the record
i just don't hear him in this song,i would agree its possible his vocal is somewhere hidden in the stacked layers of background vocals but its funny to me that people are all over this song now its posted on youtube at a 420p quality which makes it even poor quality,i have this on a tape cassette because i didnt have a cd player at the time.no credits of mj anywhere!! in all the mj forums ive been in not any mention of mj on background vocals in any of the compiled lists by other hardcore fans.
well theres desperately trying to hear mj in this song or maybe he's in there but so far back in the mix its hard to tell with whats going on in the song......i have pretty amazing sennheiser headphones and they have the ability to unravel many layers of sounds and vocals and the average person on youtube listening to this song in 480p on crappy pc speakers is not gonna get the same level of detail that i have.If you can hear mj in this song then great but i just dont hear it.
id love to know where you got the information MJ worked on her 1988 album for qwest records.........its only by association can you throw MJs name in the mix.........as for being a well known fact...........i cant even imagine where you got that idea....its like saying MJ worked on Brownstones or Men of Visions albums!!! LOL.
That Tamia track you put a move on my heart is an amazing song but did you know it was originally sung by an amzing british singer Mica Paris? Jennifer Hudsons versions is pretty amazing vocally but the productions/music spoils it imo.
agreed definately not mjs voice....never really bothered me who it is tbh, could be jason malachi could be someone else, difficult to say in all honesty, still find it funny that fans swear blind its mjs voice. The interesting thing about J.malachi is that his mj type songs have been around for years on youtube and its clear hes a wannabee but doesnt even come close....one of the few singers from the early 90's who sounded really like MJ was Steven Russel from Troop.....Spread my wings.
hate to dissappoint people but this is not a great song and its not really rod temperton sounding to my ears ,this track has a very Madonna feel (fitting for the time) this track is actually closer to a Michael J Powell song from Chapter 8 fame and also key writer for Anita Baker...........which is probably why MJ passed this track on.
1:19 - 1:21 you can hear Michael's signature vocal hiccup. He's def on backing vocals. Singers don't always get CREDITED for the backing vocals that they do, simply not to take shine away from the artist doing lead vocals.
+Xavier Leeds Woooooowwww How I didn't catch that before!?!?!???
I didn't catch it until you said something wow
Yes he was. The song was actually for him but he gave it to her. His vocals are still in the background from the sample
He gave her it that could be why
here is a demo for his version: ua-cam.com/video/mkuNzksLgWg/v-deo.html
The industry sucks so bad right now...I'd love to see her back on the music scene....lovely, talented woman.
Love the Rod Temperton signature style! mmm... mmm... mmm...
love it , every song Michael touched turned in to gold
I remember buying this CD way back when i was in University. My friends didn't know who she was in Malaysia where i live. But i love her voice and was so happy she went on achieved so much more after that. I still listen to this any chance i get and it reminds me of that time of my life.
King of pop 🌎
So smooth with a jazzy feel & sexy lyric, always loved this song & Siedah's delivery
Oh yes so underrated.this song IS amazing in every way.the composition the production lyrics and Siedah signsture soulful vocals.I listen to It on repeat
it has a debarge feel to it
There's a video on here of MJ singing this with piano playing, great to finally hear the song completed.
May you post the link for it please?
_Ruined_ more like.
This kitsch monstrosity's drowned in coarse '80s junk.
The mellifluous piano version had purity and potential longevity.
Beautiful song...loved her touring with MJ... Sheryl Crow was horrible...Siedah was wonderful. ♥ Thanks for posting!
I am so attracted to mj
Unfortunately you're too old and the wrong gender. Oh and he's dead now.
@@gsau3000 sick fuck, Michael was an hetero man who didn't do anything but give love to children around the world.
Sameee
real music in those days...real vibe and real talent unmatched!
this song is sooo crispy
Nice song
Thanks Rod.
Loved this song.
Siedah did a great job..
Can anyone mention some praise for Ms. Garrett's performance ? Sensuous and sensual and warm and inviting and captivating. A great job all around. Very good song that holds up well.....

I love the background vocals :-)
wonderful e beautiful
Seems like I can hear Michael, "somewhere" in in the background vocals, those little sounds he made with his voice...
don't know *magic.or.?*
♡♡♡ beyond words
this is a great song!! I love the groove and smooth sound. I feel it's a honor to call you my friend. Look forward to the new cd coming out in July 2012!!
Is there a completed version of MJ singing "Groove of Midnight"? Not just the snippet I have seen on UA-cam!
So nice....
Good song. Thank you. :)
Did he sang backing vocals?
Sven Nelson yes
Good song!
geniall :D
love ho yea mj x
This must be one of Rod's last songs. He seems to have disappeared around this time -- what in the world happened to him?
should have been a bigger hit.
Not avalible on mobile? Damn it!!!

micheal looks gorgeous!!
I can hear MJ in there Angel28Blue, he's just not doing the usual backgrounds like he's famous for on his albums...

siedah has just written a tribute song to Michael,it's really nice
or Hollywood tonight....or even Behind the mask could have been reworked for Invincible...
Okay siedah Love you Michael Jackson 😍 and siedah Love you
This would be perfect for GTA VI
i would like to add i have every single song from other artists where mj has been on background vocals if anyone wants to truly hear proper mj vocals go listen to stevie wonders track all i do or bryan lorens satisfy you........happy listening.

This was supposed to have Michael’s leading voice in the beginning!
yes you can,and you can also hear heatwave's illusion.when i listen RWY i always sing it's just an illusion
3:21
whilst we're on the subject of MJ material have you listened to R kellys latest album,it has a few songs that clearly had MJ in mind, feelin single/not feelin the love etc.

what album i can find this song on?
it's on "Kiss of life" Siedah's debut album :)
En esta versión sobresale más la dulce voz de Michael, adoro esta canción y los coros que hacía !!!! ua-cam.com/video/pOQFtXpmQwo/v-deo.html
subscribe his offical channel, michael jackson king of pop keep playing his music
The original song ???
im afraid i dont share your optimism, from the way mjs material has been handled so far who knows what the estate has planned...all i know is that the best material to come is from the Invincible era including Place with no name which was criminally left of the Michael CD and others like Escape etc....

how does breaking news, keep your head up and monster sound on your fine speakers? do u hear mj in those songs?
Sounds a bit like Anita Baker?
lil different, but yes. I love them both. :-)
Whaat!? No way.
well theres desperately trying to hear mj in this song or maybe he's in there but so far back in the mix its hard to tell with whats going on in the song......i have pretty amazing sennheiser headphones and they have the ability to unravel many layers of sounds and vocals and the average person on youtube listening to this song in 480p on crappy pc speakers is not gonna get the same level of detail that i have.If you can hear mj in this song then great but i just dont hear it.
funnily enough i have the album.........mj is not credited for any background vocals.
id love to know where you got the information MJ worked on her 1988 album for qwest records.........its only by association can you throw MJs name in the mix.........as for being a well known fact...........i cant even imagine where you got that idea....its like saying MJ worked on Brownstones or Men of Visions albums!!! I like Siedah but Michael's demo is much more beautiful and calming...
His demo is only 30 seconds stop being a groupie
the chorus is the only part of this song i like
What are you talking about ? MJ is not on this song in any way shape or form.
theres no mj in this song.....wishful thinking!
its an okay rod temperton-penned tune. not one of his best.
hate to dissappoint people but this is not a great song and its not really rod temperton sounding to my ears ,this track has a very Madonna feel (fitting for the time) this track is actually closer to a Michael J Powell song from Chapter 8 fame and also key writer for Anita Baker...........which is probably why MJ passed this track on.
