I always suspect that male celebrities who do so many female impersonations are secretly gay, although a little surprised to hear it of this man. However, this takes nothing away from Stanley Baxter having been one of the greatest, most versatile comedians of all time - still watch and revel in some of his hilarious performances.

He was quite passionate about dressing as a woman, and it kind of came across in his performances that he relished it. Many comedians say they hate dressing as a woman, in fact Ronnie Barker said he hated it and Tim Brooke-Taylor made very clear that he got paid to do it. Most straight comedians when they're in drag look like men dressed as women, Stanley Baxter could be eerily convincing as a woman.

Why is this video showing photos of Sean Connery and Bobby Ball when it is talking about Stanley Baxter unless it is trying to imply something. Weird.

My thoughts exactly. Strange choice of pics regarding the subject matter. But who cares about SB being gay? It sure doesn’t detract from the genius comedy versatility of Britains best comedian. Thank God for the UA-cam vids that are kicking around.

This is a disgraceful piece of clickbait. Stanley Baxter was gay, so what? He was by far a more incisive and intelligent comedian than Benny Hill. The use of photos featuring Bobby Ball and Sean Connery are a disgrace. What the hell are you implying here?

??? Why does this link about Stanley Baxter being homosexual repeatedly scroll pictures of Sean Connery & Bobby Ball - both of whom are dead & can not defend themselves?!

I find her desperation very sad. To be constantly a victim of adultery just across the landing is heartbreaking.

The whole situation was desperately sad for both of them. Baxter tried to call off the wedding because he knew he would never be able to make his fiancée happy, but she threatened to killer herself if he didn't marry her. He had a deep fondness and regard for his wife, but felt trapped into a marriage that was unsatisfactory for both of them. The autobiography is well worth buying.

Very sad for both of them, but I think it was harder for her,she had no one,she must have loved him very much. I'd say he was a kind person
