Hi! It's your host Emily Curl here. This was such a cool shoot for me, I loved hearing the band talk about so many amazing experiences throughout the years. What was your favorite part of the video? xx
Kennedy Space Center
My favorite part was the interviewer.
The fact that one of them looks about 16 ?!? !
The drummer , had a crazy 😜 journey, nice to here him at last xx
I have to say Emily that I enjoyed the whole video. I find it amazing that we are still enjoying this wonderful band 40 plus years later....look forward to more videos with you. Thank you so much.😀
It's rare to see Roger that talkative. He's a treat to listen to.
Agreed.
He's very articulate and seems like such a kind and gentle soul.
Good to hear Roger talk. Pretty quiet in the early years.
I was just thinking the same thing. Roger truly seems to be enjoying life and being in Duran Duran so much. It's wonderful to see
He’s barely aged in 40 years either
He's so freaking sweet and you can tell he's a lovely person! Honestly he's the member of DD I'd most like to meet :)
@@davidmoore651 Also it makes me genuinely happy for him to see him happy and comfortable, obviously less shy than he used to be. He seems so humble - I love the way he talked about the late Bernard Edwards (RIP)
My favourite , Roger .😍😍😍
I love that Roger is the one dominating the conversation. Always the quiet one.
For all their fame, wealth, and accomplishments, these two seem super humble and cool.
And that in itself is a super achievement.
Duran Duran are one of the reasons why the 1980s were so good!
Gotta love John's sarcasm .. "I don't see you, Rog?" when Roger pulls out the Notorious album 😅😂😍
Oh this made me want to watch this long interview 😂
Love hearing Roger get to speak. He usually can't get but a word or two in when the four guys do interviews together.
true
The host is fantastic at her job. She has a really positive, welcoming vibe but isn't annoying and doesn't talk over the guys like many interviewers do. I like how she just lets them tell their stories. Almost like sitting around a campfire. Nice work!
I agree - she was respectful and did a good job guiding the interview.
Thank you so much!
Absolutely - great job!
@@emcurl on the down side, your trouser pattern reminded me of my mother's curtains in the mid 1970s.😂 In all seriousness you were very good.
@@manicstreetpreacher200 hahaha 😂 life is too short. Gotta wear moms curtains
John Taylor, my favorite celebrity since 1982. I got a high-5 from him once (Neurotic Boys show in Tucson in 1995-1996?) and cried when I needed to wash my hands. I'm pushing 50 now, and would still cry today. Actually meeting him, or any of the guys after all these years might send me into cardiac arrest. I'd die happy. DD always and forever.
I am jealous. Lol
That so cute (and so relatable!) 💗
Duran Duran was the center of my world as a teenager...it's so cool how all of us have matured and I love how down to earth they are...love this interview.
Great to hear Roger talking - a quiet gentleman
Is there anyone sweeter on this planet than Roger Taylor? Hmmm, I think not
23:21.. OMG.. That's me and my husband on stage with them at the Seattle show! 😁😍 NEVER expected to see that when I was watching this!! 😂 Greatest night EVER! I will never forget it!
John's smile.....*swoon*
This band has broken through genres and musical styles in the last 40 years. I do believe they have done more to marry genres of music together over the years than any other singer or act. A legendary group of musicians indeed!
Really enjoyed watching this! I’m 25 but absolutely love Duran, thanks to my parents! Hopefully I get the chance to see them live one day!
Hearing you say this is fantastic! I'm a Vintage Duranie. Been with them from the start! I'm 64 now and still Loving every note, beat and lyric!
@@cjhermsen1700 My parents are both in their early 50’s so they’ve been with the band since they were teenagers lol! They passed their musical taste down to me. 😊
I'm so glad I saw them.. At the Birmingham NEC of all places..
Your parents have good taste in music! :)
@@seanp8220 My Dad saw them on their very first Scottish tour in ‘81 in Edinburgh! 😀
I love the way he says years
The presenter is great. Asking the right questions at the right time
And thank goodness she never interrupted 👍
@@Muhdah1972 She's also quite beautiful.
Who is she?
Thank you so much!
@@liammccann8763 Emily Curl
Great, amazing interview. The interviewer did an excellent job. She allowed John and Roger to tell their stories without interrupting, plus she gives off positive vibes and very pretty.
Thank you so much!
Here comes the rhythm section of Duran Duran~ Yay~~~
😎
The vinyl version of Future Past is stunning. Love the artwork. DD pushing the envelope once again. You can hear the two most underated Duran albums Medazzaland and Pop Trash all the way through it.
Roger and John look great, and their new album sounds great. So awesome to see these guys still have the magic!
I loved hearing John’s & Roger’s various experiences in Duran Duran throughout the earlier years ! ❤
I was in 8/9 th grade when I fell in love with Duran Duran. I am now 54 yrs old and I love them just as much now. I listen to them almost daily. John was my favorite!❤
Fantastic interview and insights from John and Roger.
Still love them till this day 42 yrs later, would give anything to go to those days.
When I was a teenager, not everyone had a video player since they were so expensive, so my dad would sometimes rent a machine and some movies. For my birthday, of course I got Duran Duran’s videos, and played it constantly for the few days we had it for, dancing in the living room with my friends. Good times. It’s nice to hear their stories of how different things came about behind the scenes.
Duran Duran fan for 40 years. Thank you Roger so much for coming back to us! And I've seen them all but Girl Panic is THE greatest DD video ever in my eyes. I never tire of the joy of it! But the Invisible video takes the cake. How much farther can these boyz go? Hopefully, forever!
WILD BOYS ALWAYS SHINE!!!!!
ABSOLUTELY LOVING "FUTURE PAST". DURAN STILL ON THEIR GAME, AS ALWAYS FOR ME IMO.
What an interview! Interesting format, good questions, a sweet host who was informed about the band and their work. The guys (and Emily) really seemed to be enjoying it, and that's something delightful to watch. And the album is really great, from start to finish.
Thank you so much, Georgia!
Really good interview. I love how she doesn't interrupt them. Good questions too. It's nice to see a young person interview them
Such talented musicians Roger is a beast on the drums and John is the king of syncopation base lines! Roger was always my favorite and when he quit the band, I was devastated. I’m so happy to see him and so talkative thank you guys for all the songs and all the memories!
i just love john taylor SO much, he is definitely my favorite bassist and he's like wine!!!!! kisses for my duran duran eternal boys 🥺
Met them several times and these two are very kind and sincere, Nick also very nice, Simon was Simon. LOL.
Well, what is that supposed to mean about Simon, that he wasn't nice?
Please elaborate.
And Andy, how was he?
I'm curious as I've never really had any insight into Roger and/or Andy's personalities.
I thought "Duran Duran" was a Spanish name.
IVE SEEN THEM LIVE 35 TIMES AND IVE MET THEM LOADS OF TIMES AND THEY WERE ALL REALLY NICE GUYS.
@@resa.walters Simon is very aloof IRL. He's nice but doesn't like wasting his time with unnecessary conversation. Guess it depends how you catch him and what he is doing at the time.
@@anotheryoutubechannelabout1321 Well, I would guess John and Simon and Roger to be a bit reserved.
Nothing wrong with that, there are some strange people in this world. And I suppose they haven't got a whole lot time to get to know everyone, unfortunately.
Thanks for the reply! 👍
Duran Duran is a visually arresting name. It's an attractive name to look at. Visually, it fits the band.
John Taylor in a Trucker hat 😍
Duran Duran , is the very best! Thanks from central California!
Great interview! Finally John talks about throwing Andy overboard! Always wanted to know why he did that and AT's reaction. Hilarious...
The interviewer is great - she asks the question or introduces the item to discuss and let's them go...great pacing and comfortable and personable interview. Love Duran Duran since 1982.
Thank you so much!
She was excellent. I think she has a bright future ahead of her.
Thank you! :)
This was fantastic! Glad seeing these two together, and the host seemed genuinely excited to be there with them ♥️
Roger speaks so very fondly of the reunion period. Man, I loved that period too and often go back to Astronaut and the various outtakes. I guess I always preferred "rock band" Duran Duran.
Excellent interview! a clear example that you can interview and star in giving a good treatment to two greats of music. Thanks Duran Duran for being the soundtrack of my life. Greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina! // Excelente entrevista! una claro ejemplo que se puede entrevistar y protagonizar dar un buen trato a dos grandes de la musica. Gracias Duran Duran por ser la banda sonora de mi vida. Saludos desde Buenos Aires, Argentina!
Yup MTV don't forget to say thanks to duran duran and all their fans
This was really good... i really liked that not only talked about the obvious, there was a great variety of subjects in the interview.
The album's amazing.John's bass and Simon's voice really stand out.Interviews good as well.Gotta love John and his hats
The greatest band in the world
Duran Duran is/has always and will always be my favorite band!! Their raw talent is a rare thing these days and I grew up with these guys. Had every album, cassette, DVD and now we have iTunes!!! So glad to see them getting recognition from todays younger generation. These guys don’t need auto tune or anything. What you hear on the album is what you hear on stage!!
Autotune is a tool used on all vocals with electronic music. Autotune is only noticeable or bad when the person singing doesn’t know how to sing notes. This is the phenomenon that people like you typically mean when you think Autotune is used.
Autotune (melodyne) is common and not an enemy, and it does not make anyone less skilled to use Autotune. It’s a tool akin to reverb.
Please, stop referring to Autotune until you learn what it is and how it is used.
I’m pretty sure melodyne is used on the new album, and it does not discredit simon’s vocal skill at all. Melodyne is not the enemy.
Listening to the new album this very moment. I'm glad I purchased it. Really good!
I have to make a correction, but Astronaut was released in 2004, not 1993.
I said the same thing. ;-)
AND Ordinary World was 93 John.......
@@peartfaldo correct! 1993/1994. I was somewhat disappointed John messed that up because Ordinary World is one of my top 5 favorite Duran songs and it was one of only 2 real hits of theirs in the 90's.
How lovely is John, never seen an interview where he is aloof or rude
I’m now 50 and still think one day I will marry John Taylor 🤣🤣
I am always very emotional when they mention the Kennedy Space Center concert; I feel so honored to be there! 💜
All the members of DD are super friendly guys. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Yeah you Guys and Billy at that time MTV👍🏻 😮 I'll never forget it, Nyc America 🇺🇸
I'm of a age that witnessed Duran Duran's 80's peak, and was never really a fan of the band as such. But I have to say, I've always liked Roger's and John's passion and down to earth approach in interviews.
Manager: " Lads, we have to stop off at Sri Lanka to make some videos!.." Duran altogether: What!!??? Lol
So beautiful... he is so eloquent,,,x
39:32 look how proud they both are! So adorable!😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
This was great! I love hearimg these little side stories and fun facts.
i was at the Roseland show and remember how it felt like an impromptu "pop-up" gig. everybody LOVED it. my office was only a couple blocks away and i was in corporate drag but it didn't take long before i was all sweaty and corporate de-dragged. good times.
Great retrospective and pacing. The guys seemed genuinely into it which is impressive as the questions were pretty standard that they’ve had to answer over and over, but it worked due to to visuals and timeline. One post prod fix: Astronaut released in 2004 (not 1993 per graphic as of this viewing).
I noticed also they had the date wrong for the Astronaut album. Overall, this interview was clever, informative and entertaining.
That was a totally awesome amazing interview with John Taylor wow wow wow wow and Roger Taylor wow wow wow wow wow 😳 luved it every minute seeing what came out of that box 🎁☑️ I've been a die hard Duranie since 1981 I was 12 when I heard planet earth 🌎🌍 now I'm 54 and still a die hard Duranie wow wow wow wow epic fantastic brilliant awesome amazing band 👍👌 there stories music interviews live performances are non stop I've seen um 70 times now and another 3 cumin up in Manchester UK London UK and Birmingham uk 2023 luv all there albums and future past is wow wow wow 🥰 epic awesome 👌👌 fantastic 😊😍 luv it fantastic brilliant it's in my top 5 best albums of Duran Duran
I love Roger ❤️❤️
Me too! Forever Roger.
Ever so swoonworthy!
They are such a class act and I always love John's admiration for John Barry
The fact that the Red Carpet Massacre show wasn't released on DVD was ridiculous. I was at the show in Australia and the Kraftwerk-esque set was EVERYTH!NG ***** The Normal 'Warm Leatherette' with All She Wants Is, Lonely In Your Nightmare and Skin Trade was incredible
I saw the Show in Vienna - I knew they were planning to do some sort of electro-thing but could not figure it out what this would be like. Well, I was blown away, to put it mildly ... :-) Such great musicians, wow! It is really a pity there has never been a Live release of the RCM shows - the album was so much better than its reputation. And the electro set was one of the coolest things I have ever heard in a live show.
I’d love ❤️ to see Duran Duran in 2022., 2023., if they come back to Chicago, Illinois
Love the Duran Duran sound since the early 80's ....🔥
That was truly wonderful and nice to hear musicians be so candid and well spoken. Especially when you hear today’s artists and you wonder if they can put a sentence together.
So many memories, they’ve basically have been around all my life.
What a great show-and-tell discussion! I've been a Duran Duran fan ever since I was a little kid in the 80s when my older sister started playing their music -- I was blown away then and am still blown away now. It is really cool to hear them talk about their experiences throughout their career and to see how they grew as musicians over time. I just love their music, and they are a huge influence on me as I write my own compositions. Emily, you did a great job and I love that you came so prepared for this! That must have been fabulous to meet them and bend their ears! Thank you for sharing! 💜❤🧡
Fantastic British band. Brilliant written and arranged tracks..... Legendary band.👍
I love this interview. It was done very well. As others have mentioned, I like how she let them talk and explain their stories, instead of interrupting them with other silly questions. When I watch interviews, I like hearing the back stories and info about the music and their careers, instead of who they were dating, or who they'd love to be trapped with on an island. Because, in the end, it's about the music. It was very interesting.
Candid Loving Amazing Legendary😍
LOOVVEE❤️FuturePast💕DURAN🤗🙏
This was a very enlightening interview, I really enjoyed it. I didn’t know that one of the original band names was Arcadia!! I’m hearing definite echoes of Arcadia’s music in “Future Past.” I’m glad John and Roger got to really delve into the archives too, and share their memories of the events around the music, not just talk about the hits. Great idea to use that memory box as a way to get the guys to share their stories!
“So Red the Rose” was a fantastic album.
I've seen a lot of interviews with this band since the very early days. This is one of the best.
Duran Duran INTERNATIONAL BRITISH TREASURE!!!! 🇬🇧🎈🎉
They take pride in their work
One of the best DD interviews. Great reporter
Great interviewer and I love the picking out of items to discuss! Great vibes from John and Roger with the interviewer. I finally got to hear Roger speak. He is so funny and intelligent. They both are. I've been a loyal fan of Duran Duran since 1980 to today! Saw the Planet Earth video on MTV and I fell in love with this band, Simon's voice, Nick's amazing keyboard skills, John's incredible bass sound and Roger's wonderful drum sound! They have the most unique sound and I love how they evolved over the decades! I've been to many of their concerts which are artistic and so much fun! I even jumped on stage once to dance with Simon for 10 seconds! I will never forget the iconic smile John gave me! Best memory of my life! I still hope to meet them one day! John and Simon were my first band crush's and still are! They have stood the test of time and this new Album shows that! I love it! ♥️🤩🎶
Looking forward to hopefully a US tour of the new album! Love you guys! DD Fan 4Life!
That was one of the best DD interviews I’ve heard. Presenter was awesome :)
I purchased the deluxe edition of future past. What a masterpiece. Greetings from glasgow scotland
North Carolina produced lots of Duranies!! Myself at age 11!;)
fantastic history'S Duran Duran love love love love !!! POWER POP !!!
This was awesome! Love this unboxing video - it's like opening up Christmas presents! Going down memory lane with the early MTV DD videos is always fun. I agree with Nick that DD does have one foot in the future and one in the past. The Future Past album came about in the perfect timing for DD, where they were able to have additional time to integrate their own personal contemplation of the past year and express that through songs like "Invisible," "Tonight United," and "More Joy." The "Invisible" and "More Joy" videos are a creative use of modern technology and art. I especially like what John said about "Tonight United" being a song meant to uplift people's spirits and bring them together via a shared love of DD music. Overall, very enjoyable interview! I also enjoyed hearing about John and Roger's thoughts about the items in the box. :)
Excellent! I really love that interview. I love Duran Duran, kisses from Argentina 💕
what a great interview, good guys. i was a punk rocker in those days and not much into DD, but I really like those early albums these days.
lot of nice memories of those times.
Im from Sri Lanka. Thank for mentioning!
Great interview! Thank you!
Roger 😍😍😍
iHeartRadio you need Simon and Nick NEXT!!! Gotta have Nick!
The mighty Graham Coxon of Blur is on this album! Woo Hoo!
This was such a great interview with John and Roger. I really enjoyed this!! Great job Emily ♥️
That's why vinyl was good --- they were much more artistic, there were liner notes to read. From Rio through Notorious, our group of 5 girls would be at the door when the record store opened and we would excitedly all rush to buy our copy of the latest Duran Duran album. Then we gathered together, put the LP on and listened silently the first time. Then we would listen the second time. We each had our own copy and would generally debate which member looked the "cutest" on the album cover or within the sleeve 😁. We marvelled at a bass line/guitar rif/haunting keyboard or Simon's voice. And then we might sing along. Then we would dream we were one of the girls in the G rated videos. Sigh... I miss those days.
Yes! I pity the kids today who will never experience the joy of going to the record shop and holding an LP in your hands and smiling all the way home in anticipation.... Priceless memories! Words can't express how lucky I feel to have been a teenager in the 80s :)
I’m 22 and currently experiencing that right now for the past few years. And the right answer is John is the cutest member, every photo of him in the vinyl liner notes are fantastic.
@@mgparis kids today are definitely experiencing this! I’ve been collecting vinyl since I was 13, and I’m still collecting them now at 22. Vinyl is really making a big boom these past years.
Kids these days aren’t missing out on vinyl shopping trust me
Great interview. Made special by Emily who hit the right tone all the way through
Both look really healthy and young for their age
Gentleman thanks for all that you've done over the decades! You've been my favorite band since 1981. Danke schon!
An I'm patiently waiting for my vinyl copy to be delivered 💕🙌
I enjoyed this wholeheartedly ... fun interview!
