    This helped me TREMENDOUSLY!!! I’m the person that needs to understand how a stitch works and why the steps are the way that they are instead of just learning the steps and repeating them over and over. Your tutorials are exceptional for that reason. I enjoyed that it’s not just “monkey see monkey do“ and you’re actually teaching us why. The “why” is important every time you learn a new skill so thank you!

    Thanks for video. My only complaint would be this is the 3rd video listed as "Beginners guide" and you guys shows us cables on already completed cable work, why not start from beginning since we are beginners... is there a set up row... I dont know, nobody shows it. LOL Oh well, now you know why we run for the hills! OK after finishing the video I understand a little more, thanks again.

    Am I the only one that finds knitting easier than crocheting? When I crochet I never know where the stitches are and my tension is uneven which makes the project uneven :/

    Thanks for sharing your knowledge of cables. I love doing cables. I think they are so pretty on any project. I use to panic when I would mess up a stitch and have to take out or try to fix. After watching your video and seeing how calm you were when you had to fix, it has helped me to stay calm and just take my time to fix. And that is with straight knitting as well.

    I usually crochet, so knitting isn't my main yarn craft, but I do try to learn various knitting stitches from time to time to challenge my brain. In all the knitting tutorials I've seen over the years, you were the only one that showed the "tink." I'm used to frogging my work if I mess up a crochet pattern, but that's much trickier with knitting. I cannot thank you enough.

    I have been crocheting for 32 years. Self taught. Always wanted to learn knitting, but adjusting to two needles and fixing mistakes was so daunting. Also, have always wanted to learn how to knit cables since crocheting cables is a favorite stitch. I thought it would be easy since I know how to crochet. Wrong. I started and stopped multiple times because of this.
    Am determined this go around. Thank you so much! Your clip helped out lots on understanding basics of cables. Also, helped me understand knitting flat versus on the round.
    I have made so many mistakes but am loving this journey. Thank you again.

    Thank you so much for this THOROUGH tutorial on cables! I have not attempted a cable yet, because I’m intimidated, being that I’m still a beginner knitter. I’ve crocheted for years, and have made up patterns as I go along (usually simple stuff like sweaters for my dog lol). My husband has been wanting me to make him a new beanie, with a cable in it, since I’ve been practicing with my swatches.
    I found your tutorial very insightful, and very helpful, as I feel like some things need to be explained to me like a child, so I needed a more in-depth tutorial like this one. I couldn’t help but laugh when you suggested working on a few swatches first before taking on a project, and your doubling down by saying not to attempt to make your own pattern if you are new to cables. Because I was already having him find me examples of hats he liked, to attempt copying lol! But I’m definitely gonna take your advice and look for a pattern, before attempting my own pattern.
    Thanks again for such an awesome tutorial, honey!

      @missmarie_8790 7 місяців тому

      @@RosenrotRtLiebchen87 I misread your comment, my bad. Yeah, I just became aware of crocheting cables as well! I figure it’s the same idea, where you stitch the stitches out of order to make the twist or cable, but I’m new to both 😅
      I made my husband’s beanie though! It came out really good for my first cable project. I found a very simple and easy to follow pattern, I’ve come to find that I like working cable patterns from charts more than written instructions. My next project is going to be mittens to increase my knitting skills! But I’m also working on a crochet project on the side, a granny square hooded trench coat style sweater.

    • @missmarie_8790
      @missmarie_8790 7 місяців тому

      @@RosenrotRtLiebchen87 just to clarify, I am more knowledgeable in crochet, as I’ve been crocheting since I was like 7 or 8, but I want to become just as good with knitting. I taught myself how to knit during COVID. But don’t really have any friends/family who can help me out, so for the time being I’m using tutorials and books I’ve bought to learn. But I do want to join a knitting class or something to learn things I don’t know that I can’t learn or wouldn’t know to learn, just from self teaching alone. If you get what I mean.

    Well, for regular non-circular version, even rows on the knitting chart is pearls and not knits and pearls are read as knits on even rows. Only the odd rows are straight knits and pearls as-is off the chart. Good advice on the stitch book and knitting a sample first than diving right into a project. I made some similar mistakes before.

    Thanks for your clear and slow explenation on this tutorial. I wonder if you could help me with a patern for a round neck sweater with superiour chunky wool. I struggle with my neck its everytime to narrow. I start with 79 sts. Please i cant found a patern. Only for over sizing sweaters. She dont want an over size sweater. I will appreciate it. Thanks

    I appreciate your videos so so so sooo much…and yes, I’ve said this before but I can’t help but reiterate. 😬
    I very much wish background music was not added while you are talking.
    Intro and wrap up…sure…but not while teaching. 😭

    Beautiful cable, I made 3 cable scarfs last year and this year I can't follow the pattern??? I don't know what's happening to me, PLEASE How many stitches did you cast on? How did you start? Show from the Beginning, as we are BEGINNERS!!!!!

    This is a great video for beginners 👍 thank you for a detailed tutorial.
    However, I am confused with the chart. Shouldn't the alternate rows in the graphic pattern be all purl rows? The way the pattern is drawn seems to imply that the cable is worked in garter stitch alone which is not the desired effect?
